THE GRANDMOTHERS' MANIFESTO Grandmothers and Ambassadors in Dharamsala
We are the Grandmothers, the Keepers of the Creator's Highest Law, which is the Law of Good Relationship. We are the elder women of all cultures. Some of us have borne children, some have served the world in other ways. Having already brought forth and nurtured the younger ones and the dreams of our youth, we now hold our blood and, in so doing, carry the Wisdom of the Ages within our wombs.

WE, THE INTERNATIONAL COUNCIL OF THIRTEEN INDIGENOUS GRANDMOTHERS, represent a global alliance of prayer, education and healing for our Mother Earth, all Her inhabitants, all the children, and for the next seven generations to come. We are deeply concerned with the unprecedented destruction of our Mother Earth and the destruction of indigenous ways of life. We believe the teachings of our ancestors will light our way through an uncertain future. We look to further our vision through the realization of projects that protect our diverse cultures: lands, medicines, language and ceremonial ways of prayer and through projects that educate and nurture our children. (See July 2, 3, 6, 8, 15, 18, 19, 21, 26, and 29 for more of this Manifesto) http://www.awakenedwoman.com/grandmothers_manifesto.htm

Inspired by the Cancer New Moon and the Capricorn Full Moon along with many other intriguing Celestial Events, this month the Celestial Timings are dedicated to honoring and acknowledging the gifts of wisdom, insight, inspiration and hope coming to us from the Council of Grandmothers. Also in this month’s Celestial Timings I have shared further information about the Iroquois Confederacy, their role in helping to inspire our United States Constitution and how the most important feature, the Circle of Grandmothers was left out. I also share the rest of the Grandmother’s Manifesto as declared by the Council of 13 Indigenous Grandmothers in October of 2004. This highly inspired Council has been traveling the world raising awareness with their wisdom and love and a documentary is almost ready for release. For more information see the links below.

Notes about connecting with the Celestial Timings.

The most important way to connect with these Celestial Timings is through Intuitive Feeling. It is not essential or even that important to understand the technical aspects of these events. It is more important to tune in for your own sense and connection with what is taking place in the Great Above. It is likely you will notice very specific correlations in your own So Below personal experience. Often these events feel validating and help you to know you are on track and in synch with the unfolding mysteries.

In our current culture we are programmed to operate from a more linear, left brain, logical and rational perspective. Letting go of that program and allowing yourself to be in the place of beginner’s mind or a place of innocence and awareness of these Celestial Events is a more authentic and genuine way to approach these mysteries. This is not about creating specific predictions or having to be or act in any particular way. Rather when we open our minds and our awareness to the greater cosmos we open to the greater possibilities that are there for us to choose from.

Interestingly, I get a lot of feedback from Celestial Timings subscribers who have been reading the Celestial Timings for many years. A large number of them are not astrologer’s and do not have technical astrology experience. The feedback often describes experiences that go beyond the logical and rational understanding of the astrological mysteries. And, many have also said they have learned a great deal about how it all works because I do include the technical information as it helps to name and call forth the energies as well as helps those who know how to apply this information to their own charts.

Again, more important than understanding the details and specifics of so many amazing events in a mental way is to take time to listen and get your own guidance and sense of what these Times are about for you. There are many ways to access and express these mysteries that are all equally valid, so it is up to each of us to find the ways that works best for us. What I am sharing with the Celestial Timings, or what others are sharing through their channeling and personal insights, can be a useful, helpful place to inspire your our own awareness and personal relationship with the incoming energies.

It is helpful to remember the mind can’t know it all and it is easy to get distracted by too much information. That is why I feel guided to continue to write a shorter daily offering that is intended to provide a portal or access point into the rhythmic unfolding of events designed to inspire personal connection with the unfolding mysteries.

Additionally, there are so many profound Celestial Events taking place these days it is challenging for any one person to give them all proper voice. All of us are being called to be a part of this great unfolding by what we say and do. Everyone is needed at this time to act and speak in the ways that help to create the new reality. As we heal our wounds and make healthier choices we not only find greater joy but we also add that greater joy to the collective vibration.

The events taking place in the Great Above help to inform us about what is taking place in the Great Below and the events in the Great Below helps us to understand how the events in the Great Above are manifesting. When we remember we inform the mysteries as much as they inform us then we also remember it is helpful to know what these events are so we can more consciously participate in informing the unfolding mysteries through our intention and attention.

