August 2008 Celestial Timings

This prophetic statement from the Fellowship of the Ring fits the energy being activated in this August Eclipse Season. It seems especially true for the August 1 Total Solar Eclipse at 9 Leo illuminating and accelerating the mysteries of the King Queen archetype. Plus Venus, Mercury and the Sun all pass by Regulus, the heart of the Lion and the royal star of the King and Queen, this month. Mercury and Venus pass by Regulus during the time between eclipses in the Cross-Quarter between seasons. The Sun joins with Regulus on August 22. (See Aug 5, 7, 10 and 22 Daily Timings for more).
In a Total Solar Eclipse the Moon passes between the Sun and the Earth casting a shadow over the light of the Sun. Night descends into day then after a few moments the light returns as the shadow of the Moon moves off the Sun literally enacting the line from the above verse that says “A light from the shadows shall spring”.
The sword or blade in the next line is a symbol of divine authority, divine kingship and the responsibility that comes with embodying divine power. Working with the imagery of renewing the blade and the light springing from the shadow tells us that perhaps what was broken in the Leo mysteries of the Divine King and Queen was the forgetting that we are all divinely created and we all have the right and responsibility to determine our own life path as the masters of our destiny.
This August 1 Total Solar Eclipse begins a two week Eclipse Window or Cauldron of accelerated transformational change that lasts until the Partial Lunar Eclipse on August 16 suggesting this time is ideal for renewing the blade and reclaiming the crown. (See Aug 1 and 16)

Perseids are active from July 17 to Aug 24. The peak is August 12-13 though not so visible due to the waxing gibbous Moon.

Night Sky Highlights
This is one of the best times of year to see the Galactic Cross near Galactic Center located between the constellation of the Archer and the Scorpion.
This is Sky Map of Galactic Cross near Galactic Center Mid-August around 9:30 pm local time. Blue line marks the Galactic Equator. The Green line marks the Ecliptic (path of the planets and the intersection of these two lines is where the December Solstice Sun in now rising.
Visible Planets
(These are the highlights for this month with more details and interpretations shared in the Daily Timings)
- Sun (9 Leo to 8 Virgo) reaches the astrological cross-quarter between the Summer Solstice and the Autumnal Equinox on August 6, 7, and 8. On August 1 there is a total eclipse of the Sun visible in Russia, Mongolia and China
- Mercury (12 Leo to 3 Libra) is within six degrees of Regulus from August 6 to 14 with the exact pass on August 9 and 10. Mercury is so low in the evening twilight it may not be possible to see this conjunction. Mercury will be easier to spot by August 22 still within 1.2 degrees of Venus. Mercury sets just before Venus nearly an hour after Sunset.
- Venus (24 Cancer to 1 Libra) Venus is within six degrees of Regulus from July 30 to August 12 with the exact pass occurring on August 5 and 6. Venus is easier to spot at this time than Mercury and is setting about an hour after Sunset as August ends.
- Mars (18 Virgo to 7 Libra) is now only 1.7 degrees magnitude and much dimmer than Venus, Mercury, Saturn and Regulus though it is still higher in the sky having already passed Regulus last month. Mars is setting just over an hour after Sunset by month’s end near the same time as Mercury and Venus.
- Jupiter (14 Capricorn 40 retrograding back to 12 Capricorn 38) lights up the night sky at -2.5 magnitude still near its maximum brightness this year and is moving back toward the nape of the arrow of the Archer.
- Saturn (8 Virgo to 11 Virgo) is beginning this month having now moved beyond the six degree range of Regulus. Mercury passes Saturn on August 13 and Venus joins with Saturn on August 15 when all three planets Mercury, Venus and Saturn are within less than 3 degrees of each of other. Saturn disappears from view by the end of the month.
- Moon (goes through all the signs in a month starting May in Gemini and ending it in Cancer) The Moon conjuncts Mercury on Aug 1, Venus on Aug 2, Saturn on Aug 3, Mars on Aug 4 and Jupiter on Aug 13.

