This is my simple religion. There is no need for temples; no need for complicated philosophy. Our own brain, our own heart is our temple; the philosophy is kindness. ~ His Holiness the Dalai Lama

An affectionate disposition not only makes the mind more peaceful and calm, but it affects our body in a positive way too. On the other hand, hatred, jealousy and fear upset our peace of mind, make us agitated and affect our body adversely. Even our body needs peace of mind and is not suited to agitation. This shows that an appreciation for peace of mind is in our blood. ~ His Holiness the Dalai Lama

We often speak of the external enemy. For example, in my own case, our Chinese brothers and sisters are destroying Tibetan rights and, in that way, more suffering and anxiety develops. But no matter how forceful this is, it cannot destroy the supreme source of my happiness, which is my calmness of mind. This is something an external enemy cannot destroy. Our country can be invaded, our possessions can be destroyed, our friends can be killed, but these are secondary for our mental happiness. The ultimate source of my mental happiness is my peace of mind. Nothing can destroy this except my own anger.
~ His Holiness the Dalai Lama, from, The Dalai Lama's Book of Wisdom.

Last month, I had the great fortune of being gifted with tickets to see His Holiness, the Dali Lama. He was speaking on Compassion as the Key to Happiness. He suggested that the real beginning of compassion starts with affection and warm heartedness. He talked about how when we observe animals in nature giving affection to their young and that we, as well, all need human affection. He was asked by a mother in the audience, concerned about the growing violence in our world, what we could do to help world peace and the people of Tibet. His answer was to provide maximum affection to your children; because, children raised with affection are naturally happier and more peaceful.

The joy His Holiness the Dali Lama lives is tangible. He is a living example of someone who has genuinely forgiven the unforgivable events and people who drove him from his homeland. At this time on the planet, nearly every culture, every race, everyone has experienced events or circumstances that have violated and harmed them in some way. Our best hope of a better NOW and a better future is to forgive ourselves and others for all the wrongs of the past. This is the kind of forgiveness that requires letting go of any hope for a better past; and yet, frees us to know we are living a better NOW as we are also moving toward a more loving, kind and compassionate future. Forgiveness and Compassion pave the way.

Be Sure to Note: Venus, Saturn, and Regulus, in a beautiful display, coming closer together this entire month, visible in the western evening sky for at least 2 hours after Sunset. This celestial event is especially inspiring and worth seeing when the Moon joins them from June 17 – 20. (See Venus details below.)

June Daily Timings

June 1, Fri. The Lunar Standstill Full Moon occults Antares and conjuncts retrograde Jupiter (16 Sag) as Jupiter moves to again conjunct the Great Attractor. (See June 7) These events are expanding even further the already expansive Sagittarius realm, energizing greater possibilities for profound shifts in our awareness, and true understanding of ourselves, while providing opportunities to further release any limiting egoic attachments that keep us from knowing the truth of who we are. This is a time for being truthful and honest with ourselves, for being vulnerable and getting in touch with what is truly in our hearts for us to express. (See May 26 and 31 Celestial Timings Archives for more on Antares.)

The Full Moon passes through Scorpius and under Jupiter as May turns to June. (For clarity, the Moon is shown three times actual size.) http://skytonight.com/observing/ataglance

Tomorrow, Mercury reaches its greatest elongation from the Sun (23 degrees) in this evening sky appearance, signaling the upcoming Mercury retrograde on June 15. It is a good time to start backing up valuable data now.

June 2, Sat. The Lunar Standstill Moon conjuncts Pluto at Galactic Center and then moves into Capricorn, crossing the Galactic Plane. All this year and into next, Pluto and the Moon are meeting at Galactic Center, located visually in the sky between the constellation of the Archer (a.k.a. Sagittarius – see difference between signs and constellations) near the tip of the arrow and above the tail and stinger of the Scorpion, where the Milky Way and the Ecliptic intersect. In the three-day Lunar Standstill window, the Moon is so far south in its orbit along the ecliptic that it literally covers or crosses directly over Galactic Center.

During this time, the Moon amplifies and transmits the energy codes directly from the core of our Galaxy. The power of this transformative potential should not be underestimated. We are being given unprecedented opportunities to resolve our ego attachments through simply being willing to surrender. Realistically, this can be quite painful and difficult, especially when we are resisting the process. Surrender, or the letting go of the need to be in control or to manipulate reality, is the key. When we can truly trust the Universe, or the divine unfolding of the Great Mystery, regardless of how confusing or illogical it may seem on the surface, knowing everything is happening for a purpose that truly supports our evolutionary journey, that is a genuine state of surrender.

