June 2008 Celestial Timings
By Cayelin K Castell

The Mid-point of the current 130 year Venus Passages between 2004 and 2012.

June features an intriguingly significant Venus Sun conjunction that is marking the exact half way point between the June 2004 and the June 2012 Venus transits over the face of the Sun. The initiatory energy that was activated in June 2004 is undergoing a deepening this month on June 8 when Venus meets with the Sun in the exact area of the sky where the 2004 transit/initiation occurred exactly four years after the first transit and four years until the next transit. This half way point however finds Venus on the other side of the Sun (or behind the Sun from the Earth’s perspective) and out of our view for about 75 days re-emerging into the evening sky around July 15.

When Venus is on the other side of the Sun she is the furthest away from Earth and spends anywhere from 60 to 90 days off the world stage meaning Venus is not visible in either the morning or evening sky. In 2004 Venus was retrograde and closest to the Earth passing between the Earth and the Sun moving from the evening to the morning sky in about 8 days. The alignment then was such that Venus could be seen crossing the face of the Sun in certain parts of the world. Currently Venus is furthest away from the Earth on the other side of the Sun, for about 75 days, in direct motion, and in the process of moving from morning star to evening star. So we see this is in the exact opposite part of the Venus cycle as compared to when Venus is transiting the face of the Sun.

The Mayans and other ancient cultures closely tracked the Venus cycle and the transits of Venus over the Sun because they knew these transits marked major shifts in the collective experience. The 2004 Transit began an eight year global initiation and awakening of humanity beyond anything we have previously experienced. The 2012 Venus Transit completes this eight year initiatory window. Therefore this half way point is intended to remind us of this initiatory process calibrating our awareness to reach beyond our current global consciousness expanding to encompass incoming inter-galactic codes and information. This is partly due to the Venus passages occurring at the Galactic edge letting us know that this initiation reaches beyond our Galaxy and extends far into the Universe.

2004 image of Venus crossing the SunWith both the June 7, 2004 and June 5, 2012 Venus passages (in some areas the dates are a day later) over the Sun occurring near the Galactic Edge the essence of these transits are activating a Venus Stargate that will be fully functional by the 2012 Venus transit. The rarity of this Venus transit eight year window near the Summer Solstice occurs every 243 years. The last pair of Gemini Venus transits occurred in 1761 and 1769 and at that time we had not yet reached the Galactic Alignment that is taking place now. (See June 8 Celestial Timings for more details on the years between Venus transits)

The exact 26,000 year Galactic Alignment we are currently experiencing began when the Solstice points moved within one degree of the two Galactic Crosses (where the Ecliptic or plane of the Solar System and the Milky Way or Plane of the Galaxy intersect). We entered the one degree zone in 1926 and will leave the one degree zone in 2070 based on the calculations of astronomer Jean Muess. He calculated the exact center point to be May, 1998. The Solstice points move about one degree every 72 years so adding 72 years before and after May, 1998 gives us the 144 year window. So we know astronomically that May, 1998 was the exact alignment however there are many rare and significant Celestial events occurring in 2012 including the completion of the Venus Transit Initiatory Window that is providing us with a further acceleration of greater awakening and appreciation of the divine feminine energy as an essential key in the transformative process of the Turning of the Ages.

Depicting the Horns of the Bull Another factor worth noting is the location of the Venus Passage occurring in the same area of the sky in both 2004 and 2012 (as well as this year 2008 at the mid-point). All three events are occurring between the Horns of the Bull a.k.a Taurus. Ancient cultures looked to this area of the sky for special Celestial Events to let them know when the ages were shifting. This information from the Fixed Star site further illustrates this.

This Star Map shows the Horns of the Bull on either side of the word Taurus.

The Great Bull of Heaven is linked with the end of each of the four ages; (the bull it is said) withdraws one of its hooves from the ground. When all are free the foundations of the world will be destroyed. Shiva's 'perfect horn' is the crescent Moon. The first letter of the Hebrew alphabet. 'aleph, which means "bull", is the symbol of the moon in its first week and also the name of the sign of the zodiac where the moon's mansions begin' (ELIT p.178). Many letters of the alphabet, hieroglyphs and ideograms are simultaneously associated with the phases of the Moon and with the bull's horns, the latter often compared with the crescent Moon.
http://www.constellationsofwords.com/Constellations/Taurus.html

In addition to the Venus transit and this month’s Sun Venus conjunction occurring in this area of the sky we also have the tiny new Crescent Moon setting between 9:30 and 10 pm local time on June 4 near the tips of the horns of the Great Bull of Heaven pointing to the Galactic Edge. It was 6,500 years ago the ancients knew we were at a Turning of an Age when they saw the Crescent Moon near the Horns of the Bull at the Spring Equinox. We are now one quarter turn later when the Summer Solstice is located where the Spring Equinox was 6,500 years ago.

Clearly it is no accident that we have chosen to be here on Earth at this time as witness to this grand cosmic unfolding. Our conscious participation, appreciation and awareness of these events help determine what is now seeking manifestation through what we are imagining and energizing in our hearts. As Carl Jung reminded us it is essential as conscious participants with this significant turning of the great galactic wheel that we “dream the dream onward”

Working Ceremonially with the Celestial Timings
(i.e Venus Passages, Solstice, Equinoxes, Full and New Moon’s etc.)

