September 2008 Celestial Timings
By Cayelin K Castell
Where there is great love there are always miracles.
~ Willa Cather
I am continually awed by the potency of the unfolding Celestial Drama and September 2008 is no exception. These Celestial Events help to inform our experience and through our awareness and intention we also help to inform what is unfolding. Many of the aspects taking place have long term effects.
For example the ongoing dance of Chiron, North Node and Neptune has been in affect most of this year. In 2009 Chiron and Neptune go retrograde within one day of each other. Neptune retrogrades on May 29, 2009 at 26 Aquarius and Chiron retrogrades on May 30, 2009 at 26 Aquarius 12. Additionally Jupiter is also around 26 Aquarius in May 2009 and will magnify this Timing. Then it won’t be until Feb 17, 2010 when Chiron and Neptune have their exact meeting at 26 Aquarius 15. Chiron and Neptune do not move beyond 10 degrees of each other until 2016. This means we will be feeling the effects of the Chiron Neptune conjunction for many years to come.
Other major events worth keeping an eye are the Saturn Uranus opposition already within 10 degrees of each other and making their exact opposition on November 4. Saturn and Uranus remain within about 10 degrees of each other until December 2009. The past two years Pluto has been crossing Galactic Center and will make another crossing over the Galactic Cross at the end of November this year coming back to this area in September and October of 2009.
Every aspect has at least a three day affect including the day before and after the exact aspect. Many aspects have an effect that lasts for several weeks, like the Mercury dance with Venus and Mars and Spica occurring over most of this month due to Mercury’s retrograde on Sep 24. Also the Sun Saturn conjunction that is exact on Sep 4 is active from August 23 to about Sep 22. Some aspects may be felt for several days, several weeks, several months or several years. The longer effects usually take place with the slower moving planets as in the example of Chiron and Neptune. As Above, So Below tells us this is all part of the unfolding divine plan, and our participation whether conscious or not affects the results.
A Personal Note on recent Events…
I am not a political person. In fact, I generally distrust politicians and the whole political process. I have reluctantly engaged the voting process since I became eligible to vote as I did feel it was my responsibility to vote - even if my vote was being hi-jacked by an unfair system. My guidance was that it still had an energetic impact. In every election since 1974, I have most often voted for someone other than a Democrat or a Republican. And when I did vote for a main party candidate I wasn't voting for the candidate but rather against the other candidate (as in the last election, for all the good it did). I rarely watch the conventions because it seems so phony and unreal. I usually feel like the candidates are mechanically making promises that they don't really believe themselves. So that is also why I rarely have any sense of the primaries though occasionally bits and pieces of the dog fight do cross my screen of awareness.
So imagine my surprise when I watched the recent Democratic convention with my youngest son who was required to watch it as part of an American Government homework assignment. It was the first time I saw Barack Obama give an entire speech and I was thrilled to see a candidate who is radiating so much aliveness and genuine authentic passion for this country and for restoring the principles it was founded on. Wow! I feel this is the first time ever in my entire life I have a candidate I can vote for and feel really good about that.
So…when Barack Obama becomes president, even if he has challenges fully delivering on the promises and ideals he is speaking about due to the limits of the current bureaucracy (though honestly if anyone can do it, it would be him or someone like him) he has helped to awaken hope and inspiration for me and for millions of others. My sense is that through the passion of what he is sharing and the feeling and presence behind his words he is activating and inspiring our willingness to dream the dream of a New World based on justice and liberty for all and not for just a privileged few. He is calling for everyone to take personal responsibility and to show up and do our part in being the catalysts for change. My prayer is that the hope, joy and passion activated at the Democratic Convention has the strength and power to continue to energize the changes that so many were feeling so deeply.
To me the Democratic Convention was strong evidence for the shifting collective expression and the power of this Turning of the Ages. A new template was put into place and even though it may be awhile before we see the results and we may have many more challenging experiences that will test our faith and sense of hope and inspiration…the New Earth template has been energized by millions sharing the dream of an awakening world that honors the Earth and the lives of all its citizens. Because as Willa Cather states so beautifully in the opening quote "Where there is great love there are always miracles." And it is our great love for the Earth, for ourselves and for all who live here that will facilitate the miracles that are coming. And so it IS… with Great Gratitude…

Daily Timings (Here are the interpretations for each day)
Sep 1, Monday. The Moon moves into Libra and conjuncts Venus (2 Libra), Mercury (4 Libra) and Mars (8 Libra) and retrograde Jupiter (12 Capricorn) squares them all. This month features the Sacred Union of Mars and Venus (15 Libra) exact on September 11. This spotlights the mysteries of conscious equal partnership with ourselves and others and the relationship between Body and Mind, Mind and Spirit, Heaven and Earth, Above and Below and our Inner and Outer experience. Thus, this is an especially powerful time for assessing how we are doing with our internal and external relationships. See Sep 7 and 3 Timings for information about a deepening process around our personal and collective relationships that may be useful to utilize this entire month or at least until the Libra New Moon on Sep 29.
It may also be helpful to be with a few good questions that will help you identify how you are doing with the mysteries of relating. Are you happy and/or content with you current relationship experience? Are there any areas within you that are still unconscious around how you engage the relationship to yourself and others? What expectations or fears are holding you back from going deeper into an even more genuine authentic relationship with life? Are you willing to let go of those expectations or fears and open to a whole new experience of relating? If you are willing then the next step is to begin to make different choices as described in Sep 11, 13 and 29 Celestial Timings.