June 3, Sun. The Jupiter (16 Sag) Uranus (18 Pisces) square is still actively engaged in creating expansive changes intended to support greater freedom in living the truth of who we are. Jupiter and Uranus reach their last exact square in this process on October 9, 2007. From now until then, these energies are working to help facilitate our freest possible expression (Uranus) in a highly expansive manner (Jupiter), creating an alchemy designed to free us from old pictures and old programs that limit our perception. Trusting the Divine Timing, even when it doesn’t make sense, and is often confusing and unexpected, is again a primary key to flowing more easily with the changes that are taking place anyway. Divine Timing often unfolds in magical and miraculous ways, especially when we are not attached to a specific outcome or things looking a certain way.

In Marlo Morgan’s book, Message from Forever, she describes a young aboriginal woman seeking to know more of her heritage. The challenge she has when she finally connects with those who have kept the sacred ways of her people is letting go of her old pictures and programs. She is told:

“ … It is true your life is one of searching and you have the potential to find important answers and to help many lost people to find their way. But it will not be easy for you. Unlike a small child who is eager to learn and has a void to be filled with knowledge, you are already full of information. You will have to decide for yourself what to discard, what to replace, and what to accept.”

What we have been taught to believe as true, is not necessarily so. Those teachings and beliefs are being challenged by these rapidly changing times. The Uranus Jupiter square is accelerating the need to let go of any previously held limiting beliefs about ourselves or about life that do not support the fullest and freest expression of who we divinely are.

June 4, Mon. Moon moves into Aquarius and Mars (15Aries) trines Jupiter (15 Sag) as the Grand Fire Trine again comes into a close expression with Saturn completing the aspect at 20 Leo. This is an important Timing that supports us in taking inspired-committed action (Mars/Aries) that valiantly promotes new forms (Saturn) of real, honest, heartfelt forgiveness. This includes forgiving the unforgivable and releasing the hurts and wrongs of the past. This is the kind of forgiveness that is necessary for experiencing authentic Self-Love (Leo). Again, this type of forgiveness is beautifully demonstrated by the Dali Lama who was driven from his home in Tibet in 1959, almost half a century ago, under extremely cruel and harsh circumstances. And yet, he chooses to live his life from “warm-hearted compassion” that is forgiving and kind, rather than a “get even” attitude. His work to promote compassion, forgiveness, and peace won him the Nobel Peace Prize in 1989.

From this, we can see that this is not about finding what is right, and what is wrong, or who is right, and who is wrong. This is about forgiveness, of everything and anything that holds us back from living wholeness through love and joy. The essence of truth exists in wholeness, living in our hearts and the present moment.

The greatest gift . . . is the realization that life does not consist either of wallowing in the past or of peering anxiously at the future; and it is appalling to contemplate the great number of often painful steps by which one arrives at a truth so old, so obvious, and so frequently expressed. It is good for one to appreciate that life is now. Whatever it offers, little or much, life is now-this day-this hour. ~Charles Macomb Flandrau

June 5, Tue. Venus moves into Leo until July 14, though Venus will return to Leo after her retrograde station, going retrograde on July 27 at (3 Virgo), moving back into Leo on Aug 8, and staying in Leo until Oct 7. This long Venus process through Leo begins a new Venus Cycle on August 24, spotlighting on the world stage the feminine expression of Leo, for 584 days beginning August 24. The Venus in Leo feminine expression investigates radiant, healthy, creative, radical self-love. Healthy Leo knows their presence and the light they radiate and vibrate in this life is their greatest gift to this evolving world. This pure love of Self radiates inspiration for all without holding back. It is much like the life-giving light of the Sun that continuously shines in the Great Above.

Here is one way to invoke the Feminine expression of Leo:

I am the Amazon Queen. Like the radiant and shining Sun, I generate warmth and inspire others. I am the super star. I light up the stage of life with my confidence and radical self-love. I am a leader who empowers others. I am creative, generous, and strong. Let’s Walk Like Royalty and Shine like the Sun.

Sun (15 Gemini) is opposite retrograde Jupiter (15 Sag) as Jupiter reaches the center point of its retrograde process conjunct The Great Attractor. (See June 7) The inward journey or quest for an ever expanding sense of truth and meaning is being illuminated as Jupiter reaches its symbolic Full Moon point of its yearly cycle. The Gemini/Sagittarius axis serves Spirit through gathering and integrating information, expanding conscious awareness, and our understanding of truth, while also networking new ideas and concepts in entertaining and insightful ways. Are you taking yourself and your spiritual path TOO seriously? Do your beliefs and practices genuinely supporting healthy expansion into new unknown territory? Are you having fun exploring the truth of who you are?

June 6, Wed. Moon conjuncts Neptune (22 Aquarius) and moves into Pisces drawing our awareness again to the mysteries of radical compassion through genuine acceptance of what IS for NOW. Ken Keyes describes this concept in his book, Prescriptions For Happiness, saying this is an inner surrender that comes from conscious choice based on insight rather than fear. It is not a forced outer surrender, but rather, a clear choice to be with what IS in each moment, remembering everything changes and every NOW is different from the previous one. When we are relaxed and accepting what IS, it is much easier to rewire and reprogram our brain’s neural net. Accepting what IS, and loving who we are just as we are right now, is the most radically compassionate action we can take, often facilitating miracles beyond our current imaging.