The path of the Moon's umbral shadow (the darkest area or blackest part of the eclipse shadow) begins in Canada and extends across northern Greenland, the Arctic, central Russia, Mongolia, and China. A partial eclipse is seen within the much broader path of the Moon's penumbral shadow (a fringe region of partial shadow around an umbra), which includes northeastern North America, most of Europe and Asia. This Leo Solar Eclipse carries the seeds of knowing our divine essence and the royalty we all are. The opening quote from the Lord of the Rings in the introduction to this month’s Timings reminds us we all have the opportunity to regain our royal crown through radical self-love and self-confidence and to consciously embody the codex of divine light information that is being activated.
It may help to remember that love is not so much something we do. Love just IS. It is a state of being. It is easier to access this state of being when we are in a place of acceptance. Resistance to what IS consumes large amounts of energy ultimately weakening and depleting our life force. Acceptance however, does not use up our life force energy and has the power to transform naturally and easily. This means the accelerating light codes coming in through this Leo Super New Moon Eclipse can more easily manifest. Remember reality is not fixed but responds to our thoughts, feelings and actions. What we are thinking, feeling and doing today is being further accelerated and activated by today’s Eclipse.

Aug 2, Saturday. Cartago, Costa Rica celebrates this cross-quarter timing on August 2. This is when La Negrita is honored and celebrated. La Negrita is a small Black Virgin statue found by a young girl in 1635. The statue demonstrated magical powers by always mysteriously returning to the spot where it was first found. It was decided a church should be built on the spot and that is where La Negrita resides to this day. The Moon conjuncts Venus (23 Leo) for the first time since Venus rose as an evening star last month. Venus and the tiny crescent Moon may be visible low on the western horizon after Sunset. This is calling attention to the passage of the Queen of Heaven (a.k.a Inanna) through the first gate out of the underworld (The first gate is also known as the Gate of Authority where we realize we are the author of our own life).
The story of Inanna is the cosmological telling of the cycle of Venus. Venus just rose into the evening sky after a long journey with the Sun that began in early May and ended in mid to late July. Now the Queen of Heaven is meeting with the Moon seven or eight times over the next few months retrieving the vestments she was required to release on her way into the underworld. The vestments at each gate symbolize the chakras. When on her way out of the underworld Inanna retrieves her vestments in the opposite order she gave them up.
The exact vestments or symbols vary depending on the source. Every version I’ve seen describes the vestment of this gate as the royal robe or “garment of ladyship”. This symbolizes the return of Inanna’s life force (first chakra) and the authority she has to determine her life path. Venus has come face to face with her shadow self having died to all that was not her true essence. This Moon Venus conjunction (still within the potency of yesterday’s eclipse) is symbolizing the retrieval of healthy life force energy that can now be appropriately directed toward the fulfillment of her true purpose.
This timing is especially important for all those who are turning or have turned a multiple of 8 (8, 16, 24, 32, 40, 48, 56, 64, 72, 80, 88 etc.) between August 24, 2007 and mid-April 2009 as you are in your eight year synodic Venus return representing a powerful 584 day initiation process with the divine feminine. This timing is also important in the collective sense representing another opportunity for the divine feminine to reclaim her strength and power as it relates to the healthy use of her life force energy. In the sign of Leo this is the expression of the feminine we refer to as the Amazon Queen who shows up with such charming, charismatic self-love that it inspires others and also reflects to them the magnificence of their own divinity.
Aug 3, Sunday. The Moon conjuncts Saturn (8 Virgo) and Venus is approaching Regulus exact tomorrow and the next day. The Moon Saturn conjunction in Virgo illuminates what is being restructured within the patterning of life. Spider Woman is receiving wise council about what aspects of the web need reweaving. The questions being asked and answered now are: How can we better care for and honor the sacred expression of the Earth? How do we reweave our web of life so we are living in greater harmony with the natural world and taking responsibility for living in a sacred way that includes sustainability for all life?
Aug 4, Monday. The Moon conjuncts Mars (20 Virgo) and Venus (28 Leo) is with Regulus trining Pluto (28 Sagittarius). In this cross-quarter window between eclipses these aspects are magnified especially as Venus, Mercury and the Sun all cross over the magical Behenian star Regulus this month. The Full Moon partial Eclipse on August 16 finds the Sun within 6 degrees of Regulus drawing our attention to the magical power of this star that has been so strongly featured over the past two years. The heart of lion reminds us to tune into our own hearts for guidance as to how we can best utilize the codex of light and energy beaming toward us at this time. These light frequencies have the power to shift the old forms especially when we are focusing our intention and attention toward living Heaven on Earth.
