Sign and Degrees Explanation (for those who don't know)
December 2007 Celestial Timings
By Cayelin K Castell
The Whirling Rainbow
The Sunbow or Whirling Rainbow is a natural phenomenon appearing as a full 360-degree rainbow circle in a wide ring around the Sun. While meteorologists have a physical understanding of the circular rainbow around the sun, wisdom keepers of the Americas and Tibet have complementary spiritual understandings about this dramatic omen known as the Whirling Rainbow or the Sunbow.
For some traditional native people, the Sunbow or Whirling Rainbow is considered to be a sign from Creator, marking a time of great change, or transition on the Earth. This full-circle rainbow around the Sun, some elders say, can be understood as a sign to people of the necessity to live a life in respect and harmony with all the creations that make life possible: plants, animals, waters, minerals, fires, winds, and other human beings. Sunbows also symbolize an emerging understanding about a time of great change on the earth. ~Odyssey of the 8th Fire (a true tale of an epic pilgrimage for the Earth across North America by people of all colors and faiths.) A creative non-fiction book in online evolution by Steven McFadden http://www.8thfire.net
It is said that in the time of the White Buffalo (which began August 20, 1994 with the birth of the first white buffalo, Miracle, in Janesville, WI), the Whirling Rainbow would begin to appear more frequently, as the sky sign language reflecting the era of transition that we are now in. The spiritual ideal is a restoration of the Sacred Hoop, wherein there is fundamental respect of all the parts for one another, and recognition that together there is a Mystery far greater than the sum of the parts. But these ideals and this pathway must be chosen out of applied intelligence and free will.…the prophesied era of transition is well underway, and also signifying the possibility of restoring the Sacred Hoop, with a place of respect for all of Creation…For more information about Sundogs and Solar Halos Steve McFadden’s book Legend of the Rainbow Warriors, published through Chiron Communications, has passages telling some of the lore of the solar halo (Whirling Rainbow) in Chapter 9, pages 123-126.

I have seen a full Sunbow or Whirling Rainbow at least three times in the last few years. The most recent sighting was on November 6, 2007 at our last Shamanic Astrology Night Sky Teaching event in Tucson, Arizona. We were outside enacting the cycles of Venus, Mars, Mercury and the Moon when my partner Peter looked up and noticed a magnificent clear Sunbow encircling the entire Sun. As we looked up at the Sunbow 19 ravens flew overhead. Usually we see two or three ravens together so it definitely caught our attention and they flew in a path that had the appearance of going right through the Sunbow.
This was highly auspicious for many reasons, one of them being that we were also preparing for a graduation/certification ceremony for Peter and Kathryn that night. I also had the sense that the mysteries of the Whirling Rainbow were calling and it must be time to share about it once again in the Celestial Timings. Over the past several years I have included information about the Whirling Rainbow as it also carries the prophecy of hope and the promise of peace for all people and all nations.
In 2002, I had the great privilege of visiting the White Buffalo in Flagstaff Arizona and was again energized by the prophecy of the Whirling Rainbow. Every year since then at least one buffalo calf has been born at Spirit Mountain Ranch near Flagstaff and the ranch is now home to nine genuine white buffalo. You can read more about their remarkable story at http://www.sacredwhitebuffalo.org/index.html
Meanwhile, back at the graduation ceremony that night, another confirmation magically occurred when Daniel Giamario gifted Peter with a medicine pouch filled with fur from the first white buffalo named Miracle. Daniel did not know about the connection of the White Buffalo with the Whirling Rainbow or the Sunbow we had seen earlier that day, but I did and so was aware of the significance of the gift.
I am honored to again share about the importance of the Whirling Rainbow as we begin this incredibly powerful last month of 2007. Interestingly, the spirits were not finished giving us magical signs about the importance of what was taking place. Later that night, when we looked at the Graduation pictures they were loaded with Spirit Orbs captured on at least three different cameras. Spirit Orbs had also shown up in the daytime pictures we took of the Shamanic Timeline event Lauren and I taught in North Carolina a couple of weeks before. This was my first experience of taking daytime pictures of Spirit Orbs. Soon after seeing these photographed daytime orbs I got an email detailing several books now being released with new studies about the significance of the Spirit Orbs. I haven’t investigated that yet, though I am expecting that will be happening soon.
Meanwhile, as we begin December and move toward the Solstice with Pluto and Jupiter and the Sun and Mercury and the Lunar Standstill Moon all converging to activate a major reset point at Galactic Center this month I can’t help but feel there is a lot of Grace and Magic and Support for these Times. The Whirling Rainbow and the White Buffalo and the Ravens and the Spirit Orbs and the many other magical beings and events are reminding us this is all happening in Divine Order through the grace of Great Mystery. And we all signed up to be here as witness to these events and assistance to the Earth in her evolution and ascension into the next dimension. And so it IS!

Stars and Constellations Highlights
- Betelgeuse is the bright reddish star the marks the N.E. corner of Orion the hunter. It is an irregular variable star that varies its brightness between that of Capella and Antares. Betelgeuse is a red super giant which is bigger that the orbit of Mars. If it were our sun, we would be warming ourselves inside it.
- Rigel is the bright blue white star on the S.W. corner of Orion. It is about 900 light years away and is 150,000 times as bright as our sun. That is because it is so very hot.
- Orion's Belt is made up of a diagonal of three stars that a close together (3 degrees). The highest star, Mintaka is on the celestial equator. These are sometimes called the "three Marias". Coming down from the middle of the three is a line of stars known as the sword. If you look closely at the lower stars in the sword you will see a faint fuzzy patch. This is the famous Orion Nebula, which is the birthplace of numerous new stars. The Moon is passing this area of the sky around the time of the Winter Solstice.