"Relationships are our primary teacher. They are the context in which we either grow into the consciousness of God, or deny ourselves and others the opportunity to do so." Marianne Williamson
Sep 2, Tuesday. Retrograde Jupiter (12 Capricorn 35) has slowed way down moving only three minutes from now until September 4 when the Sun (12 Virgo 33) Trines Jupiter (12 Capricorn 33). Jupiter moves only one minute from September 4 to 7 when it stations direct at 12 Capricorn 32. From the Earth’s perspective it looks as if Jupiter is not moving or is in a Still Point similar to the shifting direction of a pendulum or any other oscillating system. Quantum physics tells us that when an object reaches a Still Point that it actually disappears presumably into the vacuum state, or the unified field or into some other dimensional realm beyond this one. It then reappears so quickly it is imperceptible to the human senses. Indeed it may be the entire creation is oscillating in and out of this dimension hundreds of thousands of times per second. This means we are in constant contact or constant connection with the infinite source. The station of any planet (this month features Jupiter, Pluto and Mercury) magnifies the Still Point, the place of origin and completion where there is no movement, yet it is not fixed, and past and future meet. TS Elliot’s poem Still Point is the best summary of this and is a wonderful way to meditatively tune into this Timing.
At the still point of the turning world.
Neither flesh nor fleshless;
Neither from nor towards;
At the still point, there the dance is,
But neither arrest or movement.
And do not call it fixity,
Where past and future are gathered.
Neither movement from nor towards,
Neither ascent nor decline.
Except for the point, the still point,
There would be no dance,
and there is only the dance.
~ T.S. Elliot
Sep, 3, Wednesday. The waxing Moon moves into Scorpio and the Sun makes its annual conjunction with Saturn (11 Virgo). Mercury is also crossing the degree of its direct station in October opening the window of the Mercury retrograde today. (See Sep 24)
The Moon in Scorpio adds passionate intensity to this Sun conjunction with Saturn. Saturn in the Virgo realm is about looking at the structure of how we engage our sacred relationship to life, to the planet, to ourselves, to each other and to the Divine in whatever language feels most comfortable, be it God, Goddess, Great Spirit, Great Mystery, All that Is, Universal Source etcetera. This is especially about our relationship to our Great Mother Earth as she is the one that sustains our very existence.
Saturn is with the Source, with the Light of the Sun accessing the deeper mysteries of the structure of our current reality. Our entire creation is made up of light energy or photons that have both a particle and wave like nature. Scientists are locating photons (light) within our DNA now visible with the development of Kirlian photography giving scientists the ability to see the light emanations coming from everything in creation. http://physics.about.com/od/lightoptics/f/photon.htm
The Sun/Saturn conjunction is a reminder of the connection between light and matter. When we work with light energy through imagination we are working with the most fundamental aspect of creation. Taking time to tune into our own experience of light energy as it exists within each of us and drawing more light to whatever we are desiring to create is greatly supported by this Sun Saturn conjunction came into 10 degrees on August 23, is exact today and stays in the Sun’s glow until it rises helically as a morning star sometime between Sep 16 and Sep 22 depending on your horizon line.
Sep 4, Thursday. The Sun (12 Virgo 32) trines Jupiter (12 Capricorn 32) very near the second brightest fixed star in the constellation of the Archer known as Nunki (a.k.a Pelagus) marking the Vane of the Arrow.
In Page Bryant’s book Starwalking Shamanic Practices for Traveling into The Night Sky Nunki is described as a star that has been energizing the Earth for over five thousand years and has been empowering ceremonial magicians and shamans. When we consider that Nunki is the vane of the arrow and when the arrow is pulled all the way back on the bow it gives the arrow maximum power to move forward to its intended target. In this case the target the arrow is pointed toward is Galactic Center.
Jupiter’s station at this nexus of power magnifies the energy being directed toward the Center of our Galaxy in this Still Point or Zero Point moment of Jupiter. At the Still Point there exists a portal into the “unified field”. Thus Jupiter is activating a portal into the origins of creative energy emanating from Galactic Center and then birthed into our current reality. This suggests a transfer of the divine creation codes coming from the Galactic Core to our current conscious experience here on Earth is being magnified many times more than usual over the next few weeks.
Getting a visual connection with Jupiter anytime during this month will further assist this process. This is especially so if we approach this with gratitude for the opportunity to receive this energy as part of our divine destiny at this time. However, be prepared for a further acceleration of changes designed to complete with the old paradigm and to vibrationally shift into living more and more of the New Earth energies.
According to Sky and Telescope Magazine (January 2008 issue) the Moon is occulting (covering) Nunki eleven times this year, Mar 2 and 30, Apr 26, May 23, June 19, July 17, Aug 13, Sep 9, Oct 7, Nov 3 and 30. This further suggests the importance of the transmissions coming in from this star this year. The Sep 9 occultation is especially important as Jupiter is still stationary by this star magnifying the transmission coming in from this portal in an extremely rare Jupiter station here along with a Moon occultation at the same time. (See Sep 9) In the Sky Map below you can see Jupiter direcly above Nunki though this is drawn as a teapot and not an Archer.

Sep 5, Friday. North Node (18 Aquarius) is still within exactly 1 degree of Chiron (17 Aquarius) and remains within about a degree and a half this entire month and next. This is due to the slowed movement of the Nodes near an eclipse season. This long dance of Chiron with the North Node is intended to transform and heal any wounds that hold us back from living our destiny.