The Sacred Drum - Sounds for Ritual and Rhythm www.thewildrose.net/drumteam.html

When we engage in ceremony during special astronomical events like this month’s Summer Solstice, this month’s four year mid-point of the Venus passages over the Sun, any New or Full Moon, or any of the rare planetary and stellar alignments taking place now, our intentions are greatly magnified. These ceremonies may include prayers, meditation, dance, drumming, singing, chanting or any of the many other creative ways we have to celebrate life, energize our intentions, and deeply connect with the unfolding Great Mystery.

One of the best ways to participate with a cosmic event is to include ceremonial drumming with intention. The intent may be as simple as open heartedly experiencing whatever in-the-moment energies are present. Perhaps you have a specific intent for health, well-being, or planetary awakening that promotes global unity and peace between all people and their various cultures. Whatever your intent and wherever you are, either with others or by yourself, ceremonial drumming (and or chanting) is one of the fastest ways to realign your body and bring you into harmony with the sacred patterning of life.

Studies are now showing that drumming activates our immune systems and is effective in treating depression, trauma, sleep disorders, chronic pain, stress and so on. Drumming helps us connect more fully with our spiritual, mental and physical bodies and when done ceremonially can produce an altered state of awareness deepening our connection to the vital essence and wisdom of our soul and the greater cosmic reality.

Indigenous cultures everywhere have used drumming for connecting with the heartbeat of the Earth, journeying, healing work, and as a way to deepen our connection to the magical link between the Earth and Sky and between Soul and Spirit. It also opens the pathway into the cosmic hologram where we can access the greater mysteries including our relationship to the starry realms.

Defining Star Magnitudes
Magnitude (or visibility) lessens as the number increases. For example, a first magnitude star is one hundred times brighter than a sixth magnitude star and a sixth magnitude star is barely visible to the naked eye. Venus can reach as high as -4.6 magnitude and is the very brightest object beside the Moon in our night sky. The Full Moon is -12 magnitude and the Sun is a -27 magnitude. Sirius is the brightest fixed star and is visually rated as a -1.42 magnitude.

Visible Planets (for greater details about these events see the Daily Timings section)

Invisible Planets

Meteor ShowersLyrid Meteor Shower
June 7 the Arietids peak and are favored with a New Moon though it helps to be near the equator to see them.
June 15 Lyrids peak though not much has been observed from them in recent years. Look towards bright star Vega in the Summer Triangle and the Pole Star 13,000 years ago.
June 27 Bootids peak best observing in Northern Hemisphere. Look to constellation Bootes where Arcturus is located. This one is known for very slow meteors.

Stars worth noting in the Night Sky this Month
This month the Milky Way is more visible as it shifts or turns up enough to come into view though it is still not the best visibility. Last month the Milky Way was lying flat around the horizon so it was barely visible.

Also prominent this month is the constellation of the Virgin Priestess (a.k.a. Virgo) containing seven main stars. The most visible star in this group is the bright bluish white star Spica, meaning "spike of grain." Higher in the sky and a bit to the right of Spica is the star Denebola which forms the lion's tail in the constellation also known as Leo. If you follow a direct line from Spica to the upper left you will see the bright red star Arcturus. These three stars Arcturus, Denebola, and Spica form what is sometimes called the Spring Triangle best viewed from April to June. Plus, we have the perfect 30-60-90 degree triangle formed by Arcturus, Spica and Regulus (the heart of the lion). Look East/Southeast to spot both triangles. (See August 2007 Archives for more about Arcturus, Spica and Regulus triangle.)

Daily Timings (including interpretations for each day of the month)
June 1, Sunday. June begins with a Earth Grand Trine including the Moon in Taurus, Pluto and Jupiter in Capricorn and Saturn in Virgo. By the end of June Pluto will have moved back into Sagittarius and we will experience a brief Grand Fire Trine. (see June 27) As the Moon moves through Taurus much of this year it completes a Grand Earth Trine anchoring the massive changes we are all undergoing through the grounded, practical influence of the Earth Energies. The process of planetary and galactic change is so highly accelerated now it helps to have the stabilizing influence of the middle world initiators, Jupiter and Saturn traveling through the Earth Signs. Virgo is most linked with the sacred honoring of Mother Earth and Capricorn most linked with useful applications that “grow corn” or get viable results. With Jupiter and Saturn moving through Capricorn and Virgo this entire year we have a practical anchor we can connect with to help us navigate all the radical changes.