Daily Highlights
December 1, Saturday. This month begins with Mercury moving into Sagittarius (until December 20) focusing on the ever-expanding spiritual quest for truth, knowledge, self-understanding, self-awakening, and the meaning of life. When healthy, Sagittarius knows that knowledge and truth change as our conscious awareness changes. Mercury’s journey through the Sagittarian domain is intended to deepen our knowing and sense of purpose. It is important to note that Mercury is not visible as it is traveling with the Sun until January 3.
With Mercury’s move into Sagittarius today, we now have four planets moving through this sign including the Sun, Pluto and Jupiter. On December 8, 9 and 10, the Lunar Standstill Moon passes by all four planets including the New Moon on December 9, further activating these mysteries. Jupiter and Pluto join together at Galactic Center on December 11. Then messenger Mercury conjuncts Pluto on December 19, and Jupiter on December 20, and the Sun conjuncts Pluto on December 20, and Jupiter on December 22.
Also today, we have the Virgo Last Quarter Moon (9 Virgo) conjunct Saturn, the return threshold bringing the gifts of sacred service to Spirit that honors the patterning of life while serving the needs of the Earth in balanced ways. Saturn helps to structure these gifts in a practical and useful form. As the Moon wanes more each day, the completion phase or integration process of the current journey continues, and it is time to look at what seeds to plant in the next cycle, beginning with the spectacular Cancer Full Moon on December 23.
December 2, Sunday. The Moon moves into Libra until December 5, transmitting the mysteries of conscious equal partnership in harmony and balance with all life. This is a great time to ask yourself: Am I conscious of my interrelatedness to every aspect of creation? Am I engaging a conscious relationship with myself and others? Am I willingly growing in this conscious awareness of myself and how I exist in relationship to the rest of life? Conscious awareness and conscious choice are essential for experiencing conscious relationship. It is through our willingness to be aware and then from there, choosing actions that support a growing, conscious experience that assists us in having a greater co-creative life experience.
Also worth noting today is Mercury’s alignment with the fixed star known as Dschubba (eye) or Isidis, around 1 degree Sagittarius, located in the head of the constellation of the Scorpion. This star has been referred to as the Eye of the Dragon, also associated with the Goddess Isis. In her book Starwalking, Page Bryant http://www.pagebryant.com says this star’s energy is helping to “propel us into the next millennium.” Mercury is traveling through the constellation of the Scorpion and Ophiucus, the Serpent Holder, who is the master of life force energy and healing, and moving through Galactic Center as we approach the Solstice. These activations are occurring within the light of the Sun and so they are more internal as we can not connect with them visually at this time.
Plus today marks the annual Sun conjunction with the fixed star Antares, and Mercury is also moving into a six-degree orb of Antares tomorrow that lasts until December 12. The Sun is in the magical six-degree window from November 26 to December 9. So once again, the energies of this magical Behenian star are being heightened. Earlier this year Jupiter was hanging out with Antares for several months. (See August Archives and See December 6 and 8).
December 3, Monday. Venus (27 Libra) sextiles Pluto (27 Sagittarius) taking the concept of consciously choosing relationship further and deeper. Conversations With God by Neale Donald Walsh says, “Remember, your job on the Planet is not to see how long you can stay in relationship, it’s to decide, and experience, Who You Really Are.”
This speaks to the importance of being conscious, about choosing to enter into relationship. If we are choosing relationships because we are unconsciously lonely, bored, depressed, or unfulfilled, it is doubtful the relationship will ultimately fulfill those needs. If, however, we are consciously entering relationship and choosing it as -- an opportunity for growth, for full Self expression, for lifting your lives to their highest potential, for healing every false thought or small idea you ever had about you, and for ultimate reunion with God through the communion of your two souls – then we are entering an entirely different domain, based on the foundation of consciously choosing our experience. This rewrites our current cultural relationship programming in ways that are liberating, beneficial, and supportive to all concerned. http://www.cwg.org/index2.html
December 4, Tuesday. Paying attention to the Celestial Events (particularly the conjunction of Pluto and Jupiter in effect this entire month and beyond) will help you to navigate these highly transformative times. Jupiter is a Middle World planet, meaning it is visible from Earth without the aid of a telescope, and its effects are felt most strongly in this world. Pluto (now no longer considered a planet by the astronomical world, but certainly, the astrological world is well aware of how the transformative effects of Pluto (whether it is a planet or not) operates in the Underworld, where we are alchemically transformed at a cellular (DNA) level. The following information is excerpted from a somewhat longer article by Greg Braden that helps us to understand a potent way to be with these transformative energies. I have abbreviated the article but provided a link at the end of this so you can see the entire piece. It is well worth a read.
The Institute of Heart Math did an experiment and wrote a paper titled: Local and Non Local Effects of Coherent Heart Frequencies on Conformational Changes of DNA. (Disregard the title! The info is incredible.)
In this experiment, human placenta DNA (the most pristine form of DNA) was placed in a container from which DNA changes were measured. 28 trained researchers were each given a vial of this DNA. Each researcher was trained in how to FEEL strong feelings.
What was discovered was that the DNA CHANGED ITS SHAPE according to the feelings of the researchers:
1. When the researchers FELT gratitude, love and appreciation, the DNA responded by RELAXING and the strands unwound. The length of the DNA became longer.
2. When the researchers FELT anger, fear, frustration, or stress, the DNA responded by TIGHTENING UP. It became shorter and SWITCHED OFF many of the DNA codes! Now you know why you may feel "shut down" by negative emotions as your body is literally shut down too. The DNA codes were switched back on when feelings of love, joy, gratitude and appreciation were felt by the researchers.
This experiment was later followed up by testing HIV positive patients. They discovered that feelings of love, gratitude and appreciation created 300,000 TIMES the IMMUNE RESISTANCE they had without those feelings. So here's the answer to staying well, no matter what dreadful virus or bacteria may be floating around. Stay in feelings of joy, love, gratitude and appreciation!