Chiron is the archetypal Wounded Healer who teaches about the transformative power that lies within our wounds when we are willing to accept these gifts and turn the wounds into our medicine transforming them through radical acceptance.
Everyone has wounds. It is the nature of living in this reality and therefore unavoidable. Thus, everyone has the potential to be a Wounded Healer if they choose to do so. This is not about energizing our wounds for sympathy or to further justify how we have been a victim of unfair circumstances. Rather, when we successfully and authentically transform our own wounds so we are no longer at the affect of them we detach emotionally from our story. Then we are not at the affect of our story. Rather it becomes a medicine teaching assisting and inspiring others with similar challenges who are still in the process of transforming their wounds. This is similar to how Chiron’s story is a medicine teaching.
Chiron (the ancient Greek Centaur) was a master healer who was wounded by a poisonous sword that was instant death to any mortal. He was immortal so he could not die and yet he could not find a way to heal the pain of the wound that affected him. One day he asked Zeus if could take the place of Prometheus who was being punished for stealing fire from the Gods. Chiron reasoned that he was in so much pain anyway there was no reason for both of them to suffer. Zeus was so moved my Chiron’s compassion he freed Prometheus and allowed Chiron to be transformed, to die to his old form and be turned into a starry constellation known as Centaurus.
Chiron accepted the incurable nature of his wound and at the same time was prepared to relieve the suffering of another. Ken Keyes, Jr. creator of the Living Love method and author of The Handbook to Higher Consciousness and at least 14 other books on joyful living, was a modern day wounded healer.
Paralyzed by Polio at age 25 Ken Keyes, Jr. was set on a path of discovery that ultimately gave him the gift of accepting his situation and learning how to live a loving joyful life even though he was a quadriplegic. In his book Prescriptions for Happiness Ken gives simple and yet powerful keys to living a happy life no matter what your life circumstances are. One essential key is to Accept Whatever Happens - For Now. When we accept our wounds we begin to see the gifts they have for us and then they can be transformed into the medicine we carry. This medicine is what leads us to our Divine Destiny and that is the power we have now with Chiron (the wounded healer) and the North Node (Divine Destiny) engaging this year long dance and continuing to grace us with the opportunity to heal our wounds turning them into our gifts. (See August 2008 Archives)
Sep 6, Saturday. The waxing Moon moves into Sagittarius, and opens the First Quarter Moon Window. This is a time for taking committed action to deepen our commitment to the power and magic of living the essential truth of our being that promotes love and joy. Attending to the hurts, wrongs, mistakes and issues of the past through embracing them, forgiving them and moving to new territory is accelerated by the rapid growth of the First Quarter Moon energy when we are willing to take authentic action through surrender and release.
Sep 7, Sunday. The Moon occults Antares several hours before it reaches its exact First Quarter phase (15 Sagittarius). Also today Venus (10 Libra), Mars and Mercury (12 Libra) are squaring stationary direct Jupiter. This is the 8th occultation of the Moon over Antares this year visible in Australia, New Zealand and South America. The Moon occultations over Antares happen frequently in the years around the 19 year Lunar Standstill as the Moon travels further south in its orbit than in other years. These occultations act as activations of the mysteries connected to this royal Behenian star marking the heart of the Scorpion. Even most of us cannot see this occultation we can see the Moon near Antares tonight. A visual connection with the Moon and Antares can help us to open to receive the power and energy from the incoming transmission being amplified by the Moon tonight.
This First Quarter Moon is accelerating the emerging truth around the energies of conscious relationship. What is the truth of your relationship with yourself and others? Plus Jupiter (12 Capricorn 32) is trine Saturn exact tomorrow and at the same time is stationing direct at 9:16 pm Pacific Daylight Time taking us deeper into this Still Point. (See Sep 2)
Being conscious of the power of this Still Point station of Jupiter and the First Quarter Moon in Jupiter’s sign (Sagittarius) along with the line-up of Venus Mars and Mercury assist us in engaging this opportunity to take further decisive action in exploring the truth of how we are engaging our relationships. One way to do this is to sit quietly and ask the part of yourself that KNOWS questions directed toward learning more about how you are doing with your relationships. It helps to have pen and paper handy as you reflect or meditate on the questions you have so you can write down what comes to you. You may be astounded by the wisdom and insights you find yourself writing down.
One simple truth is that when we ask questions we get answers. Sometimes we don’t recognize the answers or like them so we think perhaps we didn’t get an answer. Sometimes it has to do with the type of questions we have been asking. It is important to ask beneficial questions as that will affect the quality of the answers we receive. For example, instead of asking what mistakes you made or are making reframe the question to ask what have I learned from my past relationships, or what I am learning in my current relationship/s?
You can also ask how to use the lessons you have learned or are learning to create more conscious relationships going forward. Again this is more productive than asking why a relationship has failed or ended or what you did wrong? Here are some interesting questions to get you started.
Do you know why you are engaging or not engaging in personal relationships? What are you hoping to gain from the personal relationships you are in now? Are you taking responsibility for your needs or are you hoping someone else will fulfill them? Do you use others as an excuse for what you are experiencing in your life? Are you being critical of yourself and others, creating unhappiness as a result? If so how could you find ways to be more accepting and kind toward yourself and others?