Definitions
Apogee is when the Moon is furthest away from Earth in its Lunar Cycle
Perigee is when the Moon is closest to the Earth in its Lunar Cycle
Syzygy generally refers New and Full Moon times when the Sun, Earth, and Moon are aligned. Although a syzygy also is applied to the alignment of three planetary bodies. A syzygy occurs whenever an observer on one of the three objects (in our case the Earth) sees two other objects either in opposition (when they are 180 degrees apart) or in conjunction (when they are together). The most dramatic expression of a syzgy occurs when we have a Solar and Lunar eclipse.
Occultations are a type of eclipse that occur during syzygy when from the Earth we see the Moon passing in front of a planet. A Moon occultation of a star by the Moon does not qualify as syzygy, since the star is far beyond the limits of the solar system.
Star Magnitudes describes how bright a star looks from Earth. Magnitude (or visibility) lessens as the number increases. For example, a first magnitude star is one hundred times brighter than a sixth magnitude star and a sixth magnitude star is barely visible to the naked eye. Venus can reach as high as -4.6 magnitude the very brightest planet or star in our night sky. The Full Moon is -12 magnitude and the Sun is a -27 magnitude. Sirius is the brightest fixed star in our sky and is visually rated as a -1.42 magnitude.

Minor meteor showers and early Persied activity are fun to observe throughout July. July 27 is the Pisces Austinids (meteors originate near Fomalhaut the mouth of the Southern Fish) and Delta Aquarids (same are of the sky just higher up) peak. Link to picture

Night Sky Highlights
In the east after dark, look for the summer triangle featuring the fixed stars Vega, Deneb and Altair. These three stars are all found in separate constellations but because they are so much brighter than any of the other stars around them they form a prominent triangle visible in the summer night sky. The most prominent of the constellations associated with the summer triangle is Cygnus, the Swan, whose main stars from a large cross or sword with Deneb at its top. This constellation is popularly known as the Northern Cross but is more commonly know as the Swan with Deneb marking the tail. Altair is the eye of the Eagle known as Aquila and Vega is in the constellation of Lyra. 13,000 years ago Vega was the North Star. Currently our North Star is Polaris. See the June 2008 Archives for more about Polaris and check out this URL for information about the August 1 Total Solar Eclipse http://www.skyandtelescope.com/observing/objects/eclipses/12886312.html

Mar and Regulus. Sky & Telescope diagram

Mar Regulus on July 1

Daily Celestial Timings
July 1, Tuesday. July begins with the nearly New Moon at perigee and closely conjunct Mercury (18 Gemini) in the Crazy Wisdom archetype of Gemini (See July 27?) and Mars is visible 0.7 degree N of the Behenian fixed star Regulus as it moves into Virgo today. Saturn is nearby at 4 Virgo and both Mars and Saturn meet on July 10 and remain within 6 degrees of Regulus until July 12. Mars was last with Regulus two years ago in July 2006 so we can think back to that time to get a sense of how those energies were manifesting then. However a major difference to note is that Saturn was not in this area of the sky then. Mars remains within 6 degrees of Regulus until July 12 and Saturn is within 6 degrees until July 24.

The star name Regulus implies it has an ability to regulate heart-centered changes. According to Ebertin-Hoffman in their book The Fixed Stars and Their Interpretations; "…when Mars or Saturn are in conjunction with Regulus, especially exciting events are always recorded e.g. assassinations, coup detat, revolutions, revolts, demonstrations, overthrow of heads of state and similar events."

The benefits of spontaneous decisive action are found in the Mars domain. Regulus operates best through heart-centered action. Through our intention and attention we can focus Mars and Regulus to act together from the wisdom and strength of the heart so that the coup detat or revolution that is occurring is creating a divinely inspired result especially for the new and existing world leaders who wisely represent the changes needed at this time. (See July 5)

July 2, Wednesday. This “out of bounds” Cancer New Moon (11Cancer 32) is still very near perigee for the third month in a row though not as close as it was in June and it is zodiacally conjunct the Behenian fixed star Sirius (14 Cancer See July 4 for more about Sirius). With the New Moon so close to Sirius at its perigee these factors are super charging and magnifying the power of this magical transformative star energy in this month’s New Moon. Also today in some time zones this marks the exact opposition of Venus (18 Cancer) to Jupiter (18 Capricorn). All these energies are designed to help seed a new understanding and relationship with the literal and metaphoric Circle of Grandmothers.

Many Native American cultures viewed the Moon as Grandmother. The New Moon in Cancer emphasizes the mysteries of the Divine Mother and/or Grandmother. With the move of both Jupiter and Pluto into Capricorn recently the importance of the Circle of Grandmothers has been further activated in our awareness. This New Moon includes noticing and tuning into the nurturing wisdom of the Grandmothers.

As mentioned in the April Celestial Timings the United States constitution was greatly influenced by the Iroquois Constitution. The founders of the United States were also told that it was vital they include the Circle of Grandmothers as the guiding light and the final authority on all decisions including going to war or there would be significant problems. Essentially they were told if they left out the Circle of Grandmothers it would lead to disaster. And it has. So at this New Moon time as we approach yet another birthday for the United States on July 4 we can individually invite the wisdom of the Grandmothers into our hearts to guide us during these transformational times.

In this article IROQUOIS CONSTITUTION: A FORERUNNER TO COLONISTS' DEMOCRATIC PRINCIPLES published in the New York Times On June 28, 1987 we learn that: The United States Constitution was influenced and inspired by “the unwritten democratic constitution under which the Iroquois Confederacy had operated since the 16th century”. The Iroquois Constitution lived under three main principles, peace, equity (justice) and the power of the good minds” or the wisdom of the elders.