Aug 5, Tuesday. Venus moves into Virgo until August 30 and remains within 6 degrees of Regulus until August 12. The sacred feminine having just retrieved a healthier expression of her life force energy is in position to more deeply access the light codes deep within the Lion's heart. The Source of Life, of all existence, operates from an intelligence beyond what we can understand with our minds. This intelligence is found in every aspect of life that Virgo recognizes as the patterning of life. Accessing the wisdom of the heart and how that relates to our personal pattern assists in weaving a web of reality that is in harmony with the greater pattern. When we are aligned with the external and internal pattern magic happens because every aspect, every tiny thread of this great web of life is linked and intended to be a wondrous, magical experience.
Aug 6, Wednesday. With Mars (22 Virgo) opposite Uranus (22 Pisces) we have a powerful window of unexpected events that may take place. The effects of this are felt for at least three days before and after today’s exact timing. Mars Uranus aspects remind us it is wise to be extra aware as this is a timing that can produce accidents if we need a wake-up call. Uranus operates through radical change and in Pisces it is also operating through radical compassion. The most radically compassionate act we can do for ourselves and others is to embrace what IS in the moment knowing that whatever is happening now is changing. Sometimes the feeling is it can’t change fast enough and other times the change is strongly resisted. However, change is guaranteed so it helps to trust the flow of change while releasing attachments knowing the change is leading us toward our destiny.
The intuitive right-brained expression of Mercury in Leo (23 Leo) is within six degrees of Regulus until August 14 and is highlighted by Mercury’s opposition to intuitive right-brained Neptune (23 Aquarius). These are highly creative energies assisting in optimizing attunement with the field of all possibilities for inspired imaging, dreaming and thinking. There is also a possibility of feeling ungrounded, confused and disoriented. Relaxing and allowing your inner guidance to direct your actions in ways that may not seem logical and rational can produce unexpected yet valuable and innovative results. True divinely inspired insights are possible when we are open to the messages of magic and mystery that Mercury and Neptune are bringing.
Aug 7, Thursday. Today marks the Astrological Cross-Quarter of Lammas or Lughnasah (pronounced Loo-nuh-suh) when the Sun reaches 15 degrees Leo the half way point between the Summer Solstice and the Autumnal Equinox. The days are growing shorter, though still longer than the nights, and Autumn is just around the corner. In ancient times the cross-quarter dates between the equinoxes and solstices were celebrated as the “border time” or in-between time, the mid-point in-between two seasons and was a time for gaining insight and/or inspiration beyond the limits of ordinary time. Utilizing this time for divination, meditation or other forms of guidance is especially effective now in helping to further assimilate all the Harmonic Galactic Vibrational Shifts now in process.
Currently the Cross-quarter is located near the fixed star Alterf in the constellation of the Lion. This star name is from the Arabic word At-Tarf or "the glance" of the Lion's eye, although on modern maps the star lies in the open mouth, where Ptolemy located it. Perhaps this is about what the Lion sees and then is willing to communicate. What are you seeing or not seeing? What are you only glancing at and perhaps missing? What do you see and how do you communicate that?
Today opens the First Quarter Moon window exact tomorrow in this cross-quarter window in-between time…including being exactly half way between eclipses as we are half between the New and Full Moon. The Scorpio Mysteries are connected to the realms of magic and manifestation where great magic happens when we are aligning our will with Divine Will, releasing attachments to how we want it to look and trusting that whatever is unfolding is even more magical than what we have imagined.
Aug 8, Friday. 08/08/08 Triple Infinite Time Gate. The First Quarter Moon in Scorpio (16 Scorpio 38) is occurring in this Cross-Quarter Eclipse Window further awakens the infinity codes within our DNA as we birth more fully into the mysteries of radical self-awakening through radical self-love. When a small percentage of us consciously experience these awakening codes the morphogenetic field* shifts in a fundamental altering of our reality from a fear based world to a world based in the transforming power of love.
This is all quickening these between-time Time Fields taking us deeper into realms of experience beyond anything this planet has ever experienced. This 08-08-08 Thrice Blessed Time Gate of infinite power, infinite love, and infinite wisdom is a great time to ponder the mysteries of Time.