Also today the Sun (11 Gemini) and Venus (9 Gemini) are conjunct Aldebraran, the eye of the Bull inside the Sacred Hoop. Aldebaran and Venus are not visible as they are with the Sun. The Sun acts as a doorway to the mysteries of Aldebaran and Venus. Interestingly, Aldebaran is about 150 times brighter than our Sun and is an access point going beyond this reality as it is located in an area of the sky near the Galactic Edge where we are most likely to receive intergalactic information and assistance as the Earth ends and begins a critical 26,000 year cycle. (See June 2)

Plus, Mars (12 Leo) and South Node (21 Leo) are traveling within 10 degrees of each other all month reaching their exact alignment on June 14 (20 Leo). The South Node represents our past and all that has come before and Mars represents the active Masculine principle. When Mars meets the South Node in Leo it is an opportunity for the masculine principle to look at how well he is doing with the principles of healthy self-love, self-acceptance, and self-forgiveness. A key to this process is knowing that everything that has happened to this point, no matter how dramatic or confusing, is all part of an unfolding divine plan designed to wake us up for the purpose of fully embodying our divine nature. This understanding helps the process of self-forgiveness including forgiving ourselves for all the mistakes we feel we have ever made.

Nasa image of the Pleiades birthing a star

June 2, Monday. The Moon passes by the Pleiades as it slips into Gemini and then conjuncts Venus (10 Gemini) in this first day of the New Moon window exact tomorrow at 12:23 pm Pacific Time and Chiron and the North Node are within one degree (exact tomorrow due to Chiron’s Retrograde). Venus (10 Gemini) is not visible because she is so close to the Sun (12 Gemini) and the waning crescent may not be visible in the morning sky either. However we do have the Sun and Venus closely conjunct Aldebaran the eye of the Bull and one of the magical Behenian Stars. Additionally retrograde Mercury is at 19 Gemini on its way back to 13 Gemini the same degree as tomorrow’s New Moon. Checking back 40 years we find Venus and the Sun all met together on June 18, 1968 at 18 Gemini and Mercury was retrograde at 17 Gemini. This means all three Venus, Mercury and the Sun are located in the same area of the sky they were 40 years ago. This is known as a synodic return when a planet or planets return with Sun. (see intro and June 7, 8 and 17).

Anyone turning age 40 or 80 this year is experiencing a Venus, Mercury return and if your 40th or 80th birthday is in June this is an especially important time for you. The ancient builders of Solomon’s temple tracked the Venus cycle and were particular interested in the eastern rise (or morning star) expression of Venus with Mercury for extended periods of time rather than the typical few days they may spend together. This was seen as a powerfully transformative time that was referred to as the return of the Shekinah or Divine Feminine. (See The Book of Hiram by Christopher Knight and Robert Lomas.) From the end of February through early May when Venus dropped into the underworld Venus and Mercury were visible within 10 degrees of each other in the morning sky. It is rare for Venus and Mercury to spend such a long time together in the morning sky.

The last time Mercury and Venus were together for such a long time in this area of the sky was 40 years ago in 1968 and prior to that it was 1928. The other part of the story is that Venus and Mercury are still in close conjunction with each other though Venus is not visible as she in her underworld journey. Mercury is traveling with the Sun from May 31 to June 14 meeting with the Sun on June 7.

We can look back to those times to get an idea of how these energies expressed then but more importantly is what is happening now and the opportunity we have to consciously participate with this process by what we are thinking, feeling, saying and doing. (See June 8 and 17)

June 3, Tuesday. The Gemini New Moon (13 Gemini 34) is within 3.5 degrees of Aldebaran further illuminating its magical powers in this New Moon seed point. It is important to note that Mercury stations direct near Aldebaran at the New Moon degree on June 19.

Today’s New Moon is especially potent as the New Moon is also at Perigee or its closest approach to Earth in this Lunar Cycle. When the New and Perigee Moon occur together tides are highest and weather patterns are far more unpredictable and unusual. Last month also featured a New Moon at Perigee along with highly unusual weather patterns including record cold in many areas, a record numbers of damaging tornadoes as well as the massive Earth Quakes in China. This occurs because the magnetic pull of the Moon on the Earth is magnified when we have a New Moon or Full Moon at Perigee.

This New Moon features Mercury and Venus in close conjunction further emphasizing the Crazy Wisdom of Gemini. This Crazy Wisdom poem was written by my youngest son (who has a Gemini Sun) last year when he was 17 and is a great reminder to go with the flow and to have fun.

Chill by Jeremy Brent

What we all really need is some emancipation
Something to get out of this relentless frustration
Slow down and stop this train of devastation
Quite your mind and start the relaxation
Just put your worries down
And be soothed by my sound
My gift to you is peace
Now let’s spread it around
I bet your life's been hard
At least from time to time
I know for a fact
Because your life is mine
You may think you’re different
But we are really the same
We all have been played
And put through this game
Causing us all to feel so much pain
Where day after day feels like torrents of rain
Well I've been through my shit
And I know I am not done
I know that the true shit hasn't even begun

But I never ever worry
About the pain that may come
Even though there’s nowhere to hide
and nowhere to run
Cause I took my Daddy's word
From father to son
Life is how you make it
So just make it fun
Stop worrying about the little shit
That comes and goes
You’re alive and healthy
That is all you need know
When things pile up
Just take it slow
Life gets much harder
When you’re not in the flow
I guarantee
If you worry and send out negative vibes
The universe sends them straight back to your lives.