Records kept by the colonists site an “Onondaga named Canassatego as the one who suggested that the colonists form a nation similar to the Iroquois Confederacy during a meeting of the Provincial Council of Pennsylvania in Lancaster on June 25, 1744.”
According to the director of the Historical Society of Pennsylvania, Peter J. Parker, the council minutes show that Canassatego urged the colonists to ''receive these your brethren with open arms; unite yourselves to them in the covenant chain and be you with them as one body and one soul.'' http://query.nytimes.com/gst/fullpage.html?res=9B0DE5DD1F31F93BA15755C0A961948260
In 2004 the U.S. Government acknowledged the influence of the Iroquois Constitution on the U.S. Framers. The Smithsonian also noted the similarities between the two documents, as well as the differences. One significant difference noted was the inclusion of women in the Iroquois Constitution, one group among many that the framers of the U.S. Constitution did not include.

July 3, Thursday. Today marks the Venus (18 Cancer) opposition to Jupiter (18 Capricorn) in most time zones still well within this New Moon window further energizing the importance of connecting with the Grandmothers and their insights, knowledge and wisdom.

Many traditions around the World have prophecies thousands of years old saying that it is the Grandmothers who will light our way in these times of transformation. A group of 13 indigenous grandmothers from around the world gathered in Phoenicia, New York in October 2004 just four months after the first Venus Transit (noted for acceleration in global workings) and formed a council now known as the Council of Thirteen Indigenous Grandmothers. These Grandmothers have come together to speak as a united voice in guiding the world through these transformative times speaking to the vital importance of “the transforming power of prayer, the healing power of sacred medicines, the creative power of women and the ultimate power of Unity.”

Agnes Baker Pilgrim, the oldest living female member of the Takelma Band of the Rogue River Indians in Oregon, says in World Pulse that prayer is our duty and that “we need not for one moment limit ourselves about what we can do. We must give support and encouragement to each other and to whomever we meet on our path. Love people unconditionally and add their voices and prayers to ours. The creator will hear our cries and turn the dark side around.”

The grandmothers believe that only culture derived from nature’s laws will survive. Without a deep connection to nature, our consciousness and our politics will inevitably be flawed. But when we are connected to the natural world, we cannot help but see the beauty within ourselves and everywhere else.

With the deluge of negative information in the world today, it is heartening to consider the possibility that opening ourselves to beauty, hope, and connection may be the most healing action we can take. (See Intro and July 2, 6, 8, 15, 18, 19, 21, 26, and 29 for more about the Circles of Grandmothers)

July 4, Friday. Happy Independence Day for the USA. This historic day anchored a conscious intention of Independence for all people everywhere. It is interesting to note that America is an anagram for: “I Am Race.” This suggests one of the original divine intentions for the land of the Americas is to support the freedom and independence of the pure expression of the “I Am” quality within every individual. It seems the Unites States government has strayed from this original intent. However, the question is, are we individually living freedom and independence expressing the divine “I Am” that we are and supporting others in doing the same? It is up to us “we the people” to choose to live by these noble principles and as we do that it will be reflected in our governments and our collective global experience.

Each year around July 4 the Sun zodiacally aligns with the fixed star Sirius, the brightest fixed star in our sky. Although Sirius is invisible now due to its proximity to the Sun the Sun acts as a doorway to the Sirian mysteries. Sirius was described as “the Great Star of Initiation” by M. Temple Richmond in his book Sirius. Richmond suggests entering “humbly and reverentially into meditative contemplation of Sirius, the custodian of occult mystery, for in contemplating this great star-being, we encounter a sacred source of transcendence.”

The Sun with Sirius was a part of the guiding force that founded the United States of America and the ideals of a nation that support living freedom for all. Again it appears the United States government is falling short of this foundational vision and yet there are many U.S. Citizens committed to responsibly living and expressing these ideals and principles of freedom for all, keeping the vision alive. As the Sun and Sirius move toward their exact alignment on July 6, this is a time for remembering and renewing our commitment to living freedom in ways that celebrate and support all existence.

July 5, Saturday. Tonight you can see the long line of Saturn (5 Virgo), Mars (3 Virgo), Regulus (29 Leo), and waxing crescent in Leo Moon after Sunset plus messenger Mercury (22 Gemini) is square retrograde Uranus (22 Pisces) finally moving passed the degree of its retrograde station on May 26 adding additional cosmically inspired revolutionary messages to the incoming transmissions today.

This lineup of the Saturn, Moon, and Mars, with the Behenian star Regulus is creating more possibilities for powerful shifts in our personal and collective DNA. For those who have planets in late degrees of Leo or the first few degrees of Virgo you are on the leading edge for receiving direct transmissions from this cosmic alignment. This is an excellent time for tuning into these incoming stellar codes that are activating new portals of awareness and new edges of experience designed to alchemically and cellularly expand our hearts and our awareness of our true divine self.