June 7, Thu. Sun and retrograde Jupiter are still in opposition. The Sun is conjunct Rigel, and Jupiter is conjunct The Great Attractor. Jupiter has already crossed the Great Attractor earlier this year back in late January and early February. Jupiter is once again in this area of the sky hanging within one degree from June 4 to July 2, reaching its exact alignment on June 12. Then Jupiter will return to conjunct the Great Attractor in late September and early October.

Virgo cluster around 50 million light years from Earth Photo of the Virgo Cluster is courtesy of David Malin, Anglo-Australian Observatory 1987 and is a visual of the Virgo cluster some 50 million light years from Earth. Only the central region is shown above, containing two giant elliptical galaxies, M84 and M86. The visible part of the cluster is but a small portion of what seems to be out there. Nevertheless, the Virgo Cluster, along with several other large clusters, are in turn speeding towards a gigantic unseen mass named The Great Attractor.

The Milky Way and Andromeda galaxies are the dominant structures in a galaxy cluster called the Local Group, which is, in turn, an outlying member of the Virgo supercluster. Andromeda--about 2.2 million light years from the Milky Way—is speeding toward our galaxy at 200,000 miles per hour. This motion can only be accounted for by gravitational attraction, even though the mass that we can observe is not nearly great enough to exert that kind of pull. The only thing that could explain the movement of Andromeda is the gravitational pull of a lot of unseen mass—perhaps the equivalent of ten Milky Way-size galaxies—lying between the two galaxies.

The Great Attractor is actually a great mystery to astronomers in figuring out what it really is. What astronomers do know is that the Great Attractor is the most massively huge object known in our region of space. This invisible “thing” is attracting millions of galaxies toward it at the rate of 24 million miles per day or a million miles an hour. This attractor factor is also pulling in our own Milky Way Galaxy, along with all the galaxies around us. Though even at that high rate of speed, it will be a loooong time before we have to worry about what this really means to Earth.

For those who have planets, nodes or angles between 12 to 16 degrees of Sagittarius, your life is greatly influenced by this celestial phenomenon, especially now that Jupiter is expanding it. Galactic Astrologer Philip Sedgwick has written a lot about The Great Attractor suggesting that people who have this area of the sky highlighted in their charts they are having a huge impact on the planet especially masses of people even if they are not aware they are having such an impact or feel they have no significant global influence. He also says these people also seem to hold the key to universal knowing whether they know it or not, as the Great Attractor is a doorway to unseen dimensions. This is due to the Great Attractor’s massive gravitational force that seemingly bends the space-time continuum to give us a peek around the bend at the back of the Universe. See Philip's article http://www.philipsedgwick.com.

Speaking from my own experience - I have the Great Attractor nearly exactly conjunct my North Node - when I first heard about this back in 1999 I thought it was interesting but have only just recently begun to have any sense of what this might be about for me as Jupiter has been magnifying this area of the sky and my personal destiny point located near the Great Attractor. So I recommend tuning into Jupiter over the next few days as it exactly crosses this area of the sky as a way to directly access the mysteries of this celestial phenomenon. As already mentioned this is especially important for those who have planets, nodes or angles between 12 to 16 degrees of Sagittarius.

Once each year around June 6, 7 and 8, the Sun (15 Gemini) conjuncts Rigel, a giant blue star, noted for being the 7th brightest in the sky, marking the left foot of Orion the Hunter. Rigel is thought to mark the location of the fatal sting Orion received on his heal from the scorpion that was sent to kill him by enraged Gaia (Goddess of the Earth) when she heard that Orion was bragging about exterminating all the animals on Earth. Interestingly, the Scorpion rises in the east as Orion sets in the west. Ancient astrologers believed that splendor and honors fell to those born with planets conjunct Rigel, as it was associated with fame, wealth, and originality. June 8, Fri. The Pisces Last Quarter Moon conjuncts Uranus (18 Pisces). The Last Quarter Moon is also known as the Shaman’s Moon, representing the death phase of the current Moon cycle in preparation for the New Moon on June 14. Life and death are interwoven together, one does not occur without the other. With every birth, there is a death, and with every death, there is a birth. The Moon reminds us of this cycle each month when it is born anew every 29 ½ days, dying to the previous cycle and beginning a new journey. The Pisces Last Quarter Moon is integrating the gifts of radical compassion that come from the deep awareness of our wounds and all the ways we might feel our own suffering or the suffering of others, while at the same time moving beyond any need to fix it, relieve it, or change it in anyway. Compassion based in kindness and caring for ourselves and others is a primary healing elixir of Pisces.