These emotional changes went beyond the effects of electro-magnetics. Individuals trained in deep love were able to change the shape of their DNA. Gregg Braden says this illustrates a new recognized form of energy that connects all of creation. This energy appears to be a TIGHTLY WOVEN WEB that connects all matter. Essentially we're able to influence this web of creation through our VIBRATION.
SUMMARY:
What do the results of these experiments have to do with our present situation? This is the science behind how we can choose a timeline to stay safe, no matter what else is happening. As Gregg explains in The Isaiah Effect, basically time is not just linear (past, present and future), but it also has depth. The depth of time consists of all the possible prayers and timelines that could ever be prayed or exist. Essentially, all our prayers have already been answered. We just activate the one we're living through our FEELINGS.
THIS is how we create our reality -- by choosing it with our feelings. Our feelings are activating the timeline via the web of creation, which connects all of the energy and matter of the Universe. http://www.omeonet.info/en/articles/dna_report.htm
December 5, Wednesday. The Moon is 2 degrees from Spica in the Morning sky. Venus and Moon move into Scorpio as Venus moves through the 4th gate into the Underworld, visible in the early morning sky. This is where Venus (or Inanna) surrenders her breastplate, symbolizing how she guards her heart from pain or wounding. In surrendering all of the ways she guards her heart, she sees where she has forgotten to love herself. As Venus passes through this gateway, we are reminded the best way to participate with this Timing is to be willing to surrender all of the ways we no longer love ourselves due to the defenses we have built designed to guard our own hearts from the pain inflicted by others. Willingness to feel the depths of what we feel helps to liberate these feelings from where they are inhabiting our bodies. These repressed feelings are often what lead to experiences of depression because of the feelings we have repressed or denied. Our feelings are messengers, helping to push us past our known edges, and push us to find genuine self-love, when we have liberated the feelings that have kept us from experiencing intensely passionate, alive, ecstatic bliss.
Today we begin to feel the effects of a Grand Water Trine as Venus enters Scorpio traveling through here until December 30. Retrograde Mars has been in Cancer since September and Uranus is in the mid-degrees of Pisces. The Moon is activating this trine today and tomorrow and on December 11, Venus and Mars reach an exact trine. On December 14 and 15, the Moon activates the Pisces side of this trine. Then on December 17 and 18, Venus moves to exactly trine Uranus. December 23 and 24 the Moon is in Cancer activating the Mars side of this Grand Trine during the Cancer Full Moon while it also occults Mars. (See December 23).
This is a remarkable set of aspects that are coinciding with many other remarkable events this month including the rare Jupiter Pluto conjunction at Galactic Center. The water element reminds us that our feelings are great teachers and paying attention to these feelings, giving them safe space to express, and honoring the gifts they have for us helps us to navigate these wildly changing times. It has never been more important to find healthy, safe and supportive ways to feel what we feel, because feeling our feelings leads us to greater joy even if what we feel initially is painful. What we can feel, we can heal, which leads us to a deeper knowing of ourselves.
December 6, Thursday. Mercury (7 Sagittarius) squares Saturn (7 Virgo) helping to inform Saturn of the spiritual truths that assist in creating a new form of sacred work that honors and respects the needs of the Earth and all who dwell here. Mercury is very near the fixed Star Antares, one of the magical stars that is most activated when a planet is within 6 degrees. Mercury travels within 6 degrees of Antares from December 3 – 12, and the Sun is still within 6 degrees until December 9.
For those interested in plant medicine, a plant that has associations with Antares, and is therefore most potent when Antares is being activated by a planet, is Birthwort (a.k.a A. clematitis). This plant was a highly regarded medicinal plant as far back as the time of the ancient Egyptians, Greeks and Romans. It is helpful to know that Birthwort can be fatally toxic to humans if too much is taken.
Birthwort was (as one might suspect) used in childbirth to help expel the placenta. The root of the Birthwort (Snakeroot) was used to treat snakebites though there is some doubt to its degree of success. Some studies show that the root does have the ability to deactivate certain types of snake venom only so not all snakebites will respond.
Birthwort has been shown to increase production and activity of leukocytes (white blood cells), as well as containing a disinfectant that assists in wound healing. These are some of the properties that might be useful to work with when the Moon, the Sun, or Mercury or any other planet is linked with Antares. (See December 8).
December 7, Friday. The Moon moves into Sagittarius near the head of the constellation of the Scorpion passing by the fixed star Isidis (see December 2). Moon in Sagittarius is energizing the mysteries of the spiritual quest intended to expand self-understanding, knowledge, and the meaning of life, while also discovering new ways of experiencing the realm of spirit. If you are up early tomorrow morning, you may see the tiny crescent Moon approaching Mercury and Antares. (See December 6).
The Sun (15 Sagittarius) squares Uranus (15 Pisces) indicating Uranus is picking up speed since its Direct Station last month. These energies illuminate ideas and information challenging the accepted status quo often manifesting through surprises designed to shift our perception of what is real. When we allow for all the possibilities and ways of being, especially the ones that are radically unconventional and cosmically inspired, our relative world expands producing liberating experiences of evolutionary growth. This is often unsettling and even scary if we are attached to our reality as it is. The more we can step back from our expectations and be open to experiencing the rapid evolutionary changes already occurring, the easier the transition will be. This is especially true when we are able to stay in gratitude and joy for the journey. (See December 4).
December 8, Saturday. Retrograde Mars (8 Cancer) sextiles Saturn (8 Virgo) suggesting it is helpful to take plenty of time in planning your strategy as we enter this next phase of the High Holy Days. Saturn and Mars are visible 60 degrees from one another and that has typically been seen as an easy relationship. However, Cancer and Virgo have a different focus for their main concerns. Cancer is concerned with creating a safe, nurturing space and Virgo is concerned with creating holy and sacred space. These two concerns can work together if they take time to communicate and understand the importance each is bringing to the process.