* Biologist Rupert Sheldrake, describes Morphogenetic fields as the energy that creates the patterns of physical form. The existing patterns become the basis for newly forming systems through resonance. This describes how human consciousness is shared. The understanding of these fields is that humanity will go thru a dramatic collective shift in consciousness when critical mass is reached (similar to the 100th Monkey Effect), or when a critical number of spiritually awakened individuals begin creating a resonance pattern that will form new patterns of conscious for all of humanity.
Aug 9, Saturday. Mercury (28 Leo near Regulus) trines Pluto (28 Sagittarius) as the Moon travels through Sagittarius on its way to meet with Pluto in the early morning hours of August 12. This suggests a powerful quest for heart centered truth (as it relates to our divine expression) is gaining keys to greater illumination when we remember the truth is always in the present moment. Seeking the truth keeps us looking to the future. The quest for truth then starts with the quest for being present in the moment. We cannot force this to happen however we can practice being with our breath and being aware of the pause between each inhalation and exhalation. When we are aware of this pause it acts as a point of reference that brings our awareness to the present.
Aug 10, Sunday. Mercury Moves into Virgo until August 28 and is within 5 degrees of Venus (5 Virgo). Venus and Mercury will meet exactly for three days on Aug 19, 20 and 21 but are within 5 degrees or less of each other most of this month. Mercury in Virgo is sensitively attuned to the natural cycles and rhythms of the Earth and Sky for the purpose of living in sacred harmony and balance with all life. This is the domain of Spider Woman who weaves the web of reality and is a great archetypal image to connect with over these next couple of months. What is the sacred nature of our reality and how can we most honor, acknowledge and respect the new forms now emerging?
Mercury and Venus have been in a close dance most of this year. You may remember from the April Celestial Timings (see April Archives) that according to The Book Of Hiram by Christopher Knight and Robert Lomas the builders of Solomon’s temple were particularly interested in the 40 year Venus Mercury cycle seeing those times as the return of the Shekinah (divine feminine) and an acceleration in growth and consciousness. Venus and Mercury remained closely aligned from late Feb to mid-April in the morning sky. They came together again in June with the Sun and now in August and September they are showing up together in the evening sky spending unusually long periods of time within 10 degrees or less of each other. Looking back 40 years to 1968 can give us clues about the nature of what these energies may be bringing us and being conscious of our choices now can produce more beneficial results.
The Moon occults Antares (10 Sagittarius) for the seventh time this year visible in central South America, and the southern tips of Africa and Madagascar Antares is a royal Behenian star linked with Archangel Uriel, and transforms through the power of love expressed through the heart.
Aug 11, Monday. This month features the on-going conjunction of the North Node with Chiron at 18 Aquarius. Interestingly, there is a star known as Sualocin (a.k.a. Alpha Delphini) located in the constellation of Delphinus (pronounced dell fee' nus) or the constellation of the Dolphin or Sacred Fish as it has been described since ancient times. In Greek Myth Delphinus is the dolphin sent by Apollo to save the drowning musician and poet Arion who was thrown overboard by greedy sailors desiring his possessions. Another Greek tale describes Poseidon’s desire to marry a sea nymph named Amphitrite. At first she was not interested in Poseidon but was persuaded by a dolphin to accept Posiedon’s marriage proposal. In gratitude for the dophin’s help Poseidon placed the image of the dolphin among the stars as the constellation Delphinus.
Delphinus and Dolphin comes from the Greek word delphis (dolphin) derived from the Greek word delphus, meaning womb. Delphus is the root for the Greek words describing children born from the same mother, such as adelphoi (singular), adelphos (brother), and adelphas (sister). This translates to mean literally 'from the same womb'. Words like Philadelphus or Philadelphia translate to calf referring to various offspring such as Cattle, Antelope, Moose, Elk, Giraffe, Buffalo, Hippo’s, Rhino’s, Whales and Dolphins. Delphinus also links to Delphi in Greece.
Delphi is where the most famous oracle and the sanctuary to Phoebus Apollo was located. The Greeks considered Delphi the center of the world. The story is that Zeus decided to locate the exact center of the world so he released two Eagles from opposites ends of the Earth. One was released from the East and the other from the West and where they met was in Delphi thus determining the center of the world.