If you are not in relationship and would like to be then you can ask the part of yourself that KNOWS what you need to know about creating a healthy, loving, fun relationship with a life partner that supports you both in growing in greater joy and fulfillment of your divine destiny?
Perhaps your relationship path is primarily with yourself. You can still use these questions to help you understand where you are in your process of doing the inner sacred marriage.
And regardless of where you are on your journey with inner and outer conscious equal partnership you may want to consider joining Daniel Giamario and myself for the Sacred Marriage Shamanic Astrology class happening November 19-23 in Tucson, Arizona. Many have found this class to be life changing. Details are here.
Sep 8, Monday. Mercury and Mars conjunct (13 Libra) with Venus (12 Libra) one degree away in a near exact square to Jupiter (12 Capricorn 32) now also trine Saturn (12 Virgo 32) adding even greater potency to the Jupiter Still point that was exact yesterday and is giving an additional boost to the exploration of true partnership and relationship. (see Sep 7 and also see Sep 1, 9, 11, 13)
Plus Pluto Stations direct today (28 Sagittarius) marking the last Pluto station direct in the sign of Sagittarius for nearly 240 years. Pluto’s journey through Sagittarius is intended to expose the shadow side of truth in all its forms. Some will use the truth as they perceive it to wound, accuse, blame and condemn or to control and limit another person’s experience by projecting fear, guilt, shame or judgment.
William Blake once said: “The truth that is told with bad intent beats all the lies you can invent.” This extends to the truth we tell ourselves. If we beat ourselves up with the seeming truth of our failures and mistakes then we are not remembering to forgive ourselves or others. That is why practicing self-forgiveness is an important step in creating a new reality based in the truth of our divinity.
Sep 9, Tuesday. The Moon moved into Capricorn yesterday and occults Nunki (See Sep 4) as it conjuncts stationary Jupiter today and both Jupiter (12 Capricorn 32) and the Moon are squaring Venus (12 Libra 07), Mercury (13 Libra 53), and Mars (13 Libra 36). This is a potent trigger point for the Venus Mars and Mercury line-up inspiring insights about the structure of our relationships.
It is helpful to take personal inventory and note your actions, feelings, and experiences that also determine how you are communicating. Are you taking responsibility for what you are thinking, saying, feeling and doing? Remember, every single person in your life is a reflection of how you are doing with your relationship to Great Spirit, Great Mystery, God, Goddess, All that IS and to yourself and to all life. The key is to take responsibility for your experience without creating guilt or blaming yourself or others. Learning and growing from our mistakes is an essential process of life and learning to forgive ourselves for our mistakes and to forgive others for their mistakes while also being accountable for our actions are keys to creating healthier relationships.
If there are others in your life refusing to take responsibility for their experience and insisting on blaming you or those you love, then it may be time to step away from those relationships at least for awhile. If radical forgiveness does not change the toxic behavior of someone you are in relationship with, then you can lovingly move on…meaning loving yourself enough to move out of the situation with as little drama as possible. In this way you are taking personal responsibility and moving away from projecting blame and being a victim. When you take responsibility and release the need to blame someone for what you are experiencing, then you step into the realm of conscious equal partnership with yourself. And then you can truly engage conscious relationship with those around you. You know you are on track when your relationships are filled with love, joy and fun!
Sep 10, Wednesday. Asteroid Goddess Vesta is stationing retrograde today at the Beltane Cross-Quarter degree of 15 Taurus. Vesta remains retrograde until Dec 15 moving all the way back to 29 Aries. Vesta (or Hestia as she was known to the Greeks) was a Virgin Goddess according to the original meaning of Virgin describing a woman who was not married. This did not mean she did not have sex, because she did in sacred ceremonial settings. Virgin simply meant she wasn’t married. Vesta presided over the fertility rites or sexual rites that kept the land and people prosperous.
The Taurus mysteries are also associated with pleasure, beauty, and all forms of intimacy including sexual intimacy. Much of these mysteries have been lost in patriarchal interpretation and suppression of the divine feminine. Vesta is retracing her steps through the Taurus domain providing an opportunity to look more deeply into how well we are honoring the sacred expression of life through love and pleasure. In the Spiral Dance by Starhawk she quotes the Charge of the Goddess a powerful reminder to seek the divine feminine within ourselves. One of the best lines is “All acts of love and pleasure are my rituals.” This sums up the essence of Vesta’s retrograde in Taurus combining the expression of Vesta as the Priestess (Virgo archetype) and the expression of Taurus as the Goddess of Love, Beauty and Pleasure. Therefore, this is a time for looking at how we are engaging acts of love and pleasure in our lives.
Sep 11, Thursday. The Moon moves into Aquarius and today marks the exact Venus Mars conjunction at 14 Libra 54 still square Jupiter at 12 Capricorn 33. Venus is visible just 0.3 degrees north of Mars at the closest part of their conjunction. One of the best ways to participate with this event is to go out after Sunset, look west and visually witness Venus and Mars if possible. If you can’t see them then you can still tune in by facing west and knowing the energy is reaching you through the clouds or whatever else might be preventing a visual connection. If you have clear skies you will see brilliant Venus next to the much dimmer Red Planet Mars less than a degree apart.
Mercury (16 Libra) is now at its greatest elongation from the Sun (27 degrees) reaching for new insights to further integrate in this current Mercury cycle. After today Mercury will begin to drop toward the western horizon as it prepares for its station retrograde on Sep 24. Mercury is lying three and a half degrees away from Venus and Mars in a stunning 3.6 degree grouping. These three planets are together for the next few nights within 5 degrees of each other. All three are setting about one hour after Sunset depending on your western horizon line.