The Moon is exactly conjunct Mercury and Antares (10 Sagittarius) as described on December 2 and 6. We are in the New Moon Window so Antares is not visible as it is so close to the Sun. In the book, The Mysteries of Isis, the author De Traci Regula’s says, “Among the stars named after Isis is Antares, which was associated with Selkit, the scorpion goddess who was sometimes depicted in the Isian headdress. Antares was associated with Isis in the ceremonies conducted in conjunction with the great pyramid complex at Giza, where she bore the special title of ‘Lady of the Pyramids’.”
These great Pyramids are specially designed initiation chambers oriented to access the mysteries of the heavens and ground them on the Earth. The Moon is a transmitter and Mercury is the transformational messenger bringing us messages from the interdimensional gateway of Antares. This triple line-up so close to the Sun magnifies the power of Antares significantly. Michael Smulkis and Fred Rubenfeld authors of Starlight Elixirs and Cosmic Vibrational Healing http://hilarion.com/stars.html say, “Antares influences the place just before choice…If you attune to this in anyway, asking with love in your heart for the higher path to be shown, so it will be. The opportunities for this may come forth in ways that were perhaps unexpected.”
December 9, Sunday. Today is the Sagittarius Lunar Standstill New Moon (17 Sagittarius) outside the boundaries of ordinary reality provides us with an opportunity to further deepen our commitment to the power and magic of living the truth of our being for the purpose of promoting love and joy in ways that are most beneficial for all life. Attending to the hurts, wrongs, mistakes and issues of the past through embracing them, forgiving them and incorporating the gifts they have for us as the medicine we carry has the power of Pluto, Jupiter, the Sun, and Mercury all lining up near Galactic Center this month to initiate new beginnings especially when we are taking authentic action through surrender, forgiveness and release of the past.
The Delphic Oracle in Greece has two inscriptions over the doorway. Both are great instructions for the devoted Sagittarian seeker. The first inscription is “Know Thy Self.” The second is “Nothing in Excess”…this includes excessive [and/or fundamentalist] spiritual practices and beliefs including forcing these beliefs on others as the only true way to experience the divine. This is a time to notice how well we know ourselves and how balanced we are in living our lives in ways that naturally support continued expansion of our self-knowing and the evolution of our understanding of spiritual truth and experiences.
December 10, Monday. Still in the New Moon window, the Lunar Standstill Moon conjuncts Jupiter and Pluto before moving into Capricorn. All of 2007 and into 2008, Pluto and the Moon are meeting here located visually in the sky between the constellation of the Archer, near the tip of the arrow and above the tail, and stinger of the Scorpion (the Archer is a.k.a. Sagittarius – see Article on Difference Between Signs and Constellations). This is located near where the Milky Way and the ecliptic intersect. In the three-day Lunar Standstill window, the Moon is so far south in its orbit from the Earth’s perspective that it literally covers or crosses directly over Galactic Center. The Moon is an activator and transmitter amplifying the energy codes being transmitted from any particular area of the sky. Therefore, the Moon is assisting in the flow of energy and information from the Galactic Gateway. This will continue on into 2008 as the Moon will still be outside the bounds of the Sun’s maximum declination.
There are three days each month when the Moon is transmitting directly from the Galactic Core providing us with easier access to the Codes and Energies beaming in from this area of the sky. Knowing about and consciously engaging this Timing further opens and activates our abilities as conscious conduits in anchoring these energies in the Earth plane. Many are noticing this three-day window is intensifying whatever issues any of us are still hanging onto or still in the process of releasing. Surrendering what we think we know and who we think we are, while also going with the flow of what is occurring, seems to be the most effective and useful strategy for experiencing the magical transformational opportunity of this window. (See Articles Page.)
Also today Mercury (14 Sagittarius) squares Retrograde Uranus (15 Pisces) today suggesting a time for going with the flow of unexpected changes that are designed to take you to new, inspiring, innovative, brilliant, cutting-edge concepts and insights designed to create greater freedom of being.
December 11, Tuesday. Jupiter conjuncts Pluto (28 Sagittarius) in the Galactic Gateway. Jupiter and Pluto represent a combination of great Alchemy. They remain within 10 degrees of each other until early February 2008. The wizardry of Pluto and Jupiter at Galactic Center has not occurred for nearly 3,000 years. When we consider the rare opportunity of this alignment, it brings to mind the story of Aladdin who descends into the lower world to find the magical lamp hidden there. Unbeknownst to Aladdin, this lamp has a genie capable of granting any wish and is a far greater treasure than all the gems and jewels he sees scattered around. Fortunately for Aladdin, he is given an opportunity to accidentally discover the genie (or genius within) and is then blessed with the ability to totally recreate his life.
When Jupiter and Pluto connect, it is a reminder of what is hidden in the depths of our being and what we can access when we have the courage to call it forth into form. The magical alchemy of the genie or genius within, as Aladdin went on to discover, had no limits to its magical power. So the rest of the story is Aladdin also learned through certain challenges the importance of using this magic wisely.
December 12, Wednesday. 12/12 and the Feast Day of Our Lady of Guadalupe. She is the Virgin Saint of Mexico. On December 9, 1531, she first appeared to Juan Diego on Tepeyac Hill and told him that she wanted a church built in her honor on that very hill. The Bishop did not believe Juan Diego’s message. When Juan Diego told Our Lady the bishop did not believe her message, she asked Juan Diego to hold out his tilma. This was December 12, 1531. Right there on that cold winter’s day she filled the tilma with the roses of summer. When Juan Diego showed the Bishop the roses in his tilma, they were astonished to see Our Lady’s image also imprinted on the tilma. The bishop did believe and a beautiful church was built on Tepeyac Hill. It is the most revered place of worship in Mexico. (For more on the magical story of Guadalupe, http://www.rimjournal.com/arizyson/guadalup.htm http://www.geocities.com/franciscanhistory/OLOG.html)
Today the Moon moves into Aquarius transmitting from the domain of the cosmic visionary who sees beyond ordinary reality for the purpose of bringing liberating change. Venus (8 Scorpio) is sextile Saturn (8 Virgo) visible 60 degrees from each other in the morning sky. Venus in Scorpio explores the realms of passionate life force energy and Saturn in Virgo is energizing sacred ways that care for the Earth. This is an alignment for finding simple ways that are joyous, sacred, and life sustaining.