June 4, Wednesday. The tiny crescent “out of bounds” Moon enters zero Cancer and crosses the Galactic Edge at 2:16 pm Pacific Time. This means by Sunset tonight the potentially visible crescent Moon will have moved just beyond the exact Galactic Edge between the tips of the horns of the Bull and the feet of the Twins. All last year and in all of 2006 and 2005 the Lunar Standstill Moon has been a feature of the Celestial Timings. We have moved beyond the Lunar extreme that defines the Lunar Standstill, however we are still in the window of what is referred to as the ‘out of bounds’ Moon, meaning the Moon is still rising and setting beyond the reach of Sun’s furthest northern and southern rise and set that occurs at the Solstices.

This is important because the Moon is still accessing and transmitting energies from beyond our galactic realm indicating we are still in the process of receiving new inter-galactic downloads including new light codes, new information, and new vibrational frequencies beyond the bounds of our current life experience. This means we are being stretched beyond the edge of our known galactic reality in ways that are perfectly orchestrated for continued release of the old forms and expansion into new ways of experiencing life.

June 5, Thursday. Saturn (2 Virgo) and Pluto (0 Capricorn) remain in a tight trine most of this month. Pluto does retrograde back into Sagittarius on June 13 though it remains in an out-of-element trine relationship (Sagittarius is a fire sign) with Saturn for a few more weeks. The out-of- element trine is interesting to note as archetypally Virgo and Sagittarius do have similarities because they are both signs Shamanic Astrology refers to as In Service to Spirit. Sagittarius serves spirit through one-pointed dedication to the quest for enlightenment. Virgo serves spirit through their reverence and dedication to the sacred expression of life as their most sacred function or work.

In the many ancient Earth-based cultures there were special members of the tribe who had the Virgo Job. They were the keepers of the mysteries, the reverence for life and attuning to the pattern of the Earth and Sky. They were the sky watchers, watching the Sun and the seasons so they knew the best times to plant, to call for the rains, to harvest and to call for the return of the Sun at the Winter Solstice.

Morgan Llwelyn writes about one of these cultures in her book Druids.

The principle obligation of the druids was to keep Man and Earth and the Otherworld in Harmony. The three were inextricably interwoven and they knew these worlds must be in a state of balance or catastrophe would follow. As the repositories of a 1000 years of tribal wisdom, the druids knew how to maintain that balance.

Honor the Earth. Treat her with the love and reverence due your own Mothers for without them both you would not, could not, exist.

June 6, Friday. The Moon enters Leo and is visible approaching Mars (15 Leo) tonight and Venus (15 Gemini) is sextile Mars (15 Leo) though Venus is not visible due to her close proximity to the Sun. Mars is located at the Lammas or Lughnasah Cross-quarter point where the Sun is located in early August marking the point in the sky half-way between the Summer Solstice and the Autumnal Equinox. The Cross-Quarter points represent an in-between space and are activated whenever a planet crosses over them. This is especially important now as the Moon will occult Mars tomorrow night suggesting the doorway between worlds is actively open now.

June 7, Saturday. Moon occults Mars (15 Leo) visible in New Zealand. Sun, Venus and Mercury align in a triune council inside the Sacred Hoop as they all are approaching the Star Map of the Constellation of the Lion Galactic Edge. (See June 8)

This diagram shows the constellation of the Lion. The head of the Lion looks like a sickle or backward question mark that is easy to spot in the night sky. The ecliptic, the path of the planets including the Sun, is just south of Regulus about half a degree and is where we will be seeing Mars and Saturn over this next month. Planets near visible fixed stars, lying close to the ecliptic like Regulus, act as access points helping to deepen our connection with these star energies. http://www.astro.uiuc.edu/~kaler/sow/leo-t.html

June 8, Sunday. The Moon conjuncts Regulus and then slips into Virgo. Plus today marks the exact Venus Sun conjunction (18 Gemini) or the mid-point of the feminine underworld journey currently in process until July 15. In the unfolding divine cosmic expression it is interesting to find this timing is also marking the exact mid-point between two very rare Venus transits over the face of the Sun spaced eight years apart as stated in the June Introduction. The first was June 8, 2004 and the second will occur on June 5-6, 2012 visible in its entirety from Hawaii, Alaska, Australia, the Pacific and eastern Asia, with the beginning of the transit visible from North America.

Since about 303 AD the Venus Transits have been occurring in pairs and will continue to do so through 3956. The last Venus Passage (pair) occurred about 130 years ago in 1874 and 1882. The next pair will occur 113.5 years from this one, in 2117 and 2125. Each Venus transit has its own unique path. 130 to 122 years ago we had the last two Venus transits in 1874 and 1882 occurring near the December Solstice when Venus was retrograde in Sagittarius. 105 and 113 years from now the next pair of Venus transits occur in 2117 and 2125 when Venus is again retrograde in Sagittarius. Thus the Venus passages over the over the face of the Sun alternate from Gemini to Sagittarius and then back to Gemini in an elegant consistent pattern.

The 1769 Venus transit when Venus made her transit over the Sun in the sign of Gemini we had one of the first scientific global efforts. The mission was to track the transit from various locations on the Earth and based on those calculations scientists were able to determine the distance of the Earth from the Sun. The most well known story came from Captain Cook. http://science.nasa.gov/headlines/y2004/28may_cook.htm .