June 9, Sat. The Moon moves into Aries energizing a time for taking decisive action towards any heart-centered passionate cause or goal you have. Venus (4 Leo) reaches greatest elongation from the Sun (46.46 degrees in the evening sky), signaling the time where she will begin to drop toward the western horizon over the next few weeks, going retrograde on July 27 at 3 degrees Virgo. Venus is reaching her maximum stretch from the Sun, moving beyond the bounds of any previous identities and finding solid, grounded ways to express the strength and wisdom of who she is now.

Sun (18 Gemini) is now reaching a first quarter square with Uranus (18 Pisces) reminding us Uranus will be retrograde from June 23 to November 24, 2007. The Sun further fuels the unexpected changes Uranus facilitates that are designed to breakthrough old ways and concepts, illuminating cutting edge ideas and information that radically shifts our current perception of reality. This is the time to expect the unexpected.

June 10, Sun. The Aries Moon is conjunct Mars (20 Aries) suggesting it is time to even more actively engage with the current Mars quest for intimacy, pleasure, beauty, and receivership through gratitude. When healthy, Mars in Aries takes inspired action to further the cause they are committed to and believe is just and true. Mars began its current quest in November 2005 in the archetypal realm of Taurus. Mars has gone through his underworld journey releasing all the misconceptions about the true nature of intimacy as an art form and pleasure and beauty as paths to experience the Divine. Now it is time to take decisive action toward receiving the gifts of this archetype through genuine gratitude and appreciation of the gifts of beauty, intimacy, and sacred pleasure.

Stacey Robyn author of Go Gratitude reminds us that …

Gratitude plays a HU-uuuuge role in allowing us to gracefully flow past the remnants of our former selves, beyond old habits and patterns of creation without getting lost in the judgment, despair, anger or fear….

By being Grateful for what IS, we are able to rebuild our lives - one day at a time. You might wonder how . . .It is simply this - Gratitude opens our hearts to receive the wisdom of the experience, accelerating, supporting, and guiding (k)new choices - those that serve our highest good, and that of others, too!

So, just for today: Consider what (k)new patterns are emerging for you, giving thanks for your ability to intentionally design your life. What areas of life are you witnessing old patterns play out? What wisdom do these experiences have to share? How might you use this (k)newly gained insight to re-create patterns that feel good to you?

For today, a productive and useful way to take inspired and decisive action is to practice gratitude for all the beauty, pleasure, and intimacy you already experience in your life. If you are feeling lack in these areas, look for whatever expressions you already have to be grateful for and take time to give advanced gratitude for the experiences of beauty, intimacy, and pleasure you desire.

June 11, Mon. The Moon moves into Taurus reminding us to relax, slow down, savor, and enjoy each moment with gratitude. Sun (20 Gemini) sextiles Mars (20Aries) and Saturn (20 Leo) trines Mars (20 Aries). Mars represents the sacred masculine principle encountering opportunities to restructure and reformulate his worldly expression utilizing the illuminating energy of the Sun to fuel and guide his way. The new foundation is healthy when it is built from self-love.

June 12, Tue. The reformulation of the Grand Fire Trine now features Mars (20 Aries), Saturn (20 Leo), Jupiter (15 Sagittarius), and Pluto (27 Sag). This aspect is highlighted today; however, this influence is at play until Mars enters Taurus on June 25. This Grand Fire Trine has had varying expressions at least once each month this year as the Moon moves through Aries. Plus recently we have had the Sun, Venus, and Mercury pass through Aries and Mars arrived in Aries on May 15. Again, it helps to remember that the fire element operates in the realm of Spirit, animating and activating alchemical, vital life force energy that purifies and transforms.

It is your turn now, you waited, you were patient.
The time has come, for us to polish you.
We will transform your inner pearl into a house of fire.
You're a gold mine.
Did you know that, hidden in the dirt of the earth?
It is your turn now, to be placed in fire.
Let us cremate your impurities. ~ Rumi

June 13, Wed. The Moon moves into Gemini, opening the New Moon window, the Sun (22 Gemini) trines Neptune (22 Aquarius), and Mars (22 Aries) sextiles Neptune (22 Aquarius). This invokes the image of the Fool jumping empty handed into the void, completely surrendering the workings of the mind, having realized the mind cannot know it all. This is the surrender that takes us beyond logic and reason, where magically the laws of this reality (including gravity) no longer affect us.

The tiny waning Crescent Moon is moving towards the fixed Star Aldebaran, also known as the Eye of the Bull, possibly visible in the early morning sky before sunrise. The supportive energies of Aldebaran are available when we approach its mysteries with integrity, honor, and purity of intent. According to Starlight Elixirs and Cosmic Vibrational Healing by Michael Smulkis and Fred Rubenfeld, http://hilarion.com/stars.html, Aldebaran is linked with the original genetic coding that allowed for the experience of free will here on planet Earth and can help us in co-creating the experience of Heaven on Earth. The Moon is a transmitter, illuminating these mysteries and how we can more consciously engage them.