December 13, Thursday. The Sun however is conjunct the fixed star Rasalhague today and Mercury is rapidly approaching this fixed star marking the third eye of the serpent bearer known as Ophiuchus exact on December 16. Rasalhague is known for its desire to heal wounds and is strongly connected to the concept of healing, whether on a personal level or in society as a whole.
Ophiuchus is located between the Archer and the Scorpion just east of the head of Hercules and covers part of the Milky Way. Ophiuchus is also known as the Serpent Bearer and is seen holding a large snake that is the constellation known as Serpens. Ophiuchus is not consider one of the 12 zodiacal constellations, but the reality is, the Sun passes through this constellation for 16 days a year spending only nine days a year in the constellation of the Scorpion. The Fixed Star Site.
It is important to remember that Signs and Constellations are two different things. A constellation is a specific grouping of stars. The signs are based on the seasonal experience of the Solstices and Equinoxes as they mark the seasonal passage of the Sun through the sky. The constellations are the backdrop of stars the signs move through over 26,000 years and this is how we know when we are at the Turning of the Ages. (See The Difference Between Signs and Constellations and A Shamanic Look at the Turning of the Ages)
The Fixed Star Site tells us that Ophiuchus is Aesculapius, the ancient healer, believed to be the ancestor of Hippocrates (born 460 BCE) the great physician of Cos, and Serpens was his symbol of healing. The serpent as depicted in the caduceus is the symbol for the poison (venom) that can both cure and kill, and Ophiuchus uses it to heal. The cult of Aesculapius began in Thessaly; temples were built throughout Greece, especially near healing springs. After fasting and bathing, the sick and disturbed would spend the night in special 'dream incubation chambers' in his temples. The god, appearing to them in vivid dreams, diagnosed disease and offered cures, and the grateful recipients of his wisdom would then throw golden coins into his sacred fountains…
The Sun (21 Sagittarius) is now transmitting these mysteries and Mercury (20 Sagittarius) who is also sextiling Neptune (20 Aquarius) today is bringing us messages for the next several days from this area of the sky. This is a good time to remember be open to healing cures that may come through our nighttime dreams.
December 14, Friday. Moon occults Neptune (20 Aquarius) meaning the Moon is covering and uncovering Neptune powerfully activating these mysteries. This is further energizing the collective field of dreams and our own dreaming where we may receive guidance and inspiration especially when we are asking. When we intentionally tap into the universal dreaming field through meditation, prayer, and ceremony, we are acting as conscious co-creators and we are actively helping to “dream the dream onward.”
December 15, Saturday. The Moon moves into Pisces further activating the Grand Trine (see December 6) and transmitting the mysteries of Radical compassion going beyond the traditional definition of compassion, defined by the dictionary as: a feeling of deep sympathy and sorrow for another who is stricken by misfortune, accompanied by a strong desire to alleviate the suffering. Radical Compassion allows for whatever experience we or others are having without having to rescue or fix the person or the situation. This is a powerful catalytic healing space supporting the divine flow of life allowing this energy to be directed toward what is most needed even if we don’t understand what that is.
December 16, Sunday. Moon conjuncts Uranus (15 Pisces) energizing not only the mysteries of radical compassion as described yesterday but also to radical service that changes our perception of what is needed. This comes from an expression of serving others in ways they really need and not in the ways we think they need. What we think a person needs and what they really need may be entirely different things. When we can step out of our ego desire to be of service in the ways we believe are most helpful then we can step into a place of genuine service opening the space for seeing life in new ways. This is the work of Uranus shifting the assemblage point of our reality and it includes the ways we serve and nurture ourselves as well. This requires deep inner listening to attune to the genuine needs of those we are serving as well as when we are in service to our personal needs.
December 17, Monday. First Quarter Moon (25 Pisces) squares Pluto before moving into Aries. This waxing half full Moon phase represents the balance between light and dark. It is also the most visible rapid growth phase of the Moon indicating a good timing for putting our ideas and plans into action. This Moon phase is also intended to bring our conscious awareness to the threshold of initiation that accelerates the growth process. Each night until the December 24 Full Moon, the Moon is increasing in light appearing closer and closer to the eastern horizon as the Sun sets.
In the Pisces realm, the qualities of empathic compassionate service are the leading edge. Healthy Pisces enjoys a mystical connection with the divine and simply serves all life through loving compassion. Out of balance Pisces energy is unable to know its own feelings and experience because it merges with and then becomes empathically attuned to those around them. Healthy Pisces must first direct their compassionate energy towards themselves. Then when in balance these mystical dreamers can serve the world in a way that is most supportive to all.
The Sun conjuncts Mercury (24 Sagittarius) in the psychopomp phase of the Mercury cycle. This is the phase where Mercury acts as a guide for souls taking them where they need to go. If they are due to experience the Celestial World, Mercury can take them there. If they are due to experience the Underworld, Mercury can take them there as well, because Mercury has access to all the realms and dimensions. This is a time to tune in and be aware of what world the messages are coming from and how you can best work with the incoming insights and information to further your own quest for truth and the meaning of your life.