Historically Venus Transits over the Sun have marked significant cultural changes around the world. This URL describes some of the Earth Changes that have occurred during the years of the Venus Transit as well as ones we are experiencing now. http://www.newdawnmagazine.com/Article/Venus_Transit.html

We are currently at the center point between two Venus transits with Venus conjunct the Sun in her long underworld phase (May 2 to July 15) representing a time of shamanic death and rebirth. Surrendering to what IS and what IS unfolding is a primary key to navigating these unprecedented times. We are in totally new territory cosmically, collectively, and biologically speaking and it is all being divinely guided in every moment. It is much easier and a whole lot more fun for us when we surrender and accept the process. (See June 2 and 17)

June 9, Monday. Moon conjuncts Saturn (3 Virgo) near the magical star Regulus. This Timing is in the Window of the Exact Venus conjunction with the Sun that is further opening the doorway into brand new territory. The Moon, Saturn, Regulus conjunction reminds us of the importance of tuning into our heart knowing for guidance. The more we love ourselves, the Earth, each other and the entire creation the easier the transition from the Old Earth to the New Earth will be. This is about pure love that does not have to be earned but rather Just IS. This happens most easily through the practice of surrender and the willingness to embrace pure love without conditions, without judgments, and without personal agendas. When we are coming from love then we are beautifully aligned with the evolving cosmic dance.

June 10, Tuesday. The exact First Quarter Moon is today (20 Virgo) and the Sun and Venus are still within one degree at (20 Gemini). The First Quarter Moon accelerates growth and in Virgo is reminding us of the importance of our connection to the patterning of life. When we are intuitively attuned to the pattern great magic, or what others call luck, we manifest our visions and dreams more easily. When we deviate from the natural patterning of life we lose contact with the magical forces that have the power to positively influence events. When things are flowing easily we know we are in alignment with the natural pattern.

June 11, Wednesday. The Moon moves into Libra at 2:55 am Pacific Time reminding us of the power to learn more about ourselves through our interaction with others and the message they have for us. Everyone we encounter reflects to us a part of ourselves. Sometimes we find what is being reflected is an aspect of ourselves we have a judgment about or don’t like. Conversely we may find the other person is reflecting something we truly appreciate and value. It is likely the message for us from another person is in our response to them and our response reflects to us where we are in our process and how we are relating to life.

June 12, Thursday. The Sun and Venus (22 Gemini) are squaring Uranus (22 Pisces) adding unexpected revolutionary changes being transmitted from the Celestial World to Venus in her Underworld process. The Celestial World initiations are reminders of the power of Loving Grace to transform our lives in an instant. Grace is not something we can earn by being good enough or doing enough. Grace does not happen in ways that are logical and rational and often comes in the least expected moments of absolute surrender, when we are simply being with what IS.

“What is grace” I asked God.

And He said,
“All that happens.”

Then He added, when I looked perplexed,

“Could not lovers
say that every moment in their Beloved’s arms
was grace?

Existence is my arms,
though I well understand how one can turn

away from
me

until the heart has
wisdom.”

June 13, Friday. Today is an infamous Friday the 13th. Friday is the day the week named after Venus in her Norse Goddess incarnation Freya. In ancient times, this was a day earth-based cultures honored the Goddess staying home from normal work routines to celebrate her various expressions of love. This was later discouraged by the religious and political leaders proclaiming both Friday and the number 13 unlucky.

Interestingly because the way our months are set up, the 13th falls on Friday slightly more often than any other day of the week. This is the only month Friday falls on the 13th in 2008. In 2009 Friday falls on the 13th in February, March and November. When we remember Friday the 13th was once considered a lucky and sacred day then we can celebrate this time rather than feel afraid of what might happen.

The Moon moves into Scorpio energizing the mysteries of death and Rebirth, Venus (23 Gemini) trines retrograde Neptune (23 Aquarius) providing the divine feminine a direct portal to the Celestial Reams and Pluto moves back into Sagittarius until November 26 when it returns to zero Capricorn.

Pluto’s move back into Sagittarius provides an opportunity to deepen the Sagittarian quest for enlightenment and bringing the shadow aspects of this archetype to the light of our awareness where it can be transformed. This was described by Carl Jung when he said; “Enlightenment consists of NOT merely seeing luminous shapes and visions, but in making the darkness visible. The latter procedure is more difficult, and therefore, unpopular”.
Sagittarius is an energy that prefers to seek the light and when out of balance becomes “light polarized” denying there is a shadow or that darkness does in fact exist.

Pluto, however, relentlessly excavates the shadow, especially as it relates to our authentic selves, persistently bringing our fears and whatever is being denied to the light of our awareness through circumstances beyond our control. Willingness to embrace the uncomfortable, dark places within is the magical key to transforming them into our strength.