June 14, Thu. The Lunar Standstill Gemini New Moon (23 Gemini) is opposite Jupiter (15 Sag) and Pluto (27 Sag) energizing the realm of the Shaman Trickster Coyote who stretches us beyond rational, linear, and logical ways of thinking and expressing. This story of Coyote In Eden as retold by KieYoeT is not about a logical and rational experience, but rather, conjures up images and questions about the nature of duality, suggesting its purpose is to take us beyond the boring domain of perfection. Indeed, it is a reminder that “perfection itself isn’t good enough” and “perfection is insufficient to our liberation.”

God created all things in an idealistic way. God created Earth. God's brother, Coyote, walked up next to him on Earth. ‘Looks good, God.’ God created all of the plants, and animals. ‘Looks good, God.’ After a week, God got tired and decided to create another world. God was bored, so he left. Coyote stayed. Coyote noticed that Earth was boring. The land had no beautiful mountains or hills. It was flat. There were no waves. The sea was still. Every tree and plant grew in military rows. They gave only oranges and carrots. All of the animals were dumb, and there were none such as he and his brother, God. There was nothing to challenge these dumb animals because everything was perfect. They stayed the same.

Coyote got an idea. I will fix it. Coyote stomped on the ground and made the mountains and hills. Coyote splashed in the water and created falls, waves, and rain. Coyote threw the seeds of all the plants into the sky so that they would mix together. And Coyote made the animals fight and die. He created humans. These humans became smart and soon discovered Coyote. They blamed him for earthquakes, floods, brush fires, and tornados. They said he was bad. God came back to see Earth again. ‘What have you done Coyote?’ Coyote smiled.

June 15, Fri. The tiny new waxing Crescent Lunar Standstill Moon is setting in visible range of its near maximum northern declination or “out of bounds” degrees accessing a transmission point from beyond our galaxy. All we need to so is tune in and receive.

Mercury stations retrograde this afternoon at 11Cancer33 and goes direct July 09 at 02Cancer31. From the perspective of the Earth-based observer, Mercury retrograde appears to reverse directions in the sky. Now from an astronomical perspective, no planet actually reverses its direction; however, from the Earth, it appears that the Planet is retracing over the same star patterns that it just crossed. What we know is that when we observe a planet going retrograde, it affects our experience. This is similar to what it feels like when a faster moving car passes a slower moving car, creating the sensation that the slower car is moving backward. This reflects our Earth-based experience when Mercury goes retrograde. What we see is that Mercury slows down, reverses direction, slows down again, and returns to a direct motion, much like a pendulum.

Robert Wilkinson says in his book, A New Look at Mercury Retrograde, that retrograde Mercury is an opportunity for us to witness magic revealing itself so we can gain a greater understanding of how it works. If the magician slows way down, we can peek behind the veil, so to speak, of how magic works. The invisible becomes visible, the unknown becomes known. It is a time for fully exploring the magic and mystery of life in a way that is not always available to us.

This next three-week period is a great timing for engaging right-brained creative kinds of activities, doing inner healing processes, and completing projects already in motion. Also, Mercury retrograde is the classic time for misunderstandings to occur in communication. So it is important to make allowances in communications that require more rational and linear skills, checking to make sure what you say is being understood, and what you hear is what is actually being communicated. And…don’t forget to back up your computer if you haven’t done so recently.

June 16, Saturday. Moon conjuncts stationary retrograde Mercury, now at the Still Point of its cycle. Any retrograde station of a planet is one of two exact Still Points within that planetary cycle. Mercury is the fastest moving planet going retrograde more often than any other planet; and therefore, the Mercury Still Point is often more dramatically felt. Mercury is linked with Thoth/Hermes Trismegistus, the progenitor of the Emerald Tablets and Keeper of the Hall of Records. The Still Point or station point of Mercury provides access to the Hall of Records within our own being through the doorway of the retrograde station, especially when we are cultivating awareness through intention and attention to these mysteries. The Moon amplifies and further illuminates this possibility.

This quote from Conversations with God Book 3 by Neale Donald Walsh gives additional imagery.

In those moments during which you experience yourself being ‘revealed’ to yourself – whether these are what you call out-of-body experiences, or dreams, or magic moments of wakefulness when you are greeted by crystal clarity – what has happened is that you have simply slipped into ‘remembering.’ You are remembering what you have already created. And these rememberings can be very powerful. They can produce a personal epiphany.

June 17, Sunday. Today begins the special line-up of the Crescent Moon passing by Venus, Saturn, and Regulus that lasts until June 20. Check out the intro and Venus under the Visible Planets under the Intro.

The Moon moves into Leo transmitting the mysteries of our radiant and shining divine essence. We are the ones we have been waiting for, and we are each expressing important aspects of the Divine in physical form. It is time to shed the veil of forgetfulness and doubt, so we may more fully step into the radiance that we are with courage and confidence.