Venus (15 Scorpio) trines Uranus (15 Pisces) further activating the Grand Water Trine energy this month. (See December 6). Venus is powerfully expressing the divine Feminine principle of magic and manifestation through living her passion. Plus, Venus is also crossing the cross quarter point between the September Equinox and the December Solstice where the fixed star Zuben Algenubi is located. This is one of the Stars of the Scales that currently represents a doorway between the worlds where we can access information about what is unfolding now. Uranus adds an unpredictable element to this Timing designed to create the greatest amount of freedom to manifest exactly what is needed to produce radical change in ways that creates greater love and healing for humanity and the planet.
December 18, Tuesday. The North Node Moves into Aquarius today where it remains until August 22, 2009, when it will move into Capricorn. The Nodal axis mark the points in space where the Moon crosses north and south of the Ecliptic and these points are what determine eclipses. It takes about 19 years for the Nodes to move back to any designated starting point and they precess, or move backward through the signs, in the opposite direction of how the planets are moving. If you have planets or angles along the Aquarius Leo axis, you will experience a Nodal transit sometime over the next 18 plus months. The Nodal transits represent magical windows and are worth noting.
Today Jupiter is moving into Capricorn until January 6, 2009. The Sun and Jupiter are in close relationship to each other as we approach the December Solstice. Jupiter’s move into Capricorn is occurring while Jupiter is in the Underworld or with the Source, the Sun, the life giving force that supports and sustains this world. This suggests that Jupiter’s move through Capricorn is beginning with an illumination of these mysteries that sources a new way of experiencing Capricorn. The Capricorn mysteries have been driven by the “doing” addiction of the current paradigm. Doing is great when it is aligned with our soul’s purpose and is inspired by what truly connects us to great joy and gratitude. This quote from Abraham as channeled by Esther Hicks inspires a renewal of vision (Jupiter) around how we can more effectively create our reality with less energy wasted in the process of doing.
Leverage your time more by spending a little more time every day imagining and a lot less time every day doing. Do a little more imagining and a little less doing. Until eventually most of what's happening is happening in the cool, calm, anticipatory state. Just imagine yourself into the successes, and watch what happens. Imagine a little more and act a little less. http://www.abraham-hicks.com/teachings.php Excerpted from a workshop in Dallas, TX on Saturday, January 24, 1998.
December 19, Wednesday. In ancient Roman times, today would have marked the beginning of Saturnalia, an annual week long festival that was celebrated by stopping business, executions and military operations and the masters served the slaves. This was a time for overturning the rules and allowing for a fresh perspective. We are in a time of planetary Saturnalia (based on the Galactic Alignment that signals the beginning of a new 26,000 year cycle or a New Great Year as described by Plato) when the old rules or structures are crumbling and new structures that support these rapidly changing times are seeking form.
At the beginning of this Saturnalia, synchronistically Saturn is Stationing Retrograde (8 Virgo) symbolizing the overturning of the old Saturn rules and disintegrating structures that no longer serve the health and well-being of humanity and the planet. It is time to look deep within and to see what patterns or structures are not working and to let them go, overturn them, allow for a different more effective experience.
Mercury conjuncts Pluto (28 Sagittarius) Mercury is the communication master, Pluto is the master of the realms of intense transformation and Jupiter expands the context of these energies. A few days before and after today, intense inner and outer communication is heightened. If you are involved in any process that demands deep focused concentration, deep insightful thought, and the ability to access resources of knowledge and information, these are highly charged supportive energies. It may be helpful to be alert for the transformational messages and clues coming through at this time.
December 20, Thursday. Mercury moves into Capricorn and conjuncts Jupiter. The Sun conjuncts Pluto (28 Sagittarius) illuminating our awareness around personal and collective power. This is a time to face our fears and transform them in ways that empower us to experience the truth of who we really are. The Sun illuminates these shadowed aspects while also providing transformative fuel. It is essential to feel what we feel and then to forgive all the unforgivable deeds done to us or by us. Self-forgiveness and forgiveness of others where needed, transforms these shadowed elements into our greatest gifts bringing to light their wealth as the medicine we carry.
Mercury crosses zero Capricorn today, a.k.a. the Winter Solstice marker, which is a seed point or a choice point, marking the annual completion and renewal of the Sun’s yearly cycle. Zero Capricorn then is a place in-between realities, in-between what was and what is becoming, in-between what is known and what is yet to be known, in-between what is ending and what is beginning. It is a place outside our fixed experience where all possible worlds exist, and when we are conscious with this center point, we can choose the new beginning, the new time-line, the new experience, the new reality, from the center of the Great Mystery.
Tonight the waxing Moon is visible 1 degree N of the Pleiades.
December 21, Friday. Moon moves into Gemini in this Winter Solstice window as the Sun moves into Capricorn at 10:08 pm Pacific Time. Gemini’s favorite activity is to overturn the rules or simply go beyond them. Gemini expresses freely beyond the rules of ordinary reality. This is why the Fool, in the Tarot cards, is jumping blissfully into the void having gone beyond the laws of gravity and third dimensional reality.
Jupiter and Pluto are still within about one degree of each other during this Solstice Window. The magnitude of this combination coming together with the Sun amplifies this Solstice Window suggesting it is another extremely rare major reset point. Jupiter and the Sun won’t be together again at the Solstice for another 83 years, at that time Pluto will be nowhere near this alignment. This is definitely a once in many lifetimes occurrence and it represents a planetary shamanic death and rebirth point. It is time for all the secrets to ascension and empowered living to be known and used wisely. This Timing suggests we are being required to die to the ways of secrets and misuse of power -- especially power over others and be reborn into ways that are designed to empower everyone to live their greatest essence and fulfillment of their soul’s purpose.
…a true shaman keeps no secrets about knowledge that can help and heal. The difficulty is not in keeping knowledge secret, but in getting people to understand and use it. As for misuse, that only comes from ignorance. The more knowledge everyone has about how to change things, the less inclination and opportunity there will be for misuse. Widely spread knowledge actually has more potency than secrets locked up and unused. Knowledge held secret is about as useful as money under a miser’s mattress. And the sacredness of knowledge lies not in its reservation for a few, but in its availability to many. More likely such a fear of free expression has to do with a baser fear that the guardian of knowledge really hasn’t much to guard or doesn’t understand what he has. And finally, shamans recognize no hierarchy or authority in matters of the mind; if ever a group of people could be said to follow a system of spiritual democracy, it would be the shamans of the world. ~Urban Shaman by Serge Kahili King, Ph.D.