Returning to the Alpha Star or main star of Dephinus known as Saulocin and zodiacally located at 18 Aquarius it is interesting to note where this name comes from. The origin of the name Sualocin was a mystery until it was discovered that Sualocin is Nicolaus spelled backwards.

Tuning into the Chiron North Node conjunction zodiacally aligned with Sualocin in the constellation of Delphinus it seems there is an oracular healing nature to this timing. The North Node represents humanities destiny and Chiron represents Shamanic Healing. Delphinus connects us to the source, the womb, the omphalos or center of the world where perhaps the most famous oracle has ever existed.
The Shamanic Healing now possible may come through a reversal of fear and any disconnection from source that predominates our collective experience - just as Sualocin is Nicolaus reversed. Aug 12, Tuesday. The Moon conjuncts retrograde Pluto (28 Sagittarius) at Galactic Center and moves into Capricorn appearing just past Jupiter tomorrow night. For those with planets or angles between 28 and 30 degrees of mutable signs or as we say in Shamanic Astrology the signs that are In Service to Spirit (Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, and Pisces) and zero degrees to 2 degrees of Householder Signs (a.k.a the Cardinal signs Capricorn, Cancer, Libra, Aries) you have been in a Pluto Initiation intended to bring greater empowerment into your life once you face your shadow issues, or the fears that hold you back from being who you truly are.
This Moon conjunction further illuminates this process. If you have sufficiently surrendered and died to what is needed, then this is the time for being reborn into a truer, more empowered aspect of yourself. Aug 13, Wednesday. Venus conjuncts Saturn (9 Virgo). Venus is located 0.2 degrees South of Saturn in the constellation of the Lion. Venus of course is the brighter of the two. Venus and Saturn last met on October 13 2007 at 4 Virgo. Venus and Saturn both represent the feminine principle. Saturn is about form or matter (mater or mother) and connects with the biological circuitry of Earth and all who live here. Venus represents the divine feminine in her many forms though in Virgo she is most specifically concerned with the feminine expression of the Priestess of the one who honors the Earth as sacred and whose function it is to keep the pattern of the Earth and all who live here in harmony with each other and the greater cosmos.
It is important to be gentle and caring toward ourselves and each other as we continue to experience this vibrational shift. Taking time to tune into the emerging changes within the Earth Grid (or web of life), as well as our own changes, helps us to navigate what might feel like disorienting times. We may feel our personal energy and/or our life situations are fluctuating as the old patterns are up leveled to a new more efficient operating system. Aug 14, Thursday. Just after Sunset tonight is a triple conjunction of Venus (highest and brightest), Mercury (lowest but second brightest), and Saturn (in the middle and the least bright of the three) all near 9 Virgo. These three planets will be less than three degrees apart in the constellation of the Lion appearing in a nearly straight line. Also worth noting is Mars 16 degrees beyond the triple conjunction. If you have clear skies this is worth checking as it visually inspiring. The triune council of Venus, Saturn and Mercury in Virgo is helping to structure new perceptions and experiences around relating to the Earth as our Great Mother including honoring her as sacred.
Sun (22 Leo) is near a fixed yellow star called Algenubi or Ras Elased Bore that marks the brow of the Lion and is one of the six stars in the sickle that marks the head of the Lion. This star has been associated with abundance, increasing bounty, majesty, power, and the bestowing of favors, suggesting this is a good star to wish upon. Moon occults Neptune (visible through a telescope in North East Africa, Eastern Europe, Western and Central Asia) a couple of hours before the exact Full Moon Partial North Node Lunar Eclipse (24 Aquarius) visible primarily in the Eastern Hemisphere as well as eastern South America) with Chiron and the North Node included. This Aquarian Full Moon Eclipse energy is drastically accelerating and revolutionizing radical change as Chiron and the North Node (both 18 Aquarius – see August 11) and Neptune (22 Aquarius) add their initiatory energies to this Timing. It is challenging to track the Timewave Zero concept in a left brain, logical rational way. Many of us will find our understanding is limited to a basic sense of the math and science detailing the Timewave. However, looking at the many Celestial Events that have already occurred in recent years, plus upcoming events in the Timeline as we approach 2012 and beyond all conspire to support the kind of massive changes the Timewave Zero concept describes telling us this is a very real possibility. Dolphin communication occurs through sonar and resonating frequencies reminding us that when we work together holding a vision or form for our world our entire reality will shift to mirror the images and frequencies we are engaging. The Moon conjuncts Uranus today, plus Chiron and the North Node are still together at 18 Aquarius. (See August 11) These energies are amplifying the mysteries of radical compassion and the profound healing that is possible further illuminating our divine destiny. The themes of the recent Lunar Eclipse along with today’s events are continuing to accelerate healthy experiences of radical compassion and kindness for ourselves and others when we are open to these energies. Radical compassion comes from loving acceptance of what IS, without a need to change it, fix it, or make it be different. This place of acceptance brings unexpected radical changes wherever needed; because when we are operating from acceptance of what IS there is no resistance and then whatever is ready to change can - often in miraculous ways through the gifts of Grace.