Moon Mars Saturn near Regulus

July 6, Sunday. The cosmic trio of Mars (3 Virgo), Regulus (29 Leo), Saturn (5 Virgo) are still lined up and the waxing crescent Moon has moved beyond them all by Sunset tonight. This line in Virgo is a reminder of the importance of actively honoring the Sacred Earth. This is also illustrated in the first point of The Grandmothers’ Manifesto.

1) LIFE IS SACRED. As all the great teachers who have come before us understood, there is an intelligence that arises from the heart that surpasses the intellect alone. It is the reverence for the Divine within all aspects of creation that renders our thoughts and actions to be harmless and life serving. Let the sanctity of life be the central theme and motivation of every teacher and leader of both secular and religious domains, that humanity's days may finally be filled with the peace, good will and freedom that we were created to enjoy. (See Intro)

July 7, Monday. Mars (4 Virgo) is closing in on Saturn (5 Virgo) with their exact conjunction on July 10
. It can be highly instructive to watch these two planets over the next month as Mars catches and passes Saturn moving beyond Saturn by July 11 and moving 5 degrees beyond Saturn by July 20 and seven degrees beyond Saturn by the end of July.

The sacred masculine expression, as represented by Mars, is meeting in council with the elder and wise administrator represented by Saturn, in the archetypal realm of the High Priest represented by Virgo, in the constellation of the Lion within six degrees of the Behenian star Regulus, suggesting an infusion of courage and heart is possible now in gaining a greater sense of the sacred in each and every moment of every day. When we feel each moment is sacred our choices are structured from that experience and our choices and actions are what create the reality we experience.

July 8, Tuesday. The Moon moves into Libra energizing the mysteries of our inter-relatedness to all life. Point three in The Grandmother’s Manifesto speaks to the importance of remembering our relatedness and the responsibility we have to honor our relationship with all life.

3) WE ARE ALL RELATED. All human beings of every race, creed, gender, or level of development, are our brothers and sisters. All the world's children are our own, to be treated with wisdom, kindness, love and respect.

Each adult is responsible for the welfare of the children. We, the Grandmothers, understand that once people are capable of viewing each other as family, human dynamics will expand into entirely new dimensions. Let all governments and social institutions serve this expansion.

July 9, Wednesday. The Libra First Quarter Moon (18 Libra) is occurring at the same time retrograde Jupiter (18 Capricorn) has reached its opposition to the Sun (18 Cancer) creating a dynamic set of aspects traditionally referred to as a T-Square. T-squares are dynamic aspects designed to facilitate change. The Libra First Quarter Moon represents the balance between light and dark, and is the most visible and rapid growth phase of the Moon, crossing the threshold that accelerates whatever process is already in motion. The Moon continues to increase in light until the Capricorn Full Moon on July 17. In the Libra domain relationships are intended to be a holy experience assisting us in encountering God within ourselves and everyone we engage. Libra learns about themselves through their interactions with others. This is a time for noting how well you are doing with the relationship with yourself as that is being reflected to you through your relationships with others.

July 10, Thursday. The exact Mars Saturn conjunction is easily visible tonight less than one degree from each other setting about two hours after Sunset. Also today messenger Mercury is opposite transformation initiator Pluto just before Mercury crosses into Cancer traveling through the Cancer domain until July 25. Pluto and Mercury encounters are often about shining the light on where we may have victim beliefs or perceptions about ourselves that are holding us back from the strength and power of who we really are. In the book Radical Forgiveness by Colin Tipping he talks about transforming the Victim Archetype through the alchemy of love.

Only in the experience of being victimized can you possibly come to realize what lies behind the illusion of victimhood – the projection of your guilt. If you are able to look beyond the illusion of the perpetrator and recognize these actions as a call for love, and if you respond with love and total acceptance, the victim energy is transformed and the consciousness of all involved is raised. In addition, the energy that holds the pattern of abuse disappears and the behavior stops immediately. That is what transformation is all about.

On the other hand, if we do not recognize the truth in the situation or do not see beyond the illusion, and we try to change the physical circumstances, we lock up the energy that holds the pattern of abuse in place and nothing changes.

Only love has the ability to transform energies like child abuse, corporate greed, murder and all other so-called evils of the world. http://www.radicalforgiveness.com

July 11, Friday. The Moon moved into Scorpio last night emphasizing the mysteries of death and rebirth, resurrection and renewal, and empowerment through facing the fears that disempower us and ultimately run our lives when we are denying them. Asking questions leads us to answers. This is a great question to contemplate now. “In what ways can I give myself further permission to more fully explore my natural intensity and passion? How can I utilize the power of forgiveness (of self and others) to assist this process?