June 18, Monday. Moon occults Venus in the seventh Venus Moon conjunction since Venus rose as an evening star in early December, accelerating the energy of this passage of Venus through the last of her return gates out of the underworld. Venus is moving through the seventh initiatory Gate, sometimes called the “Gate of Authority,” where Venus retrieves her Crown, symbolizing her authority as Queen of Heaven and Earth and her reconnection with Source.

For those born in an eight year (8, 16, 24, 32, 40, 48, 56, 64, 72, 80, 88, 96, 104, etc.) turning one of these ages between Jan 20, 2006 to Aug 24, 2007, this is your personal Venus return and a great time to ceremonially enact the reclamation of these energies.

Once each year, retrograde Pluto (27 Sag) is opposite the Sun (27 Gemini), marking the center point of the Pluto retrograde. This also means that Pluto is rising as the Sun is setting and vice versa. The Sun Pluto connection is an intense initiation, illuminating our weaknesses, or more accurately, the places we believe ourselves to be weak. The following poem was written by my oldest son in 2000 when he was 18 years old. This is a powerful description of a Sun Pluto initiation describing the relentless demand of Pluto, how we might judge ourselves, and the need as well as the hesitation around surrendering to the process.

Where The Wicked Go To Pray
by Ryan Van Cleve

Sitting in the desert where the wicked go to pray
My body dry and burning in the blazing of the day
Surrounded by the searing of the Sun’s relentless light
Knowing that beneath my skin resides eternal night
Receiving no reprieve from the wide and cloudless sky
Only a mocking gaze from its hot, unblinking eye
If my heart would slow it’s beating, I may hold out ‘till the night
Where my soul can be embraced by the absence of the light
If my mind would cease its chatter I might sink beneath the sand
Hidden from the vengeance of the harsh, unfeeling hand
But, alas, I fear that I will not pass this test
For my body’s nearly broken and my spirit’s weak at best

June 19, Tuesday. Venus (13 Leo) trines retrograde Jupiter (13 Sag) and today also marks the seventh of ten Moon Saturn (21 Leo) occultations this year. This occultation is visible in Japan, Central Asia, and Eastern Europe. When the Moon occults (or covers) a planet, it acts to accelerate and intensify the energies uncovering the hidden essence of what is seeking form. Today’s Moon occultation of retrograde Saturn (21 Leo) accelerates the intended collective embodiment of radical self-love and what may still be needed to be transformed for this reality to manifest. Venus and Jupiter are adding their combined expansive energies and insights to help us remember and express from the truth of the Light we all carry within.

The following quote reminds us that the Light of Love shines within us. Today’s occultation reminds us that this Light can only be seemingly obscured or hidden for a short time, though it is always shining just like the light of the Sun is always shining, even when we cannot see it.

There is a light that shines beyond all things on earth, beyond us all, beyond the heavens, beyond the highest, the very highest heavens. This is the Light that shines in our heart.~ Chandogya Upanishad

June 20, Wed. Today opens the three day Summer Solstice window, and yesterday the Moon moved into Virgo transmitting the mysteries of Spider Woman who weaves the web of life. The Virgo Mysteries honor the pattering of life and staying in balance with the natural cycles and rhythms of Earth and Sky.

“…From star to tree to tree to insect, each fragment of creation is part of one design, the pattern of being, that extends unbroken from the otherworld to this world. The pattern is constantly in motion, connecting us in life and death to the Source of All Being.” ~Morgan Llwelyn Druids

The Sun is conjunct Betelgeuze, a giant red star marking the right shoulder of Orion, the Hunter; and part of the winter triangle including Sirius and Procyon, known in some cultures as Heaven’s Gate or the entry point into this dimension of experience. Ancient India connected this star to the Vedic storm-god Rudra, who was a form of Shiva, the transformer through destruction and re-creation. This star is now located near the June Solstice, drawing upon its transformative abilities to assist in this Turning of the Ages renovation of our earthly experience. Betelgeuze was thought to be a star that encouraged the pursuit of perfection and high level achievement. In these transforming times, the standards or ideals of perfection are not what they once were, as our understanding changes. Worldly perfection and accomplishment does not necessarily create inner peace and joy. When the focus shifts to accepting the inner perfection we already possess then our external world experience shifts that reflect our acceptance. (See June 14.)

June 21, Thu. Happy Summer Solstice. The Sun crosses the Galactic Plane and the June Solstice point when it enters zero Cancer (11:07 am PDT and 2:07 pm EDT) currently located in the area of the sky marking the center of the Sacred Hoop where the ecliptic (the path the planets travel) and the Milky Way intersect along the Galactic Plane looking out into deep space, also known as the Galactic Edge. This intersection point is located between horns of the Bull and the feet of the Twins. (See Difference between Signs and Constellations.)