On a personal note, last month was a profound reminder of the power of acceptance and miraculous change, Two years agoI went through a painful, heart-breaking personal situation involving events beyond my control. I knew it was important to accept what was happening even though it was far from what I wanted. Rather than fight the situation as I might have done in the past, I consciously chose to trust that it was what it needed to be and released my picture of how I had wanted it to look. It was SO not easy for me to do as I had BIG attachments to what I thought it should be as well as how I wanted it to BE.
On July 2, 2008 quite suddenly and unexpectedly the situation reversed bringing with it unexpected healing opportunities and growth. There are others involved with this situation or I would share more specifics. Most important though is the power of acceptance and surrender to eventually transform even the most challenging situations. This mantra a friend shared with me a couple of years ago helped me through… Accept What IS and Trust the Universe. I am happy to know more than ever that it really works miracles.
Aug 19, Tuesday. The waning Moon moves into Aries today energizing the mysteries of spontaneous action. Aries is an energy that acts before it reflects whereas other energies may need time to process or reflect before taking action. However just as sometimes we may act to quickly without thinking things through there are times when quick decisive action is necessary or opportunities can be lost. When the Moon is in Aries it is a great time for spontaneous, intuitive, decisive and inspired action that is authentically aligned with divine will.
Mars moves into Libra crossing the Autumnal Equinox point and traveling through this domain until October 3. This is the phase of the Mars journey where the sacred masculine is now ready to learn more about himself in the process of relationships including his relationship with family, friends, community, the Earth, the Sky, the plants, animals, and unseen beings that share our world. In the story of Inanna (Venus) she is about to send Dumuzi (Mars) into the underworld in mid-October because of what she perceives is his unconscious self-absorbed behavior. Therefore, it is time the masculine principle within each of us takes time to note how we are showing up in relationship to the rest of life and make changes where needed.
Venus and Mercury (17 Virgo) are hanging out within one degree for the next three days August 19, 20 and 21. This will be visible very low on the western horizon after Sunset. The Queen of Heaven, Venus, is receiving a powerful initiatory experience from Mercury over the next few days. (See August 10)
Aug 20, Wednesday. Sun (28 Leo 36) trines retrograde Pluto (28 Sagittarius 36) signaling the rapid slowing of Pluto moving only 6 minutes between now and its direct station on Sep 8 at 28 Sagittarius 30. All those who have planets or angles between 28 Sagittarius and 1 Capricorn are currently in a Pluto cycle where we are required to let go, surrender, release our attachments and die to who we believe ourselves to be. It is not that what we are attached to is necessarily either good or bad for us, though sometimes it can perceived as one or the other, but rather that we have any attachments at all. Attachment can range from people, places and things to being attached to ideas, perceptions, beliefs, and life being a certain way.
In Pluto cycles what happens is once a person releases their attachments to whatever it is holding them back be it their work, or a relationship, or a belief system, or a specific lifestyle, or people or circumstances being a certain way then whatever they let go of that was truly a part of their essential nature comes back to them in a way that is better than it was before. This is also neatly summed up by Neale Donald Walsh in one of his daily messages saying:
On this day of your life, dear friend, I believe God wants you to know...that you must be willing to lose it all before you can have it all.
What does this mean? It means that until you can let go of everything, you will find it hard to hold onto anything.