July 12, Saturday. Just about to rise as an evening star (see July 15) Venus is moving into Leo until Aug 5 continuing a nearly year-long investigation into the Leo mysteries. From the perspective of the emerging Evening Star Venus this is what her long underworld journey has been about for the past two and half months. Venus will rise into the evening sky in a few days having been deeply initiated into the mysteries of radiant, healthy, creative, radical self-love. By now she has potentially gained the ability to radiate and vibrate in ways that inspire others. This pure expression of healthy self-love shines on all she encounters in the same way the Sun shines its radiant life giving light. Venus has been deeply integrating these light codes of self love over the past few weeks that she has been traveling with the Sun. In honor of Venus in Leo here is my all time favorite Leo Quote as it captures the quintessential essence of Leo when it is expressing in healthy ways.

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It is not just in some of us; it is in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”

Moon Near Antares

July 13, Sunday. The waxing Moon moves into Sagittarius energizing the mysteries of the quest for expanding Self-experience in part through ever expanding contexts of truth and meaning. The Moon is visible near Antares tonight activating the power of this Behenian star to assist us in the choices we are making. If we are asking for guidance from our hearts, and not from what we think we should or should not be doing, while releasing attachments to outcome then our choices will align with our true heart’s desire and the fulfillment of our destiny. Loving acceptance of what IS smoothes the way.

July 14, Monday. The Sun (22 Cancer) trines retrograde Uranus (22 Pisces 32). On June 26 Uranus stationed Retrograde at 22 degrees and 39 minutes of Pisces. This means Uranus has been nearly stopped in the sky as it has only moved about 7 minutes in the past two and a half weeks. The shift in direction of a planet’s motion from the Earth’s perspective creates a pause or Still Point indicating a point of power where there is no movement but everything is possible and everything exists before it begins to differentiate or move into form. It may be helpful to take time to be still and listen to your inner voice for guidance in how to best self-nurture, while being open to rolling with the flow of the radical changes that are already in motion even if they haven’t been detected yet.

Also today the Moon is making yet another occultation over the fixed star Antares. The Moon is a transmitter so this is a great time to tune into this stargate portal and be open to whatever information, inspiration and insights are available.

July 15, Tuesday. Technically Venus rises as an evening star tonight if you have a low horizon line and clear skies as Venus has moved beyond 10 degrees from the Sun. It may still be a couple of weeks or more before Venus can be spotted above the afterglow of the Sunset. (See July 12)

Also today the “out of bounds” Moon conjuncts Pluto and then moves into Capricorn this evening crossing over Galactic Center illuminating the shadow issues connected to the truth of our current life structure and healthy stewardship of the Earth. The wisdom of the Grandmothers reminds us of the importance of honesty or truth in our quest for understanding and growth in point 2 of their manifesto.

2) THE PURPOSE OF LIFE IS GROWTH. Growth implies the evolution of greater understanding and wisdom. We, the Grandmothers, know that wisdom requires the capacity and the will for honesty and self-reflection. Humility arises when the fearful conditioned personality surrenders to the Higher Power within. Then the tendency to blame others, or to project upon them the "evils" we cannot face in ourselves, melts away. Let our leaders be humble and dedicate themselves to personal growth as the authentic road to lasting world peace.

July 16, Wednesday. The Sun (24 Cancer) exits the Sacred Hoop today making a zodiacal conjunction with Procyon the brightest star in Canis Minor (a.k.a the smaller dog). Procyon means “before the dog” in Greek rising in Northern Latitudes before the “Dog Star” Sirius in the constellation Canis Major. This constellation represents the smaller of Orion's two hunting dogs. Canis Minor appears to stand on the back of Monoceros, the unicorn. Procyon is the the 8th brightest star in our night sky and is located near our brightest fixed star Sirius. Sirius and Procyon are located on either side of the Milky Way a. k. a. the Celestial River of Celestial Highway and both stars help form the Winter Triangle with Betelguese in Orion completing this nearly perfect equilateral triangle of stars.

Dr. Eric Morse tells us in his book The Living Stars that Procyon was known as the navigator of the ship Argo in the story of Jason and the Argonauts in their search for the Golden Fleece and that Procyon can help us navigate toward our Galactic Destiny. In essence this is the quest for true healing knowledge that helps humanity to experience itself soaring beyond the current limitations we now experience. Procyon has the ability to navigate new territory for the purpose of creating alchemical healing surrendering to the process of regeneration and recommitment to fully experiencing wholeness through health and vitality. The Sun’s presence here illuminates these mysteries and also reminds us that in a few weeks this star will again be visible in the morning sky. More about Argo

Fullest Rise of the Moon July 17

July 17, Thursday. The Moon conjuncts Jupiter (16 Capricorn) and the fullest rise of the Capricorn Full Moon is tonight with the Sun setting very close to the time the Moon is rising in the western time zones sometime between 8 and 8:30 pm local time depending on your horizon line. The Capricorn mysteries are linked with the wisdom we can gain from the elders, the Grandmothers, our ancestors and the ancient ones.