The Solstice and Equinox points form the four gates or four directions of the celestial medicine wheel and are activated by the Sun in a rhythmic seasonal cycle. Solstice literally means “stand still of the Sun” meaning the Sun rises and sets at the same place on the horizon for three days appearing to stand still. Many of our ancestors had an active and conscious relationship with these cycles and seasons, creating standing stone circles and other monuments to assist in tracking these timings for the purpose of capturing or maximizing the incoming energies activated during these seasonal shifts. Working with these seasonal gates strengthens our own relationship with the magical mysteries of the seasonal cycles between the Earth and the Sky.

Mars (27 Aries) trines Pluto (27 Sag) completing its last exact aspect in this Grand Fire Trine energy. (See June 12.)

June 22, Fri. Today’s First Quarter Moon (1 Libra) is near the September Equinox point now located at the North Galactic Pole. The zero Libra cardinal point is currently aligned with the North Galactic Pole lying 90 degrees north of the Galactic Plane looking beyond our Galaxy where the constellation of Coma Berenices resides. (See Sept 2000 CT Archives.)

Tuning into this area of the sky enhances our intergalactic connections and our understanding of Time and Space. The North Galactic Pole accesses multi-dimensional energy, providing a doorway to other realms and galaxies, further facilitating our understanding of how to consciously exist in many realms simultaneously. Accessing the mysteries from this multi-dimensional perspective through the lens of archetypal Libra, we are reminded of the importance of our relationship to not only each other, our Earth, and the Sky, but also all the inter-galactic realms that are assisting in the transformation and ascension of the Earth at this time.

June 23, Sat. Uranus stations Retrograde (18Pisces41) until November 24, when it stations direct at 14Pisces46. The retrograde station lends itself to deepening the shift in our perceptual experience through unexpected and sometimes even dramatic changes based on whatever is needed to create the shift. It is helpful to go within for greater awareness of the changes occurring internally. External events tend to reflect the internal changes and are often unexpected. It helps to remember that these sometimes dramatic events and insights are intended as gifts of change and evolution.

June 24, Sun. The Waxing Moon enters Scorpio today energizing the mysteries of alchemical transformation through conscious death and rebirth. Scorpio connects to our heart’s passion and what needs to die, i.e. what beliefs, ideas, concepts, habits, and attitudes can we shed, release, or transform to support the fullest connection to passionate, alive, life force energy? One of the ways the Scorpio archetype expressed in ancient times was through the oracular Snake Goddesses (embodied through the Snake Priestess) whose prophetic powers were highly valued and sought after. This reminds us then that the Scorpio Moon can also be a powerful timing to tune in to the prophetic messages coming from deep within our own knowing and from within the Earth herself.

Mars moves into Taurus, traveling through this realm until August 6. This begins the elder and wisdom phase of the current Mars cycle that will last until Mars enters Cancer in late September. This is because Mars will begin a new 26-month cycle in Cancer when it reaches opposition to the Sun on December 24, 2007. From now until August 6, the sacred Masculine principle is exploring the mysteries of sacred pleasure, intimacy and beauty as a highly spiritual experience. Imagine if we lived in a world that honored beauty and pleasure as our highest sacred expression?

Imagine living in a world that truly valued intimacy and enjoyment while also celebrating and receiving them as sacred expressions of life. Imagine living in a world where the sacred feminine and the sacred masculine are both equally honored for their unique differences and equally important contributions, providing a sound basis for balance and harmony. Then moving beyond imagination into the realm of decisive action, Mars indicates this is the time to act in ways that support these images manifesting into our reality.

June 25, Mon. Saturn’s (22 Leo) World of Form and limit condition is opposing and therefore encountering Neptune’s (22 Aquarius) World of Formlessness beyond the boundaries of this world in the field of all possibilities. Saturn and Neptune have been dancing in opposition since last year with the first exact opposition on August 31, 2006, the second was on February 28, and today is the last exact opposition.

These next few months continue to be an excellent opportunity for accessing the “field of dreams” or the “field of all possibilities” and dreaming our heart-felt desires into practical form. How do we bring the boundless into the boundaries of this reality, enriching our experience and connection with infinite Source??? This question, or one like it, helps to activate your inner knowing, guiding you to the answers that will work best for you.