June 14, Saturday. The Sun (23 Gemini) trines recently retrograde Neptune (23 Aquarius) and the South Node and Mars are exactly conjunct (20 Leo) today and tomorrow though the influence of this Timing lasts all this month. (See June 1, 15)

When the outer planets trine the Sun they are always retrograde and nearly stopped in the sky. This creates a Still Point or access point into the deeper mysteries of the Planet. Neptune is a Celestial World planet connected to the field of all possibilities. In this Still Point nexus (or link) between This World and the Celestial World we can more easily connect with spirit or what the Druids called “Awen “ (breath of divine inspiration). In some Druid practices the word “Awen” is chanted as a way to open a person to the flow of inspiration and energy coming from the Celestial Realms. If you feel guided to do so this is a great time to test out this practice and see if it works for you. druidnetwork.org/en/lightning/glossary/index.html

June 15, Sunday. Happy Father’s Day. The South Node Mars (20 Leo) conjunction draws our attention to any unresolved matters from the past that prevents the Sacred Masculine principle from fulfilling his divine destiny. Liberation from limiting habits, attitudes, and expectations of how life should, or should not, be comes from making different choices and releasing the need to be right. Mars began its new quest in the Cancer domain last December and therefore this connection to the South Node and all the gathered wisdom as well as misconceptions about healthy Family connections are up for review.

June 16, Monday. The Moon moves into Sagittarius energizing the quest for truth and enlightenment. Also today the Sun (28 Gemini) is making its annual zodiacal alignment with the fixed star Polaris (in the constellation of Ursa Minor). Polaris currently marks the North Star or the only star in our night sky that does not move but remains fixed while all the other stars turn around it. As the current primary navigational star, Polaris has the ability to help guide us when we take time to tune into its energies. The Sun is zodiacally aligned with Polaris every year around this time, and because Polaris is not on the ecliptic (the path the planets follow) it remains visible throughout the year Sky Map locating Polaris .

To locate Polaris step outside and look toward the North. When you find the Big Dipper follow a direct line from the two stars marking the outer rim of the pan moving away from the top of the pan. See Sky Map for an orientation that will be similar tonight.

Over 26,000 years different stars mark North. For example, 13,000 years ago and 13,000 years from now Vega, in the constellation of Lyra, was and will be the North Star. The Fixed Star site tells us this about Polaris:

The name Polaris comes to us from the Latin, Stella Polaris, meaning "Pole Star"…. To our eyes Polaris appears to be motionless at the center of the field of circumpolar stars, a "still point in the turning world". All the other stars appear to circle around Polaris. But as early as 320 BCE the Greeks realized that Polaris did not mark the pole exactly. Until then many people had believed that the heavenly Pole was absolutely and eternally fixed. Polaris has long been moving nearer the North Celestial Pole as it is still doing now. It will be closest to that position around 2100 AD. Because the earth wobbles on its axis like a slowly spinning top, the Pole Star once was Thuban, the third star from the end of the tail of Draco. And in a little more that 5000 years from now, Alderamin, the brightest star in the constellation Cepheus, the King, will be the Pole Star. http://www.winshop.com.au/annew/alphabet1.htm

June 17, Tuesday. The Moon occults the golden stargate of Antares for the 6th time this year visible in Polynesia and Southern South America. According to Bernadette Brady’s book on The Fixed Stars, all four of the royal stars (including Regulus, Aldebaran, and Fomalhaut) are linked with their own unique teachings, special powers and successes when we are able to meet their challenges as part of the heroic journey of life. Antares is also associated with archangel Uriel guardian of the mysteries of peace and inspiration. In Hebrew Uriel means “Flame of God” or “Fire of God” and personifies the divine flame that originates from universal mind. This is the fire of creation as spirit descends into density and form. The Moon is a transmitter so this is a great time to connect with this stargate portal and be open to whatever information, inspiration and insights are available.

Venus (29 Gemini) reaches exact opposition to retrograde Pluto (29 Sagittarius) in this Full Moon window. The Full Moon is exact tomorrow. When we consider Venus is in her underworld Journey until July 15 and she is also reaching opposition to Pluto (an Underworld initiator) during the Full Moon and during this half way point between the Venus passages over the Sun, we get a sense of how powerfully the Divine Feminine is transforming now as she relentlessly excavates whatever her deepest shadow or fear aspects are including all that has unconsciously driven the feminine principle for the last few thousand years. Pluto’s job as an underworld initiator is to facilitate empowerment through requiring us to face our fears and die to what is not in alignment with who we really are. This process is greatly assisted through courageous surrender and letting go of any need to control outcomes. (See Intro and June 2, 8 and 18)

June 18, Wednesday. The Sagittarius Full Moon occurring at 10:30 am Pacific Time (28 Degrees) is nearly exactly conjunct retrograde Pluto (29 Sagittarius). Plus, Venus crosses the center point of the Galactic Edge as it enters zero Cancer at 1:49 am Pacific Time. This means this Full Moon is especially important in the initiatory process of retrograde Pluto’s last opposition with the Sun from the Sagittarius realm. Pluto is completing its final transit through Sagittarius this year and won’t return for nearly 232 years. Pluto is also making one last alignment with Galactic Center and won’t return to this area of the sky for about 248 years. This Full Moon with Pluto then is illuminating our awareness around what is dying and being reborn both on a planetary and galactic level.