Sep 12, Friday. The Aquarius Moon conjuncts the North Node and Chiron before occulting Neptune and the Sun is opposite retrograde Uranus (21 Pisces) marking the center point of the current Uranus Retrograde cycle. These factors all represent a potential radical assemblage point shift as well as symbolize a threshold crossing toward radically unique, extremely novel and original cutting-edge experiences. For at least a week before and after this exact timing, there can be sudden and unexpected events occurring that are intended to shift any limiting sense of self. Unexpected changes can take us in new more fulfilling directions. Awareness and acceptance of the flow of change now in process helps us to move through these changes with greater ease and grace.
Sep 13, Saturday. Messenger Mercury conjuncts Mars (16 Libra) today and Venus tomorrow further empowering the messages of conscious equal partnership between the sacred masculine and the sacred feminine and between the heart and the mind. (see Sep 1, 7, 9, 11, 29)
This is a reminder from the August Timings describing a way to work with Mercury’s long passage through Libra due to its retrograde station on Sep 24. Messenger Mercury in Libra is about the relationship we have with our minds and the ability of the mind to be a connecting link for the relationship between the visible and the invisible realms. In the realm of thought we have the ability to transport ourselves instantly to any time or place or situation. We also have the ability to choose where we focus our thoughts.
In The Book of Secrets Osho explains how thinking is what locates us in Time. He says that if we do not think there is no Time and that is why meditation in particular can feel timeless. He also says a moment of pure love is experienced in the realm of Timelessness.
When we are “Thinking” we are absent from the Now. Thinking is our first attachment to this reality. It doesn’t help to try to NOT think either. Non-thinking occurs as a natural state. It is the same if we try to give up our attachments to things. When we TRY to give up attachments we can find ourselves being attached to not being attached. This is the paradox that leads us right back to attachment. So we are reminded this is not about getting rid of attachments but rather understanding why they are there, accepting them, and then they naturally transform. Ultimately attachments come from our need to feel safe.
During this long transit of Mercury through Libra it may be useful to notice what your relationship with your mind is. What kind of thoughts are you thinking? Are you attached to certain ways of thinking, beliefs, and communication style? Do you find you are able to change your thinking when you choose to do so? How attached are you to what you believe and perceive is your reality? The paradox of the mind is we can find ourselves being bored with what we have and longing for what we don’t have. So another question that can serve over the next few weeks is: How can I be content with, or truly accept, what IS right now?
Sep 14, Sunday. Mercury conjuncts Venus (18 Libra) bringing the Queen of Heaven (Venus) messages about conscious relationship with the sacred masculine and how she can best continue to integrate her current journey through the Leo mysteries (the sign Venus was in when her journey began) of Radical Radiant Self-Love, that is based in radical Self-Acceptance, and Self-Approval. (see Sep 1, 7, 9, 11, 13)
Sep 15, Monday. The Pisces Full Moon (23 Pisces) is conjunct Uranus (21 Pisces). Healthy Pisces enjoys a magical mystical connection with the Divine and simply serves all life through loving compassion. When out-of-balance, Pisces often expresses through co-dependency and lack of knowing what they want and desire.
This Moon conjunction with Uranus provides an opportunity for radical compassion and creating a safe space for ourselves to explore what our true wants and desires are. In Ken Keyes book Prescriptions for Happiness the very first prescription is Ask For What You Want, But Don’t Demand It. Sometimes the most difficult part can be figuring out what you do want and then having the courage to ask for it without attachment to the outcome. Non-attachment is the Don’t Demand It part of the prescription because when we are demanding anything be a certain way disappointment is guaranteed if it does not manifest according to our picture. Instead when we ask for what we want from the place of preference rather than demand the energy is completely different. Plus it allows for greater trust and love to be a part of the process.
Sep 16, Tuesday. The Moon moved into Aries yesterday afternoon energizing the mysteries of the Sacred Warrior who is prepared to defend and protect family and community while upholding the cosmic law and order. With Moon in Aries it is a good time to take decisive action to further the causes you feel most passionate about.
Sep 17, Wednesday. The Moon moves into Taurus until Sep 19 and Venus (22 Libra) is now conjunct Spica (see Sep 18) and is trining Neptune (22 Aquarius). These aspects speak to the mysteries of beauty, love and gratitude. Love and Gratitude are high vibrational energies for successfully co-creating a new reality. When we are aligned with Love and Gratitude then the world mirrors Love, Gratitude and Miracles back to us. This is a reminder that each one of us is already a manifested miracle simple because we exist.
When we are expressing from Gratitude in every possible moment it strengthens the light codes of Gratitude that are creating an energetic Gratitude Field of consciousness that manifests in an abundance of resources designed to assist us in joyfully living our divine destiny. It helps to begin by being Grateful for our lives and for who we are no matter how many mistakes we have made, or are in the process of making, or how much we feel like we have failed to live the life we dream of living. Accepting and approving of ourselves as we are in this moment is one of the most liberating and transforming acts we can ever do.