The greatest amounts of wisdom, insights and growth are possible when we are look at the heritage given to us by our ancestors and the elders still in our lives. At this Turning of the Ages it is important to shine the light of awareness on all that has come before us so we are not driven by unconscious fears or patterns that we may have inherited from our lineage. James Redfield spoke to this in the Celestine Prophecy when he talked about the control dramas that get passed from generation to generation and how many of us are here now to wake up within these dramas and to transform them.

All cultures and traditions have some form of honoring their ancestors and those who have become before us. Looking at our ancestral heritage (patterns and beliefs) including our family cultural and global ancestry to gain insights into how their influence may be affecting the choices we are making now liberates us to choose more consciously and with greater wisdom based on what we have learned from them as we go forward.

Similarly, Shamanic Astrology values the contribution of our ancestors by looking back to what the ancient peoples knew about our relationship with the cosmos through the clues they left us in their sacred sites, traditions and story. Then we look at how we can apply these mysteries to our current day experience in ways that support us in moving into new and uncharted territory with the intent of balancing the wisdom of the past with the innovation of the future in healthy ways that care for our beloved Earth and all those who live here.

July 18, Friday. The Capricorn Full Moon (26 Capricorn) is exact just after Mid-night Pacific Time. This is an important time to tune in ceremonially perhaps even using the rhythmic power of the drum or a rattle to open our awareness to the incoming galactic vibrational energy and how we can most efficiently, effectively and responsibly administrate these new forms of manifestation for the benefit of the generations to come. Once again this brings us to the wisdom of the Circle of Grandmothers’ who remind of us the importance of our sacred responsibility to wisely steward the Earth as stated in the fourth point of The Grandmothers’ Manifesto/

4) WE ARE THE CARETAKERS OF EARTH. Care taking implies stewardship, not domination. We willingly co-exist with the other species of our planet. They, too, are sacred expressions of the Creator and members of the interdependent Web of Life. We know that technologies have been and will be created that can enhance the lives of all without destroying or depleting the Earth. As holders of this sacred trust we Grandmothers receive all the gifts of Nature with gratitude, and we endorse only the technologies that are Earth-sustaining and life enhancing for all beings. Let all methods of fuel, food and material production, all expansions and developments, honor Nature's preservation and enhancement.

July 19, Saturday. Messenger Mercury (15 Cancer) is opposite retrograde expansive Jupiter (15 Capricorn) reminding us that all our current problems are creative challenges when we are open to viewing them that way and then open to making different choices. The wisdom of the Grandmothers’ concur.

7) PROBLEMS ARE CREATIVE CHALLENGES. We, the Grandmothers, now stand against war and outmoded and destructive reactions to the issues that arise between peoples. We insist upon leaders trained in the skills of diplomacy, multicultural competence, conflict resolution and creative thinking. Those who resort to manipulation, force and unethical means to achieve ego-centric ends must grow or be replaced by those who embody the capacities for true leadership. There is enough brilliance in the minds of the entire human populace to find solutions to all dilemmas. Let it be tapped now.
And so it IS!

July 20, Sunday. The Moon Occults retrograde Neptune (23 Aquarius) and then moves into Pisces. These energies support a far-reaching assemblage point shift dismantling the out-moded assemblage point built around the old paradigm misconception that suffering and sacrifice are necessary for atonement and liberation. Our divine birthright is to enjoy and savor the ecstasy of love and life. This knowing helps us to create a new paradigm based in the genuine experience of freedom and love through compassion and forgiveness.

July 21, Monday. The Pisces Moon is moving to conjunct Uranus tomorrow energizing the mysteries of radical compassion. This is not the type of compassion that comes from a co-dependent need to make everything okay for another person but rather is a radical expression of compassion that allows us to feel how others are feeling giving them to space have their feelings knowing that is often all it takes for the feelings to change. Love and acceptance are keys to radical compassion while also remembering how our actions affect the greater reality. Point number 6 in The Grandmothers’ Manifesto speaks to the importance of compassion.

6) COMPASSION IS A BASIC SKILL. In a world where technologies of mass destruction permeate our societies, the ability to "feel with" another is crucial now to our planetary survival. Compassion frees us from the bondage of fear that keeps us locked within conflict, struggle and warfare. Once the intelligence of the heart is awakened, harming another is unthinkable, for the sense of self surpasses the ego and includes others in its circumference. Let there be education that addresses the development of compassion, for we know that only through acquiring this basic skill can our children enjoy their existence in peace, dignity and grace. July 22, Tuesday. Today is Mary Magdalene’s Feast Day. (See July 22, 2006 and 2007 Archives for more on this Feast Day). The Sun is making its annual move into Leo where it remains until Aug 22/23. For the next 30 days the Sun in Leo illuminates the mysteries of Self-Love through self-confidence, self-approval, and self-acceptance. Consciously connecting with our inner heart flame, the flame of divine love and acceptance, helps us to remember the pure essence and truth of who we are and why we are here. It is a time to again step up as co-creators inspired by new insights and ideas as messenger Mercury (22 Cancer) trines revolutionary Uranus (22 Pisces) whose job it is to liberate and free us from past restrictions and beliefs by shifting our assemblage point and expanding our ability to be in Witness consciousness. Jim Dreaver gives a three-step practice designed to awaken the peace love and creative joy we and have within us in his new book, End Your Story, Begin Your Life.