The Mayan Oracle by Ariel Spilsbury and Michael Bryner reminds us that

“At a certain point when a critical threshold of energy has been focused on a clear intent such as world peace, the underlying constructs of reality shift and a new reality begins filtering into human experience. Make no mistake: great change is seeded by conscious dreamers who understand and know that they are co-creating the larger dream.” http://www.risingstarlc.com/mayan.htm

June 26, Tue. Saturn (22 Leo) is near a fixed yellow star called Algenubi or Ras Elased Bore that marks the brow of the Lion and is one of the six stars in the sickle that marks the head and Heart of the Lion. This star has been associated with abundance, increasing bounty, majesty, power, and the bestowing of favors, suggesting this is a good star to wish upon. It was also thought to be a star that had the ability to transmit spiritual knowing to those receptive to this type of transmission. With Saturn here, there is an opportunity to structure this spiritual knowing into a practical application that supports consciously living more fully from our divine nature. http://users.winshop.com.au/annew/cons0.htm

June 27, Wed. Moon moves into Sagittarius, and occults the fixed star Antares, Heart of the Scorpion, visible in New Zealand, Antarctica, Chile, Argentina. As stated in the May Celestial Timings, Antares is also one of 15 Behenian fixed stars considered especially useful for magical applications in the medieval astrology of Europe and the Arab world. The Behenian stars were considered a source of astrological power when one or more planets were conjunct. This suggests an occultation of Antares accesses or uncovers the potency of the star in an out of the ordinary way. It was believed that when a planet was within six degrees of a Behenian star, the star’s influence was greatly heightened, and Jupiter is now within three degrees of Antares during this occultation.

The July 25 occultation will find Jupiter even closer within less than a degree of Antares. One way to view this is that each occultation of Antares is increasing the frequency or vibrational energy that comes to Earth via the Moon. The Antares Moon occultations always occur in a series around the years of the Lunar Standstill activating a harmonic that increases the vibrational frequency coming directly to Earth via the Moon occultations over Antares. It just so happens that this year Jupiter in its 12-year cycle is also stationing direct exactly conjunct Antares, magnifying and expanding the lunar occultation effect. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Behenian_fixed_star.

June 28, Thu. Lunar Standstill Moon conjuncts Jupiter, Sun conjuncts retrograde Mercury. The Sun and retrograde Mercury meet (07 Cancer) beginning a new cycle of Mercury that will last about 120 days until the next Sun conjunction with Retrograde Mercury. Mercury symbolizes our mind, our style of thinking, perception, cognition, and communication, or said another way: through what archetypal lens we perceive our reality. Mercury in Cancer operates through the feelings and deep inner knowing that is not based in logic or reason though it may actually be logical in its outward expression. When heart and mind are harmoniously synchronized in the Cancer realm. then creative expression and communication are maximized, especially when we are practicing nurturing ourselves and those around us. A safe nurturing environment provides Cancer with a healthy space for their most brilliant and insightful communication to occur.

June 29, Fri. Lunar Standstill Moon conjuncts Pluto at Galactic Center (Hunab Ku) crossing the Galactic Gateway. The Mayans considered Hunab Ku to be the ultimate creator and conscious principle that organizes all matter in the manifest creation. The Mayas also felt that Hunab Ku or Galactic Center constantly gives birth to new stars and planets, as well as being the portal or gateway to other galaxies beyond ours, and that everything that happens in our Galaxy comes from the center through cyclical energy waves or bursts. Scientists are now concluding that Galactic Center is not only consuming huge amounts of matter but it is also giving birth to stars, etc. as well. http://www.aztlan.net/rumblings_center_galaxy.htm.

Remarkably, this year and next year is the window of Pluto’s exact alignment with the galactic core (for the first time in 248 years), and at the same time, the Moon is located at its 19-year lunar extreme. When we consider how the center of the galaxy influences our evolutionary experience in general, and then we add Jupiter and Pluto’s alignment here in the time of the Lunar Standstill, along with the Sun’s passage each year during the December Solstice (something that can only happen for a period of time during a 26,000 year cycle), then we know there is a beyond-the-ordinary activation occurring, creating a frequency shift or harmonic re-calibration as it relates to us individually within our collective space-time-grid experience.

June 30, Sat. Capricorn Full Moon (8 Capricorn) is located in the degrees of the Lunar Standstill “out of bounds” Moon in the area of the Galactic Gateway where new, creatively-inspired energies pour into this dimensional realm. Capricorn is the archetypal energy most familiar with how Spirit manifests into form, and how to efficiently, effectively and responsibly administrate these new forms of manifestation for the benefit of the generations to come.

Venus (22 Leo) opposes Neptune (22 Aquarius) energizing experiences producing great magic and feelings of great love. Romance writer Nora Roberts says, “Love and magic have a great deal in common. They enrich the soul, delight the heart. And they both take practice.”

Venus is often associated with the Goddess of Love. Neptune reminds us that we find all the answers about love and life within ourselves, as external circumstances can be deceptive and confusing. The great Sufi poet, Rumi, describes an essential aspect of the Venus Neptune journey, mentioning where confusion can occur if we begin by looking outside of ourselves, and then later realizing that the love or lover we seek is within us all along.

Rumi Poem 1246
The minute I heard my first love story
I started looking for you,
not knowing how blind that was.

Lovers don’t finally meet somewhere.
They’re in each other all along.

On the evenings of June 30th and July 1st, Venus and Saturn will be a striking pair in the western sky.