Sep 18, Thursday. Venus (23 Libra), Mercury (21 Libra) and Mars (20 Libra) are converging on the fixed bright blue/white first magnitude star Spica found near the ecliptic. This star marks the hand of the Virgin Priestess (a.k.a Virgo). Spica is actually a multiple star system with at least five detectable stars. The two brightest stars are more massive than our Sun and one appears to be nearing the end of its star life and may go supernova soon. The other three stars are virtually invisible. To the naked eye observer Spica appears to be a single star due to the 260 light year distance from the Earth. That means the light we see from Spica tonight is 260 years from the past.
Spica and the constellation of the Virgin Priestess (a.k.a Virgo) have many myths and
images linked with them. The Greeks and Romans saw this constellation as the Great Mother Goddess Cybele with her lion-drawn chariot symbolized by the constellation of the Lion sitting right next door. Cybele, like many goddesses had many manifestations. Her celebrations included drumming, dancing, singing, and chanting all night long. The Greek Goddess Astrea is also linked with this constellation seen holding the nearby Scales of Justice for the purpose of dispensing divine judgment. In Egyptian myth this was the Scales of Maat where the heart of the dead was weighed against the feather of Maat to determine the future path of the one who died.
Spica has a companion star known as Arcturus located in the constellation of Bootes, The Herdsman. Arcturus is considered the faithful companion and guardian protector of the Goddess and is easily visible in the September sky by following the arc of the handle of the Big Dipper to the bright red star Arcturus. From Arcturus you can draw a line straight toward the horizon until you reach the blue star Spica, above the horizon looking west after Sunset. There you will also see the very bright Venus, and if you are lucky perhaps Mercury (21 Libra) and Mars (19 Libra). (See Sep 25)
Sep 19, Friday. The Moon is visible tonight passing about one degree North of the Pleiades as it moves into Gemini energizing the archetypal expression of the Trickster Magician, the Coyote, the Contrary or any other archetypes that defy logic and reason for the purpose of reaching beyond the boundaries of duality and polarity. It is in this state one becomes the archetypal Fool leaping into the void having surpassed the limitations of this reality and moving a place of living total freedom.
Mercury (20 Libra) trines Neptune (20 Aquarius) bringing us subtle messages about partnership and relationship. This is a great time to further reflect on these mysteries through meditation, journaling or any other process that helps you to tune into your inner knowing. (See Sep 7 and 13)
Sep 20, Saturday. The Sun (28 Virgo) square to Pluto (28 Sagittarius) indicates Pluto is gaining momentum in its last forward movement through the Galactic Center and back into Capricorn by the end of November. Pluto’s initiatory intent is to bring empowerment through the process of surrender and acceptance of what IS. As mentioned in the Sep 5 Timings Ken Keyes, Jr. found a way to surrender to the life circumstances that caused him to become a quadriplegic and turned that into the Living Love method and some of the most successful self-help books ever written. In his book Prescriptions for Happiness Ken tells us of the importance of Acceptance. Acceptance and surrender are linked because we cannot be in a state of acceptance until we are willing to surrender to what IS.
The second prescription for Happiness is to accept whatever is happening for now. It seems so simple and yet can be so challenging when we are attached to being right and being vindicated according to whatever pictures or images we have. Accepting things as they are doesn’t mean we give up our desire to be right, or the desire for change, or the willingness to take action to create change. Acceptance releases the need for life to be different than what it IS and that often then facilitates radical change in unexpected ways, especially when we are not attached to what the change looks like.
Accepting what is for NOW is the simplest yet most challenging part. We often resist what IS and find ways to distract ourselves from the truth of the present moment. Pluto has been in Sagittarius since 1995 actively bringing our shadow to light and through the light of awareness we have the opportunity to be conscious of what we are thinking, saying and doing.
We cannot undo what has already been done. All we can do is respond to what IS in the most conscious, loving, forgiving way possible in every moment. It begins with forgiving the unforgivable, forgiving ourselves for whatever mistakes we have made or any ways we have unconsciously contributed to our own pain or the pain of others. If we are not able to forgive we are not able to accept what IS. Acceptance is also a state of non-resistance or surrender to the Divine Energy guiding us when we allow it to do so. When we live in acceptance we radiate love, joy and grace into the world uplifting everyone and everything.
This is a Map of Orion the Hunter and note the two lines intersecting is showing where the Eliptic and the Galactic Equator cross and this is where the Solstice Sun Rises. The Moon is not at the exact intersection due to still being in the declination of the Lunar Extreme that was exact in 2006
Sep 21, Sunday. The Last Quarter Moon is 29 Gemini 34 nearly exactly conjunct the Galactic Cross located at the Galactic Edge where the Ecliptic and the Galactic Plane intersect. Also in zodiacal alignment with this area of the sky is Betelguese the bright red star marking the shoulder of Orion (the hunter), or the High Man as this constellation was known to the ancient Celts. In many star maps (as shown here) the Hand of the High Man reaches up to the intersection of the plane of our Galaxy and the plane of our Solar System (a.k.a. the ecliptic or path the planets follow). The Celts recognized the Turning of an Age whenever the Sun was located at this intersection point either at an Equinox or Solstice or Cross-Quarter Date. Currently the Sun is located here at the June Solstice. Thus, this is another indicator for this time being a major Turning of an Age.
Orion is a highly recognizable constellation straddling the Celestial Equator so part of it lies within the Milky Way band and because it is just south of the Ecliptic it is visible in both hemispheres of the Earth.