For those with planets or angles between 28 and 29 degrees of In Service to Spirit Signs, a.k.a Mutable signs (Gemini, Virgo, Sag, and Pisces) and zero to 2 degrees of Householder signs, a.k.a. Cardinal signs (Capricorn, Cancer, Aries, Libra) this Full Moon window marks an especially important personal acceleration of your Pluto initiation requiring further surrender and willingness to die to who you believe yourself to be.

Resistance to the Pluto process of death and rebirth wears us out. When we are willing to turn toward what we fear and integrate it in our life we are no longer driven by it. When we have faced our fear it loses its power to direct where we are going because the choices we make are no longer driven by fear. We shift our experience from being at the effect of whatever fear is driving us to incorporating it in such a way that it becomes our strength, our gift, the medicine we carry. Willingness to engage your shadow, be it fears, or ideas, or be-lie-fs, and or things you are hanging onto that are ready to leave your life, supports this transformative process.

June 19, Thursday. In this window of the Summer Solstice we also have Mercury stationing direct (13 Gemini) within 3 degrees of the magical star Aldebaran marking what the ancients referred to as the Silver Gate (or stargate) entrance point into this reality. Aldebaran is also one of the magical Behenian Stars so Mercury’s station here is accessing the potent magic of this stargate for about three weeks beginning June 8 to June 29 while it is within 6 degrees of Aldebaran. The effect of this Mercury Retrograde will continue to integrate until July 4 when it passes the degree of its retrograde station near 22 Gemini.

The Mercury station is a time when unexpected magic can occur as the transformational messenger bridges this word with non-ordinary worlds. The Mercury station is an infinity point we can access with great potential for receiving sacred knowledge through new messages, new information, new possibilities, and new creative explorations.

Summer Solstice Sunrise at Stonehenge http://www.sacred-destinations.com/June 20, Friday. At 12:40 pm Pacific time today the Sun will oppose retrograde Pluto marking the central point of Pluto’s retrograde cycle and a deep initiation into the mysteries of this Solar Gate as the Solstice occurs less than 5 hours later. Then the exact Summer Solstice Solar Gateway occurs when the Sun enters zero Cancer at 4:59 pm Pacific time. The Summer Solstice is currently located in an area of the sky we can call the Galactic Cross at the exact intersection of the Milky Way (or plane of our Galaxy) and the Ecliptic (the plane of our Solar System).

The Galactic Cross is located in the area of the sky marking the center of the Sacred Hoop forming a cross inside this great stellar circle in an “As Above” depiction of the “So Below” Native American symbol of the circle and the cross representing the Sacred Hoop. This is also the area of the sky where we look out into deep space also known as the Galactic Edge. This intersection point is located between the horns of the Bull and the feet of the Twins. (See Difference between Signs and Constellations) The Summer Solstice can only be located in this area of the sky every 26,000 years letting us know that we are in extraordinary times shifting from one Great Galactic Year to the next.

The Solstice and Equinox points represent the four gates or four directions of the celestial medicine wheel and are activated by the Sun in a rhythmic seasonal cycle. Solstice literally means “stand still of the Sun” meaning the Sun rises and sets at the same place on the horizon for three days appearing to stand still. Many of our ancestors had an active and conscious relationship with these cycles and seasons, creating standing stone circles and other monuments to assist in tracking these timings for the purpose of capturing or maximizing the incoming energies activated during these seasonal shifts. Working with these seasonal gates strengthens our own relationship with the magical mysteries of the seasonal cycles between the Earth and the Sky and assists us in opening to receive the incoming energies. (See Ceremonial Drumming info in the Introduction to the June Timings.)

June 21, Saturday. The Moon moves into Aquarius early this morning and Mars (24 Leo) opposes retrograde Neptune (24 Aquarius) actively bringing our awareness to the field of all possibilities where we create our reality through our imagination. What we think, say, and do is continually creating our reality. Neptune is a visionary energy that has the ability to dream new possibilities into reality while Mars is ready to act upon those dreams and commit to manifesting them.

June 22, Sunday. The Aquarius Moon conjuncts North Node and Chiron today moving onto occult Neptune tomorrow further energizing this rare triple conjunction that further activates events of “extreme novelty” as described in the April 2008 Celestial Timings, designed to shift the collective assemblage point and expand our perception and experience of this reality. The Shamanic Healer (Chiron) is encountering humanity’s destiny symbolized by the North Node and the Moon’s passage by here amplifies and transmits the new energy codes coming to us from the Akashic Field (or the unified field, the vacuum state, the field of all possibilities etc.) from where all creation arises. Chiron assists us in transforming the past wounds so we are no longer at the effect of them as we consciously co-create a new reality in alignment with our divine design represented by the North Node.

June 23, Monday. The Moon occults retrograde Neptune (24 Aquarius) and then slips into Pisces revealing what is hidden deep within us when we are listening to our inner voice and reminding us of the co-creative power of our imaginations to “dream the dream onward.” (See June Intro)

June 24, Tuesday. The Sun (4 Cancer) sextiles Saturn (4 Virgo) indicating Saturn has reached its full speed ahead direct motion. This means that everyone who has planets or angles between zero and 12 degrees in any of the In Service to Spirit signs (a.k.a Mutable signs Virgo, Pisces, Sagittarius, Gemini) you have reached a full speed ahead time after perhaps feeling like you have been in a standstill for the past few months. Saturn remains in Direct motion until December 31 when it stations retrograde at 22 Virgo.