December 22, Saturday. Winter Solstice window as Sun moves into Capricorn 1:08 am Eastern Time. The Solstice window lasts three days (yesterday, today and tomorrow) as the Sun stands still and rises in the same place along the horizon all three days. Currently this is occurring near Galactic Center where the Milky Way intersects the ecliptic.
What we energize in our hearts, thoughts, prayers, celebrations and ceremonies is seeding the next year long solar cycle as well as a much larger Great Year cycle of 26,000 years. The end and beginning of the Great Year occurs over many years and we are in the process of dreaming the form of the new cycle. Our prayers, ceremonies, and the things we say and do are creating the new form.

More on the Galactic Alignment
http://www.alignment2012.com/truezone.htm http://www.shamanicastrology.com/articles07.htm
This magical Solstice Window is greatly magnified by the Sun Jupiter conjunction also occurring today at 11:11 pm Mountain Time at 1 degree and 1 minute of Capricorn. The last time Jupiter was conjunct the Sun in Capricorn was January 19, 1997 (29 Capricorn). The next time Jupiter is conjunct the Sun in Capricorn will be December 27, 2019 (6 Capricorn). Sun and Jupiter will not join at the December Solstice near zero Capricorn again until December 21, 2090, and in 2090, Pluto will have been in Aries for many years. In fact it will be nearly three thousand years before we have the Sun Jupiter and Pluto all line up near the December Solstice, and by then, the December Solstice will no longer be aligned along the Galactic plane. Thus, we can get a sense of how rare and important this Timing is.
Venus (20 Scorpio) squares Neptune (20 Aquarius) heightening creative, intuitive, dreaming energies. The shadow of this Time could manifest as being caught up in the illusions of our current cultural dream. This tends to limits our inner and outer experience of who we truly are. The sacred feminine expression is showing up in the Scorpio realm as the sorceress, connected to the infinite source, sourcing her reality through living her passion while tuning into the intuitive guidance Neptune offers. Trusting the inner guidance is a key element to manifesting your soul’s desire.
December 23, Sunday. Lunar Standstill Cancer Full Moon (2 Cancer) and Moon occults Mars (3 Cancer near the center of the Sacred Hoop) visible in Alaska, NW Canada, Greenland, Scotland and NE Europe. Moon is tracking high across the sky so it is lighting up the long night appearing in the sky for a longer time than a Full Moon in summer when the Full Moon tracks low across the sky and the nights are short. During the Lunar Standstill years, the Moon is tracking at its highest possible point when it is in Cancer and its lowest possible point when it is in Capricorn, meaning that the Moon actually passes directly over the Galactic Edge, sending us a direct transmission from this area of the sky. This is an especially important Full Moon as it is also falling in the window of the Winter Solstice as well as being the last Full Moon to occur during the central years of the Lunar Standstill at the Galactic Edge.
Most of us know, based on our personal experience, that radical changes have been accelerated, and even though we might like to know what it means more specifically, we also know that the meaning will vary from person to person based on their individual context of experience. When we note that Galactic Center was central to Mayan cosmology, as well as Egyptian and many other ancient cultures, we know we are in a time of transformative alchemy that may reach beyond galactic proportions. The cosmology is reflecting what all the prophecies and channeled information is saying. What it means depends upon how we engage the energies because we inform the mysteries as much as they inform us and we are co-creating the New Heaven and the New Earth.
December 24, Monday. Mars (3 Cancer) rises as the Sun (3 Capricorn) sets beginning a new 26-month cycle of Mars in the Cancer domain. The new Mars Quest focuses on responsible nurturing of first self and then others. Nurturing ourselves through healthy self-care is essential as we move through the dimensional shift now occurring. This includes all aspects of our lifestyle that nurture and support healthy living including exercise, adequate rest, the food we eat, the activities we engage in, the people we choose to be in relationship with, the work we do, and the ways we nurture our spirit through our thoughts and feelings. If any of these things or any area of our life does not feel nurturing, then the next 26 months is a time for exploring new healthy ways that nurture us. Once we are doing that then nurturing others in healthy ways comes naturally.
Included in this process is healing any wounds we have with the Father archetype including the demanding, judgmental, punishing patriarchal Father who seemingly is never pleased or satisfied with our accomplishments or achievements or with who we are. Learning how to connect with a healthy father image within ourselves is a part of this unfolding journey. Healthy Mars in Cancer is expressed as a safe, loving, compassionate, kind, generous, caring, and supportive Father whose greatest delight is celebrating the unique gifts his children bring to his life. And so the quest begins.
December 25, Tuesday. MERRY CHRISTMAS Moon moves into Leo until December 28 and Mercury (8 Capricorn) trines Retrograde Saturn (8 Virgo). One of the messages of this Timing is to remind us that we are divine beings and we deserve to receive the abundant gifts the universe has to offer, not because of what we do to earn those gifts, but simply because we exist. This isn’t about deserving from a place of selfish-entitlement but it also does not come from some cosmic computer that is keeping a tally of our good and bad behavior and then decides we are deserving if we have been good enough whatever “good enough “ might be.
The message of the coming days as Mercury trines Saturn and the Moon moves through Leo is to know that we do deserve to live and experience our true heart’s desire. The trick is to really know that and to then be open to experience the fulfillment of our desires as they relate to fulfilling our soul’s purpose. It is doubt and uncertainty that get in the way. One way to deal with doubt and uncertainty is to offer it up to the transmuting power of the violet fire. (See July and October 2007 Archives.)