In August we had a Last Quarter Moon in early Gemini so this marks the second last quarter Moon in Gemini this year. This time however, the Last Quarter Moon is at the Hand of the High Man. This Moon phase is a time for integration as the hero or heroine crosses the return threshold bringing back the gifts they have gathered from their quest. So this is a good time to integrate the events and experiences of the past few months, including the June Solstice, Venus Rising from the Underworld, the Eclipses of February and August and the meeting of Venus, Mars and Mercury, the station of Jupiter and Pluto direct, along with many other powerfully transformative events.
Near neighbor to the Twins (Gemini), Orion may be seen stretching his arms over a vast expanse of sky and rising to the stars with no less huge a stride. A single light marks each of his shining shoulders, and three aslant trace the downward line of his sword ; but three mark Orion's head, which is imbedded in high heaven with his countenance remote." It is Orion who leads the constellations as they speed over the full circuit of heaven. Sep 22, Monday. The Sun reaches the Solar Gate marking the September Equinox moving to Zero Libra at 8:45 am Pacific Time. The Equinoxes are the seasonal time of balance and harmony when the days and nights are equal in length. During the Equinoxes, the Earth’s auric or magnetic field is affected by the Sun’s alignment with the Earth’s equator. Twice each year, at the Equinoxes, the Sun rises and sets exactly over the equator, tracking exactly due East and due West, no matter where you are on the Planet. Doorways or thresholds into the mysteries are more easily accessed during Equinoxes, especially when we consciously engage this Timing. Equinoxes are a powerful time for doing ceremonial activations at sacred sites or anywhere you happen to be.
....................The Serpent illumination at the Equinox at Chichen Itza..........................
The Zero Libra point marking the Autumnal Equinox is currently aligned with the North Galactic Pole. The North Galactic Pole lies 90 degrees north of the Galactic Plane in the constellation of Coma Berenices. It is only one time period in 26,000 years (of about 144 years) that the Sun rises in this area of the sky at the September Equinox.
Astronomers consider the North Galactic Pole to be one of the best for studying other galaxies, because the conditions here are favorable for seeing beyond our galaxy. When the Solar Gates (in this case Equinoxes) align with the galactic poles an intergalactic doorway is opened. This Timing allows for easier access to the intergalactic energy codes coming in through this doorway via the Sun. We can maximize this Timing by choosing to anchor the incoming energy codes of love and light that are intended to assist us and the Earth in the ascension process.
Sep 23, Tuesday. Mercury conjuncts Mars (23 Libra) and both are conjunct Spica and in zodiacal alignment with Arcturus. Spica is symbolized in the Tarot Cards by the Virgin Priestess holding the scales of justice in her hand. Another image that comes from the Tarot is the Hermit standing on a hill with a lantern in his hand. The lantern, or light is Spica. Arcturus is the guardian of the divine feminine and is related to King Arthur leading his people to freedom and victory with the sword of truth, the sword of divine authority and kingship, also known as Excalibur. Last month featured the mythic renewal of the broken blade (Narsil) in The Lord of the Rings. So this marks another Timing for noting the power of renewing the sword of our divine authority in the hand of the divine masculine and the returning light shining from the lantern of love and compassion in the hand of the divine feminine.
From the ashes a fire shall be woken,
A light from the shadows shall spring,
Renewed shall be blade that was broken,
The crownless again shall be king.”
Fellowship of the Ring J.R.R. Tolkien
And Venus moves into Scorpio where she remains until October 19 traveling through the archetypal realm of the Shaman Sorceress Witch (witch originally meant knowledgeable or wise one) or any of the Goddesses (i.e. Hecate, Pele, Cerridwen, the Cretan Snake Goddess) of alchemy and regeneration. This is another opportunity for renewal of the authority and power of the divine feminine.
Sep 24, Wednesday. The Moon moves into Leo energizing the mysteries of radical radiant self-love through self-forgiveness and self-approval even if we feel we have made terrible mistakes. Forgiving the unforgivable in ourselves is vital to the process of a greater collective experience of forgiving any unforgivable acts that have taken place in the past by individuals, governments, religions or other groups whose main interest is in domination and control. No one, no organization or government is so perfect they are beyond the power of radical forgiveness to open the way to greater expressions of light and love.
Mercury (22 Libra 50) now hanging out with Behenian fixed star Spica is going retrograde today until October 15. Mercury entered the degree of its direct station (7 Libra 35) on Sep 3 and leaves the degree of its retrograde station (22 Libra 50) on October 30. This means many will feel the effect of this Mercury Retrograde from Sept 3 to October 30 especially if they have planets between 7 to 23 degrees of Libra.
Mercury symbolizes the alchemical magic of the mind, how we process information, how we perceive our reality and how we communicate or creatively express who we are in the world. Mercury is also noted for its quickness and speed as it completes one orbit around the Sun in 88 days, but from the Earth’s perspective Mercury goes through a process of retracing its path across the sky approximately every 115 to 120 days giving us an opportunity to witness Mercury’s behind the scenes mysteries from an intuitive right brained perspective.
During the three week retrograde period starting today we have an opportunity to see the magical inner workings of Mercury especially during the times Mercury is stationing retrograde or direct. It is also helpful to remember to allow for the possibility of miscommunication. This can manifest when others hear something different than what we think we are saying or we hear something different than what was intended. It helps to take extra time now to check in and make sure communication is clear. This is also why it is helpful to be extra attentive to any legal documents you are signing now and to make sure your computer is backed up.