June 25, Wednesday. The Moon moves into Aries and opens the Last Quarter Moon window exact tomorrow energizing a time for taking inspired decisive action especially when it is geared toward living your passion and commitment to your soul’s purpose. If you don’t know what your passion or purpose is then this is a time to commit to taking actions that will help you find your purpose. It helps to remember that the greatest purpose any soul can have is to live from love and joy, therefore finding activities or ways of being that facilitate joyful feelings is the greatest gift you can give the universe.

June 26, Thursday. The Aries Last Quarter Moon (5 Aries) is occurring at 5:10 am Pacific Time adding a speeded up factor to this Uranus retrograde at 5:01 pm Pacific Time. Uranus stations Retrograde (22Pisces39) remaining retrograde until Nov 27 (18Pisces44). The retrograde station lends itself to another shift in our perceptual experience often unexpected and sometimes even dramatic depending on what is needed to facilitate change. It is helpful to go within for greater awareness of the changes occurring internally. External events tend to reflect the internal changes and are often unexpected. It helps to remember that these sometimes dramatic events and insights are intended as gifts of change and evolution.

June 27, Friday. The late degree Aries Moon reaches a grand trine with Mars (28 Leo) and Pluto (29 Sagittarius) energizing the imagery of the Phoenix rising renewed from the alchemical transformational fire. The Phoenix is also known as the Fire Bird or Sun Bird dives into the fire and emerges born anew out of the ashes. This is also like the Sun who dies at the end of each day to be reborn at dawn. Fire transforms dough into bread, cold into warmth, and dark into light. This is a good time to ask, “What is being transformed today?”

June 28, Saturday. The Moon moved into Taurus late last night or early this morning depending on your time zone, energizing the mysteries of savoring and appreciating beauty as a path to God.

Where shall you seek beauty,
and how shall you find her
unless she herself
be your way and your guide?
And how shall you speak of her
except she be the weaver of your speech?
Kalil Gibran

June 29, Sunday. The waning crescent Moon can be seen approaching the Pleiades (a star cluster marking the shoulder of the Bull) for the second time this month in the early morning hours before Sunrise. (See June Intro and June 2). The exact conjunction is happening near Moon rise tomorrow night around 2:30 and 3 am Local Time depending on your horizon line. Once each month the Moon passes by the Pleiades, and occasionally will pass by twice in a month. The Moon acts as a transmitter for the Pleiadian Mysteries. It is interesting to note that Astronomers are finding that the Pleiadian star system appears to be forming terrestrial planets much like our Earth or Mars or Venus.

The Pleiades have also been referred to as the “seven sisters” though currently we can easily see only six of the most prominent stars there are actually about 14,000 stars in this system. Moon near the PleiadesThe Pleiades are about 400 light-years from Earth making them one of the closer star clusters to Earth. There is evidence that a catastrophic collision occurred around one of the stars of Pleiades as astronomers have found an unusual number of “hot dust particles” - hundreds of thousands of times as much dust as around our sun. Analyzing the debris has led astronomers to conclude that countless microscopic dust particles are debris from the violent collision of planets or planetary embryos.”

These dust particles are the "building blocks of planets," and are known to accumulate into comets and small asteroid-size bodies. From there they may clump together to form planetary embryos, eventually becoming full-fledged planets. It is believed that our Moon was formed through a similar collision of two planetary embryos. http://newsroom.ucla.edu/portal/ucla/rocky-planets-are-forming-in-the-40289.aspx

Tuning into this star system it helps to remember how the Pleiades have been important to ancient cultures. The Lakota Sioux saw these stars as one of the markers for the Celestial Sacred Hoop. The other stars of the Hoop are Capella, Castor and Pollux, Procyon, Sirius, and Rigel. The Vikings saw the Pleiades as the hens of the Goddess Freya. Other cultures including the Celts linked these stars and their eastern rising after Sunset with the season between the Autumnal Equinox and the Winter Solstice. This was the time when the Veils between the worlds was thinnest and it was a time for honoring the dead. The Maya built their temples to track when the Sun would be with the Pleiades during the days of no shadows as described last month. (See May 19, 2008 in the Archives)

Pleiades Star Map

June 30, Monday. The waning crescent Moon moves into Gemini rising just after the Pleiades and about three hours before the Sun. transmitting the mysteries of the troubadour minstrel or court jester who reminds us to have fun, be in the moment, and remember not to take life to seriously. The trickster coyote energy of Gemini might be inclined to say; “Fun is the path to God.” If what you are doing is not fun then why are you doing it, especially if what you are doing is not related to your survival? (See June 3)

Mars (29 Leo conjunct Regulus) makes and exact trine to Pluto (29 Sagittarius) today as we continue to ride on transformative energy of the Grand Fire Trine that was exact on June 27. This is an important access point related to the Regulus mysteries marking the heart of the lion. If you get a chance to look west after Sunset tonight and tomorrow night this is the best time to see Regulus and Mars near their closest alignment.