Step 1: Welcome Your Experience… Normally we avoid, deny, resist, or try to push away unwanted experiences, but if you are facing conflict, upset, or suffering, you must learn to welcome it. After all, it is showing you where you are not yet free.

Step 2: Notice The Story Behind… every reactive emotion, whether it is stress, self-doubt, guilt, anger, envy, jealousy, loneliness, anxiety, depression, or fear there is always a story, belief, or thought. Remind yourself: "I am not my story... I am the pure awareness that is present right now..."

Step 3: Be Present Now… Relax and breathe into the feeling of being present. Observe any residual feelings or emotions, but don't create a new story around them. Notice how "you," as an aware being, the witness, are still very much here. Feel the shift in your energy, the new sense of ease and well-being. Feel how you are more truly present, more centered and grounded. You see everything anew, and can deal with what's in front of you from a place of confidence and strength.

In time, as you get freer, you will inevitably inquire into this "me," this "I" that you take yourself to be. This is the "fourth" step needed to fully awaken. When you see that the "I" is just a story too, the story-teller, your emotional energy harmonizes and living becomes rich in meaning, love, and purpose—plus a whole lot more fun! You can then use the power of thought, your goals and dreams, to create what you are passionate about. http://www.endyourstory.com/Endorsements___Testimonials.html

July 23, Wednesday. The Moon moves into Aries transmitting the mysteries of inspired action that is intuitive, decisive and in the moment. Aries energy acts before it reflects whereas other energies may need time to process or reflect before taking action. Healthy Aries energy is happiest when devoted to a cause or mission they can direct their enthusiasm and boundless energy toward. From this place Aries does not hesitate to act with determination and purpose.

July 24, Thursday. Venus technically rose as an evening star on July 15 though she is often challenging to spot as she emerges from the Solar Glow having been on the other side of the Sun from Earth. However, it has been nearly 10 days and so it might be worth going out after Sunset tonight and looking West to see if our brightest planet is visible yet. Poets of the past were inspired by Venus, a.k.a. Hesperus when in the evening sky.

“To the Planet Venus”
What strong allurement draws, what spirit guides,
Thee, Vesper! Brightening still, as if the nearer
Thou com’st to man’s abode the spot grew dearer
Night after night? - William Wordsworth

The Evening Star by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow (1807-1882)

1 Lo! in the painted oriel [bay window] of the West,
2 Whose panes the sunken sun incarnadines,
3 Like a fair lady at her casement, shines
4 The evening star, the star of love and rest!
5 And then anon she doth herself divest
6 Of all her radiant garments, and reclines
7 Behind the sombre screen of yonder pines,
8 With slumber and soft dreams of love oppressed.
9 O my beloved, my sweet Hesperus!
10 My morning and my evening star of love!
11 My best and gentlest lady! even thus,
12 As that fair planet in the sky above,
13 Dost thou retire unto thy rest at night,
14 And from thy darkened window fades the light.

July 25, Friday. The Last Quarter Taurus Moon (3 Taurus) is a time for further integrating the gifts of deep personal intimacy, inspired beauty and healthy receivership. As the Moon moves through Taurus over the next couple of days it is completing a Grand Earth Trine with Saturn (7 Virgo) and Jupiter (15 Capricorn). Utilizing healthy Earth energy is most effective when the principles of cooperation, collaboration, co-creation and healthy acts of Giving and Receiving are present.

The challenge is to stay balanced with both giving and receiving in healthy ways while letting go of needing to control either side of the process. Unhealthy giving often shows up as the “giving to get” addiction meaning there is an expectation and attachment to a specific kind of return and that almost always leaves a person feeling disappointed. On the other side of this are the “takers” or the ones who seem to have a sense of entitlement and do not express genuine gratitude or appreciation for any of the gifts of life they receive.

Other examples of imbalance occur when a person either consciously or unconsciously feels deep down that they don’t deserve the gifts or ways that others are showing up to support and help them. This can be especially true if what we are giving feels easy and it hardly seems we have done enough to earn what we are being given. However, it is important to remember that the greatest gift any giver can receive is when someone genuinely receives the gift they are giving with heartfelt gratitude and appreciation. This completes the giving and receiving circuit and allows the abundant flow of the universe to move in ways that brings greater abundance to all.