Aug 21, Thursday. Mercury conjuncts Venus (19 Virgo see August 19) and the Sun is conjunct Regulus. The Upanishads are ancient Vedic Texts that tell us the Sun acts as a doorway to the Mysteries. The Sun near Regulus today is illuminating the doorway of to the transformative power of the alchemical flame within the heart of who we are.
According to the book Starlight Elixirs and Cosmic Vibrational Healing by Michael Smulkis and Fred Rubenfeld http://hilarion.com/stars.html, Regulus assists in unblocking buried subconscious patterns. They suggest that working with this star over time brings a sense of appreciation and understanding of how we fit into our patterns and when we become conscious of the limiting patterns that prevent us from being who we truly are we can begin to make more conscious choices. When we are choosing compassionate understanding, self-love, and self-awareness, we are better able to gently transform these limiting patterns with loving patience and self-acceptance.
Aug 22, Friday. The Sun moves into Virgo and Mercury is opposite Uranus. The Sun travels through Virgo until Sep 22 emphasizing our relationship to the pattern of life including the pattern of the natural cycles and rhythms of Earth and Sky. Without a conscious relationship to these patterns, we are only experiencing a part of the whole of life. Returning to wholeness includes returning to a sacred relationship with the Great Above knowing and understanding the movement of the planets through the sky and how that that helps to inform our Earthly experience.
Mercury (21 Virgo) is opposite retrograde Uranus (21 Pisces) catalyzing ever-greater creative self-expression, and conscious open-minded communication. Mercury/Uranus aspects call us to explore and experience new territory in the domain of the mind, communication and visionary inspiration. Mercury is 1.3 degrees South of Venus (21 Virgo) possibly visible very low on the western horizon after Sunset and the Last Quarter Moon (1 Gemini 12) is rising around midnight about a degree North of Pleiades visible in the early morning sky before Sunrise. Venus and Mercury together represented the Shekinah (Divine Feminine) according to certain ancient traditions. With both Venus and Mercury together in Virgo the Divine Feminine is expressing through the mysteries of the High Priestess and her role as one who honors life as sacred. Plus today the Last Quarter Moon is also accessing the mysteries of the irreverent trickster (Moon in Gemini) tricking us into remembering life is not as real as it appears and not to take ourselves to seriously. This is a time for seriously having fun and connecting with the magic of play and how that is one of the highest expressions of the sacred.
Aug 24, Sunday. Venus (23 Virgo) and Mercury (24 Virgo) are moving to catch up to Mars (3 Libra). Mercury catches up to Mars on Sep 7 and 8 and Venus catches up to Mars on Sept 11 at 15 Libra. The joining of Venus and Mars in the evening sky is part of the cosmological telling of the Venus cycle through the story of Inanna. This is when Venus finds her partner Dumuzi sitting on the throne having no concern for the fact that Inanna has been missing the past several weeks during her underworld journey. Inanna is required to send someone to replace her in the underworld so she sends Dumuzi. Mars will disappear from the evening sky mid-October and travels for about four months with the Sun in the underworld. Venus on the other hand continues to shine brightly in the evening sky until April of 2009. (See Aug 2 and 31)
Aug 25, Monday. Moon moves into Cancer crossing the Galactic Edge. Mercury (12 Leo) squares Jupiter (12 Scorpio) exact tomorrow activating a process of assimilating the expansive visions of Jupiter and pushing or expanding the limits of our minds into new territory particularly around the issues of intensely passionate expressions of self-worth, self-love, and self-confidence. The past few weeks have provided an opportunity to deepen our experience of self-love and self-worth especially if we have been actively engaging in practices that promote healthy self-love through self-forgiveness, self-care and compassion.
Our choices backed by our actions help shape our personal experience. Perhaps the best place to begin is by actively forgiving all the ways we have sabotaged ourselves through thoughts and actions that have diminished or negated the magnificence of who we really are. Realizing we do not have to prove ourselves to have value and worth is a key step in shifting to the experiencing of knowing we are valuable because we exist.