Sep 25, Thursday. This entire Mercury Retrograde is featuring the Behenian fixed star Spica. Mercury’s station with Spica is rare. However last year Mercury stationed direct November 2 at 23 Libra21. The last time Mercury stationed retrograde close to Spica was Sep 22, 1995 at 20 Libra 10. The next closest station of Mercury to Spica won’t happen again until Sep 27, 2021. This is especially important when we consider the Still Point of any planetary station near a fixed star opens a portal to the deeper mysteries contained in that area of the sky.
According to the Book Starlight Elixirs and Cosmic Vibrational Healing by Michael Smulkis and Fred Rubenfeld http://hilarion.com/stars.html Spica has the ability to transfer awareness from the super conscious to the waking conscious mind and can also enhance lucid dreaming states and psychic abilities. Spica strengthens the physical body in the cervical vertebrae of the spine. This is the physical location in the body that symbolizes the separation of body and mind. So Spica creates an interchange between the separated selves assisting in the remembrance that there is ultimately no separation. Thus Spica helps to bring the principle of oneness more fully into our conscious minds. Mercury represents the mind so this planetary station with Spica will accelerate the reconnection of the mind and body assisting us in becoming even more conscious of the mind body relationship.
Sep 26, Friday. The Moon is passing Regulus within 1.7 degrees and is moving into Virgo. Tonight the Moon will be visible approaching Saturn. The Moon in Virgo is transmitting the mysteries linked with a 26,000 year ancient pattern containing the repository for all the codes of Time especially those linked with the natural cycles and rhythms of Earth and Sky. As mentioned in the August 2008 Celestial Timings we are rapidly approaching a “timewave zero” or zero point altering our perception and experience of Time. We are entering an entirely new dimensional realm and therefore the pattern of Time as we know it is rapidly changing. One way to ground our experience of this time shift is to work with the encoding inherent in the changing seasons and the cycles of the Moon as they relate directly to the natural world.
Sep 27, Saturday. The Moon conjuncts Saturn (15 Virgo) and will be visible beyond Saturn tonight. Saturn is the master architect of this world of Form administering to the past, present and future codes or seeds of what has been what is and what is becoming. Saturn in Virgo is now being illuminated and amplified by the Moon reminding us of the importance of the pattern of life as it weaves from the past into the present also weaving what is yet to come.
Saturn was known as Chronos (Father Time) to the Greeks who were highly interested in the mysteries of Time and in particular the mysteries of Eternity. Saturn in Virgo also then applies to the pattern of time and our current experience of how Time is accelerating more and more with each passing day as we approach the “Timewave Zero” or “Zero Point” of Time that Terrence McKenna felt would culminate with the heliacal rise of the Nuclear Bulge/Galactic Center on the December Solstice 2012. (See Sep 26 and August 2008 Archives) Angelus Silesius a 17th century poet and philosopher reminds us that Time is an illusion linked to our mental process.
Time is of your own making;
its clock ticks in your head.
The moment you stop thought
time too stops dead. ~Angelus Silesius
Sep 28, Sunday. The Moon moves into Libra this afternoon opening the Libra New Moon window exact tomorrow and Mercury (22 Libra and still in close alignment with Spica) trines Neptune (22 Aquarius) continuing to open our awareness and inner knowing to the practical ideals of conscious equal relationships. What kind of relationships do you want in you life? What kind of a friend or partner are you? Oprah Winfrey succinctly summed this up when she said:
Lots of people want to ride with you in the limo, but what you want is someone who will take the bus with you when the limo breaks down. ~Oprah Winfrey
Sep 29, Monday. Any New Moon is a time for planting seeds of intention and awareness. This Libra New Moon (6 Libra) is an opportunity to seed powerful new ways of being in relationship with ourselves and others that include the importance of conscious loving co-creative relationships. In their book Conscious Loving Gay and Kathleen Hendricks remind us that we cannot experience a truly loving conscious relationship unless we love ourselves. So this tells us radical self-love is a primary key to conscious equal partnership.
“A co-committed relationship can exist only between two whole people. One hallmark of wholeness is the ability to love yourself. In the realm of love, a paradox exists; you can effectively love others only when you can love yourself. If you cannot love yourself, you will try to fill the void of your own lack of self-love with the love of others. You will tend to demand from others what you cannot give yourself. This demand places an unfair burden on those around you. It makes you a bottomless pit: no matter how much love they give, it is never enough. The same problem exists if you try to give love to other people who do not love themselves. You will turn yourself inside out loving them, but it will not help. We all must learn to give ourselves the love we want. Then other people can love us and it will feel satisfying because it is not filling a void. It becomes love dancing with itself.” http://www.hendricks.com
Sep 30, Tuesday. The Moon is passing within 1.1 degrees South of retrograde Mercury and then passes by Mars before moving into Scorpio transmitting the mysteries of death and rebirth, conscious manifestation, empowered life force energy and conscious Edgewalking. To be an Edgewalker, walking the edges of the old and new paradigms, between what is dying and what is being birthed takes courage and a willingness to explore and expand the edges of contemporary reality. To fully engage the power and magic of this energy we are required to release and surrender all attachments to outcome and to embrace the shamanic death process dying to who we have believed ourselves to be. With every death there is a rebirth. When we die to our old selves a new is birthed. Surrender and trust are keys to this process. Bringing us back to the affirmation I shared in the August Timings that came from a good friend of mine. Accept What IS and Trust the Universe!