July 26, Saturday. Mercury moves into Leo speeding through this sign in about 15 days moving into Virgo on August 10. Also today Mars (15 Virgo) is trine Jupiter (15 Capricorn) spotlighting the ongoing trine between Saturn with Pluto and Jupiter in Capricorn this year. With messenger Mercury energizing messages around the importance of healthy self-love and the active Mars energy working with expansive Jupiter in the sign most connected to the wisdom of the Circle of Grandmothers we can gain insight from this truly inspired 5th point in the Grandmother’s Manifesto:

5) SELF-LOVE IS THE ROOT OF HEALTH & HAPPINESS. The capacity to truly love oneself is an essential ingredient of personal fulfillment and must become an educational goal. As Grandmothers, we insist upon only the ethics and policies of all social institutions which can inspire the children to love themselves as treasured creations of the Divine - in all their strengths and unique gifts, as well as their areas of weakness and need for growth. We understand that only full cups can overflow to lead rewarding lives and to be of good service to society. Let all local and global programs be dedicated to wisely educating and supporting the teachers and parents of these precious beings. http://www.awakenedwoman.com/grandmothers (See Intro)

July 27, Sunday. The waning Moon moves into Gemini transmitting the mysteries of Crazy Wisdom. Crazy Wisdom is the wisdom that goes beyond rational logic and reason. It is the kind of wisdom that causes us to pause as it unexpectedly touches a knowing that often cannot be logically explained. From the viewpoint of mundane ordinary life it may seem “crazy” and yet somehow when we move past convention it captures an essence we might have missed before. Tibetans have worked with this concept for eons viewing “Crazy Wisdom” as an “intoxicating, unbounded luminous loving energy that exists beyond the confines of duality and the judgments of good or bad.” Crazy Wisdom uses the alchemy of humor, jokes, tricks, spoofs, satire, caricature, and contradiction to playfully transform our attachments to duality and polarity. www.inquiringmind.com/Articles/WisdomCrazy.html

Waning Moon with Aldebaran

July 28, Monday. The waning Gemini Moon is visible near Aldebaran the eye of the Bull in the early morning hours before dawn. Aldebaran is one of the four royal stars or "Guardians of Heaven", a galactic doorway or portal located near the Galactic Edge. The Galactic Edge is the area of the sky where our Galaxy is receiving new information and light codes that extend beyond our known reality. The Moon is a transmitter transmitting the new light codes directly to our DNA from this area of the sky.

July 29, Tuesday. The “Out of Bounds” Moon moves into Cancer and the Sun Squares Mercury. The waning ‘out of bounds’ crescent Moon is crossing the Galactic Edge visible just in the early morning sky. All this year whenever the Moon is in late degrees Gemini and early Cancer we are receiving a downloading of inter-galactic vibrational frequencies coming from beyond our galaxy. This vibrational shift is easier to assimilate when we pay attention to how we are expressing our own personal vibrational signature through what we think, feel, say and do. Maximizing the potency of this timing is greatly facilitated when we are choosing activities that facilitate self-forgiveness, self-care and self-love.

July 30, Wednesday. As the Moon continues to move past the Galactic Edge in the sign of Cancer we have reached the final expression of the Grandmother’s Manifesto as reminder of the power of Love expressing through the Divine Feminine as Mother and Grandmother. The voice of the Grandmothers fulfills the prophecies of Hope and Peace for our Beloved Earth as they have gathered and declared their intent.

AND WITH THIS DECLARATION we, the Grandmothers, now circle the planet with our Love and our Wisdom. We, the elder women, hold a large percentage of the world's wealth and represent tremendous voting power as well as savvy grass-roots leadership skills. We now pledge to support only those leaders, institutions and projects that respect and reflect our Manifesto. For the sake of the children and the generations of them to come,
we oppose all tyranny, greed, hatred, division and violence.
It is said in Hopi prophecy that when the Grandmothers speak,
Peace will return to the Earth. We speak now.
Let our voice be heard as the final word, as it is meant to be. http://www.awakenedwoman.com/grandmothers

July 31, Thursday. The Moon moves into Leo energizing the mysteries of our true divine nature and Venus (23 Leo) is opposite retrograde Neptune (23 Aquarius) energizing experiences of great magic and feelings of great love beautifully captured in this poem called

The Magic Of Love by Helen Steiner Rice.

Love is like magic
And it always will be.
For love still remains
Life's sweet mystery!!

Love works in ways
That are wondrous and strange
And there's nothing in life
That love cannot change!!

Love can transform
The most commonplace
Into beauty and splendor
And sweetness and grace.

Love is unselfish,
Understanding and kind,
For it sees with its heart
And not with its mind!!

Love is the answer
That everyone seeks...
Love is the language,
That every heart speaks.

Love can't be bought,
It is priceless and free,
Love, like pure magic,
Is life's sweet mystery!!

Comet Boattini chart
In early and mid-July, when Comet Boattini is up before dawn in a moonless sky, it will be between the rump of Taurus and the head of Cetus. Your eastern horizon will cross this part of the sky at an angle that depends on your latitude, and a height that depends on the time you look. The best time will probably be about 5 to 15 minutes after the start of morning twilight; use our online almanac to find this time as described at left. Sky & Telescope diagram