December 26, Wednesday. Retrograde Mars (02 Cancer) is opposite Jupiter (02 Capricorn) with both still aligned along the Galactic Plane. Mars is near the exact center point of the Galactic Edge and Jupiter is near the exact center point of the Galactic Center. This is powerful activation through the expansive energies of Jupiter and the sacred masculine energies of Mars who has just begun a new quest in the Cancer domain to discover new, viable ways to experience and express responsible nurturing. The Cancer Capricorn axis currently aligned along the Galactic plane (for many more years) is the axis that works with the core foundational expressions of healthy family and community. These archetypes are undergoing radical shifts as they access new light codes designed to further facilitate the healthy evolution of these archetypal energies.
December 27, Thursday. Moon moves into Virgo transmitting the mysteries associated with Spider Woman who weaves the pattern of life…bridging the experiences of the past with the future we are choosing. This is especially true when we are willing to dream and vision and reweave our existing web or pattern. You might have noticed how the spider web begins with a tiny center and the strands of the web connect one to the other growing ever outward, yet still connected to the center. More importantly when spider wisely weaves her web everything she needs is drawn to her.
As we prepare for a new year, this is a great time to physically draw your own web. I like to use an eight pointed star drawn on blue paper with blue ink. As I am drawing the connecting web lines, I image I am placing my intentions into the forming web. I often write words, phrases, and symbols around the web and then place it on my altar as a reminder of the intention I am attracting into my personal web. This has created wonderful miracles in my life and the lives of those around me in ways I would not have imagined when I began doing this. It is a powerful tool and not to be underestimated so it is important to be conscious of what you are energizing within your own web. This is also a great way to energize your intentions for the New Year.
December 28, Friday. The waning Moon occults Regulus visible in South America and then conjuncts Saturn. This is the twelfth time the Moon has occulted Regulus this year, again opening the doorway to the Hall of Records. Regulus is the heart of the lion and the constellation of the Lion in the sky is linked with the Sphinx on the Earth. The Sphinx is the guardian of the Hall of Records on the Earth. Moon occultations over Regulus allow us to see through the veil into the Hall of Records. This Behenian star has been also magically activated by the transits of Saturn and Venus this past year. Venus passed Regulus three times during the retrograde process and Saturn will come back to station within less than two degrees of Regulus on May 3, 2008. Saturn will be within 6 Degrees of Regulus from mid-February to mid-July 2008 meaning this magical star is strengthened during that time by Saturn’s presence.
According to Starlight Elixirs and Cosmic Vibrational Healing by Michael Smulkis and Fred Rubenfeld http://hilarion.com/stars.html Regulus is a star that assists us in recognizing patterns, and the micro patterns within the patterns. The action of developing an attitude shift through our deeper awareness around these patterns helps us to manifest forgiveness of ourselves and others so it is possible to transform the limiting patterns that have inhibited our fullest divine expression.
December 29, Saturday. Mercury (15 Capricorn) sextiles Uranus (15 Pisces) assisting in creating unusual communication that facilitates opportunities for receiving multi-dimensional, revolutionary, life changing information.
December 30, Sunday. Sun (8 Capricorn 28) trines Saturn (8 Virgo 28) in the Still Point of the Saturn Retrograde that took place on December 19 when Saturn was at 8 degrees of Virgo and 34 minutes. There are 60 minutes in each degree, 30 degrees in each sign, so it is easy to see that Saturn is barely moving (only six minutes) since December 19, eleven days ago. Conscious attention to this Still Point helps to bring focus and guidance to the actions that will support whatever changes are ready to express in the world of form once Saturn goes direct on May 1.
Venus moves into Sagittarius where it remains until January 24, 2008. This is the feminine expression of the Questing Amazon Adventurer who boldly goes where no one has gone before in search of personal and divine truth, life purpose, and expansion of the self to its widest possible expression. Are you feeling inspired by new information, new insights, and new ideas? Are you open to seeking greater meaning and understanding in your life experience? Are you open to expanding your sense of knowing and truth?
The Last Quarter Moon (9 Libra) at 2:51 am Eastern Time is marking the return threshold crossing of the current Moon cycle centering around the mysteries of conscious equal partnership in harmony and balance with all life. This is the phase of the cycle where the gifts of the journey are ready to be integrated. Libra teaches us about the equal importance of each part, each relationship, each point on the sacred wheel of life. No one person or no thing is more or less important than any other is. It is through cultivating conscious awareness and choice and our willingness to embrace the many varied parts of life that we are able to experience the gifts of conscious relationship with each other and the Earth.
December 31, Monday. Happy New Year’s Eve. Mars Retrogrades back into Gemini today reminding the sacred masculine, now questing for the mysteries of responsible nurturing, to have fun and play along the way. Gemini reminds Mars not to take things too seriously and to use his imagination as one of the ways he can enjoy the journey. Self-nurturing includes our ability to have lots of fun and time to play. If what we are doing in life is not fun, then the question to ask is, “how can we make it fun or how can we do something that is fun?”
Around midnight on local time every year on New Year’s Eve, the triple star Sirius is directly overhead energizing our experience of the high magic Sirius sends to Earth at this time. Sirius is the brightest fixed star in our sky and so when Sirius reaches the zenith or is directly overhead at midnight, it touches the Earth with a magnificent download of Sirian light energy just as we humans are embracing another Gregorian calendar year. The light codes from Sirius infuse the Earth’s magnetic grid with actively radiant divine energy. This helps to inspire and awaken humanity to greater love and understanding when we are open to receiving this infusion.
Recent findings reveal we are "downstream" from Sirius in the part of the galactic arm our solar system resides in. If God is the bringer of life (energy) and light, Sirius fits the description — it transmits its energy (highly charged particles) to our entire system via the magnetic field lines. We literally receive energy from Sirius! http://www.souledout.org/cosmology/cossynthreflects/sirius.html