Aug 26, Tuesday. Saturn (11 Virgo) and retrograde Uranus (21 Pisces) have moved within 10 degrees of an exact opposition that will occur on election day Nov 4. Saturn loves structure and form and efficient use of time and resources. Saturn is also predictable, dependable and knows how to get things done according to certain rules. Uranus loves freedom, innovation, being unpredictable, and doing things in new and different ways. The opposition of Uranus and Saturn stretches the boundaries of ordinary reality where we count on things operating in predictable ways. This is a time for Saturn to stretch into new territory and to experience events of extreme novelty that pushes the boundaries beyond what is already known. This conjures images of the snake shedding its skin radically leaving behind everything that does not serve the new from.
Aug 27, Wednesday. Moon moves into Leo and further seeds the essence of self-love through the practice of self-care. Osho tells us in The Book of Secrets to be primarily concerned with developing a healthy self-expression first; and then, when we are fully conscious of our True Self, what we are here to do easily manifests.
Get out of this madness of helping others. Just help yourself, that’s all that can be done. And then many things happen…but they happen as a consequence. Once you become a source of Light, things start happening. Many will share it; many will be enlightened through it. Many will attain life, more life, abundant life through it. But don’t think about it….Only one thing can be done and that is, you can become conscious, then everything follows.
Transformational messenger Mercury (28 Virgo) squares shamanic transformer Pluto (28 Sagittarius) deepening and intensifying our mental experience as it relates to the overall pattern of life. Pluto stations Direct on September 8 approaching its deepest dive into the fears that limit our fullest, most empowered expression of who we are – for the purpose of purifying and transforming them. Pluto also dives deep to discover the strengths and abilities that are still unconscious bringing the shadow to the light of our awareness often through experiences that challenge and stretch us beyond our usual comfort zones. Aug 28, Thursday. Mercury moves into Libra crossing the Autumnal Equinox marker and beginning a long journey through Libra until Nov 4 due to its upcoming retrograde station near the fixed star Spica in September. (More about this next month.) Messenger Mercury in Libra is about the relationship we have with our minds and the ability of the mind to be a connecting link for the relationship between the visible and the invisible realms. In the realm of thought we have the ability to transport ourselves instantly to any time or place or situation. We also have the ability to choose where we focus our thoughts.
This brings us back to The Book of Secrets and Osho explaining how thinking is what locates us in Time. He says that if we do not think there is no Time and that is why meditation in particular can feel timeless. He also says a moment of pure love is experienced in the realm of Timelessness.
When we are Thinking we are absent from the Now. Thinking is our first attachment to this reality. It doesn’t help to try to NOT think either. Non-thinking occurs as a natural state. It is the same if we try to give up our attachments to things. When we TRY to give up attachments we can be successful at releasing many of them. However often what happens is we can find ourselves being attached to not being attached. This is the paradox that leads us right back to attachment. So we are reminded this is not about getting rid of attachments but rather understanding why they are there, accepting them, and then they can naturally transform. Ultimately attachments come from our need to feel safe.
During this long transit of Mercury through Libra it may be useful to notice what your relationship with your mind is. What kind of thoughts are you thinking? Are you attached to certain ways of thinking? Can you change your thinking? How attached are you to what you believe and perceive is your reality? The paradox of the mind is we can find ourselves being bored with what we have and longing for what we don’t have. So another question that can serve over the next few weeks is: How can I be content with, or truly accept, what IS right now?
Aug 29, Friday. Venus (28 Virgo) squares Pluto (28 Sagittarius) engaging the Sacred Feminine as she continues to integrate her recent underworld journey to experience more of the truth of her Priestess expression that honors all life as sacred especially the holy temple of the body. So this New Moon is definitely the “right time” to tune in and align with your own supportive personal rhythms creating your own web designed to attract all that you need to fulfill your sacred work in the world.
Aug 31, Sunday. Venus (1 Libra), Mercury (4 Libra) and Mars (8 Libra) are about to meet up exactly with each other next month. Venus and Mercury have been within 10 degrees of each other most of August and stay within 10 degrees until September 25 with their exact meeting on Sep 15. Mars and Mercury have been within 10 degrees of each other since August 23 and stay within 10 degrees until September 27. Mars and Mercury conjunct on Sep 7 and 8. Venus and Mars have been within 10 degrees of each other since August 23 and remain within 10 degrees until September 29. Their exact meeting is September 11 at 15 Libra. (See August 24)
